got a call asking if I wanted to lower my interest rates and to press 1- Michael from Card Services came on the line. He asked if I was interested in lowering my interest rate. When I asked what card this was for, he asked which I had, a Mastercard or Visa and did I have one handy. I told him I wasn't interested, Thank You and good bye. I hung up.
He called back and told me I was rude to just hang up on him. The phone # on caller Id was 302-475-1248 Holly Oak, DE. I told him that I was not rude, he was. There was no company name on the first # or the second #, To expect me to give him my credit card info was unreasonable. He said that he couldn't help me unless I could help him by letting him know if I had debt over $4,000 and higher than 12% interest.
Again, I told him I wasn't interested, nothing personal. I was sure that I wasn't the only person to hang up on him and for him to have a nice evening.
I just looked up the # 302-475-1248 which was the call back from "Michael" and It was a board member named Nilesh Amin from Gujarati Samaj of Delaware, a Hindu Temple.
Yeah, tell me this is a real company.

Total scam. Wants to help you lower your interest rates on your credit card. Says it is part of the stimulus probram. They want you to think they are from card services of your credit card company. Don't fall for it. And don't give them any information.

The same company has called three times and won't say who they are. Same thing, trying to lower interest rates. Then hangs up when you press them for more info.

I get this guy (EXtremelY heavy Indian accent) - he calls from quite a few different numbers - but always the same message: a message for "ANNA". Apparently he has her social security number and that she is in trouble with the government. The numbers he has used in the last month:
591-513-7949
401-384-0746
666-134-3513
407-562-7546
666-131-1632
469-567-9690
It seems that he calls from different numbers so it does not seem like the same number harassing you - BUT, IT IS THE SAME GUY WITH THE SAME MESSAGE over and over again!

Got a missed call

Received the same calls four times in one day. Husband pressed their # and talked to a person. Tried to be nice at first, then got angry. The person on the other end of the line actually called him a "douchbag". Nice customer service!

Got three calls in two days. 407-562-7546 and 407-434-9999, same deal as all of you are stating. When pressed for the company, they hang up.

Same as others, I don't answer unknown calls and when I try to call back, message says number is disconnected.

Do a GOOGLE on a program called "CALL ALERT".
http://www.ivrsoft.com/call-alert.htm
I have used this software and it works.
It will answer the phone and hang up on the caller once the bad number is entered into the data base.
It will also reject private, 800 and any other number you tell it to.
No I do not work for this company. But it is a darn good program and it is FREE.

I am f*cking sick and tired of these multiple harassing phone calls everyday. It's against the law and we can't do jack sh*t about it. Do Not Call List is utterly useless. How do I know? Because I keep getting the calls. Today, someone actually answered when I pressed the key to be removed. I politely asked him to remove me and he said no...I won't. Why are they so rude? I also receive collection notifications mailed to my address for people I've never met. Returning the mail hasn't helped. What the hell is going on? We need some f*cking strict laws, but nooo...we want government out of our lives. I'm sure this thing is happening to everyone. I can't help but feel it's being ignored. This country is going into the crapper.

Got a robo-call from this number. Answered. There was nobody on the other end, it just hung up on me. I am on the national do-not-call list. This is really annoying!

They just phoned me and of course I knew instantly it was fraud, but the dead give-away, of course, is that they ask for your credit card number.
What I always do is this: act as seriously interested as possible, in order to waste as much of their time as possible. Then when you can't bluff any longer, do NOT suddenly raise your voice and curse them out, as they will hang up on you instantly and you will not get the satisfaction of having gotten your curse out. What you do is keep your calm and very business-like, friendly voice as you inquire as to how such a lovely criminal a***ole such as she can live with herself.
If you use a CALM, unchanged voice, you catch them off guard and they actually hear what you're saying before they realize what's happening and hang up on you. Raise your voice suddenly and you'll be disconnected and they're off on their next call before you get the first nasty curse word out. Stay calm, as if it's part of your sincere inquiry and interest, and THEN spew forth your curses in that calm, business-like ordinary tone of voice!
Try this, for example: "Okay, but first, let me ask you this, so I'm sure I understand (or "while I'm looking for that card")... Do you find that it's really possible for a stinking a***ole like yourself to sleep at night?"
Got it? You'll be left feeling so GOOD after they hang up on you!

called and would not give me their name said they were lowering my credit card interest asked what card company it was and she said she would not answer my question
| Tina 2011-05-10 17:19:53 Unknown |
It is a "credit card interest reduction" scam. These people prey on the less fortunate, saying they can help lower the interest rate on their credit card. You pay them a fee, they make a couple phone calls for you, sometimes get little results, mostly not, your credit score takes a big hit and they make money off you. They also get your credit card info which is really scary. You cannot phone them back, and they do not identify themselves with any credit company. They want complete control of your cards, and your money. They get very nasty when asked not to call you anymore! Reporting them to Consumer Protection Agency or to the phone company is USELESS ...so looks like these vermin will continue to prey on our privacy. It's downright FRAUD people. I wish I could reach out and SLAP the morans!

Received a robo-call from this number just now. Stupid recorded voice said they were "concerned' about my credit card account. Thankfully I have the ability to assign separate ringtones and I assign all calls like this the No Ring one. Morons.

THIS MAY BE A SCAM. As of 10/27/2010, it is *ILLEGAL* for companies to charge up front fees for help on unsecured debt like credit card debt http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2010/07/tsr.shtm that states "fees for debt relief services may not be collected until ... the debt relief service successfully renegotiates, settles, reduces, or otherwise changes the terms of at least one of the consumer?s debts."
Just remember --- IF THEY WANT AN UPFRONT FEE, THEN IT'S A SCAM.

Big time scam!! This company called my mother and claimed that a possible fraud charge was made on her card. They had all her info - card #, date of birth, SS#. They could help protect her credit by charging almost $1500.00 to her card. They could help lower her interest rates . . . blah blah blah. They did not want to take no for an answer, and after fighting with them for over 15 minutes, we hung up. Called the credit card company and had them cancel the card and issue a new number. The credit card company said that have had several complaints about this type of phone call.
If you got a call from this number - watch your credit card statements for fraud charges!!!

Got several calls from this number. Each one left messages that I could reduce my credit card interest. I've called them back three times so far. Can't just hit redial since you have to add the 1 in front. But I've called and told them my number is registered with Do Not Call. They just called again. Reporting them again.
| Tomk 2011-05-09 18:26:14 Unknown |
Got several calls from these folks...the caller ID is "spoofed" so there is no use in reporting it to the Do Not Call Registry Complaints. Currently there is no law against "spoofing" some other caller ID. They are probably harvesting phone numbers for other spammers to use. Actually, these folks could actually be in Russia!
If you have a service that can block individual phone numbers, do it...otherwise, expect more calls!

Calls off and on. Sometimes a message, sometimes not. A "credit card interest reduction" scam. Many unemployed folks have to run up credit cards while looking for a job. These places prey on them, saying they can help lower the interest rate. You pay them a fee, they make a couple phone calls for you, sometimes get little results, mostly not, your credit score takes a big hit and they make money off you. They also get your credit card info which is really scary.
That's why you cannot phone them back, and they do not identify themselves with any credit company. They want complete control of your cards, and your money.
