Part of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions.  Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.

The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people.  There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

Do you work for them because this number is not the real Chase so if you gave them personal information at that number, keep on eye on your credit.

I hope everyone listens.  This is a scam.  Call the number on the back of your card if you have any doubts.  If anyone says they called that number and was told anything else, they are probably part of the scam.

This not Chase I just spoke with someone from Chase who told me directly that it is a scam and not Chase.  If it was Chase they would leave you a message telling you they are calling about your account and give you a call back number with a reference code.

You are absolutely correct.  I had the same experience and did the proper research to confirm it is real.  People just do not like to pay the piper and will come up with any excuse to not pay there bills.  It is Ignorant and shamefull.  It is not really that hard to find out if it is a legitimate call or not, it took me 7 minutes.  It is that level of stupidity that contributes to our nations financial crisis and we all suffer for it.  Enjoy your late fees fools!

Those who think this is a scam are most likely too dumb to do the research that would confirm this is a Chase number. IT IS VERY SIMPLE! YOU DID NOT PAY YOUR BILL.  So ignore it as you are and cry about the late fee when Chase plays the violin during your pitty party.  Do your research and take personal responsability for your debt.

Sorry to kill the conspiracy theory here, but this is a real Chase number.  It is a payment team that has automated calling when payments are late.  I confirmed it by calling the number on my card.  My payment was late and I received a call from the number in question.  This number will also call if you are late on a pay down plan payment.  Accept personal responsability for your debt, make your payments on time and you will not get called bythis number.  IT IS THAT SIMPLE, AND THE TRUTH!

This person has posted on several forums the exact same text about this being a legitimate call. Clearly shill.

I know for a fact that this was a legitimate call as I am on a payment plan to pay down my credit card with Chase.  When I miss one of the scheduled payments Chase call center calls me from this number.  They have always identified themselves and given the last four digits of my account number.

These  folks called multiple times (I kept seeing a missed call from them) and when I finally picked up no one said anything. Then they called again and when I picked up a lady asked for me. I asked who was speaking and she said Helena. I told her to hold on and she hang up...
Shady! I decided to google the number and realized others had experience something similar...

Calls several times a day. Leaves no message. The one time I did answer,  waited for a voice to come on the line and when I told them my husband wasn't home could I take a message the hung up.

I'm not sure who they were, but they had a number very close to last 4 digits.  I told them that I'd read about them being a scam on the web, and that I expected no more calls from them.  They said they were from Chase.  I haven't heard from them since.  They called on my cell phone.

Only a scammer would be so insistent that a chase phone number is real and with CAPS no less.  Why bother?  Get a real job and make an honest living.  We're all judged for our actions someday.

This number keeps calling.  Checked my phone record, they called 64 times in a month and a half, early in the morning and late at night.  It's a complete robo call, when you pick up there's no one there.  They don't even bother leaving a voicemail.  What's the point of this scam besides annoying the hell out of everyone?  If you scammers read this, stop @#$%ing calling.  We don't even have a chase account, so wtf.

I CERTAINLY UNDERSTAND THE RELUCTANCE BECAUSE OF ALL THE SCAMMERS OUT THERE. HOWEVER, CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD LIKE I SAID AND YOU WILL BE TRANSFERRED RIGHT BACK TO THE COLLECTIONS DPT THAT CALLED YOU. IF YOU THINK I'M LYING THEN THE NEXT TIME YOU RECEIVE A CALL BECAUSE YOU ARE LATE ON A CARD AND YOU DON'T BELIEVE YOU ARE LATE, CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CREDIT CARD. AS SOON AS YOU PUNCH IN YOUR FULL CREDIT CARD NUMBER THE SYSTEM WILL AUTOMATICALLY DIRECT YOU TO THE COLLECTIONS DEPARTMENT THAT CALLED YOU. IF YOU NOTICE, THE NUMBER THAT CALLS YOU IS TYPICALLY A 407-771 WHICH THIS NUMBER IS A FLORIDA NUMBER. GO TO CHASE.COM CLICK ON THE CAREERS LINK. LOOK FOR POSITIONS IN FLORIDA AND YOU WILL SEE JOB POSTINGS FOR CALL CENTERS THERE. SO CLEARLY SIR I AM NO SCAMMER. I AM JUST TRYING TO INFORM YOU.

Shill.  The poster using the name "YOU WERE MISINFORMED" works for the scammers.

Any time you have any question about the status of your credit card your best bet is to call the number on the back of your card or on your statement.

YOU GOING TO YOUR LOCAL BRANCH TO VERIFY THE 407 NUMBER IS NOT GOING TO BE HELPFUL. REMEMBER YOU ARE RECEIVING A CALL FROM A CALL CENTER NOT A LOCAL BRANCH. IN FACT, THE LOCAL BRANCH CANNOT PHYSICALLY DO ANYTHING TO CHANGE YOUR CREDIT CARD. THEY WOULD HAVE TO CALL IN TO THAT SAME NUMBER THAT YOU ARE CLAIMING TO BE FRAUD. INSTEAD OF DIALING THAT 407 NUMBER THAT YOU ARE SEEING POP UP THEY WOULD DIAL THE TOLL FREE NUMBER AND AFTER PUNCHING IN YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER THEY GET RIGHT BACK TO THE DPT THAT CALLED YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE ONLY REASON THE 407 NUMBER POPS UP WHEN YOU ARE RECEIVING A CALL FROM THEM IS BECAUSE IT IS THE LOCAL NUMBER WHERE THEY ARE LOCATED. THE TOLL FREE NUMBER IS NOT GOING TO POP UP. SO YOUR BANKER MISINFORMED YOU AND IN FACT YOU'RE WASTING YOUR TIME WHEN YOU GO THERE TO TRY TO GET A FEE OR CHARGES REVERSED BECAUSE THEY ARE SIMPLY GOING TO GET ON THE PHONE WITH THE CREDIT CARD SERVICES DIVISION IN ORDER TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR ISSUE. EVEN THEN IT IS NOT GUARANTEED YOUR FEE OR WHATEVER WILL BE WAIVED. BEST BET IS TO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME AND GAS BY GOING TO THE BRANCH. JUST CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IT IS REALLY CHASE AND YOU WILL BE TRANSFERRED RIGHT BACK TO THE DPT THAT CALLED YOU.

YEAH WHEN YOU DIAL THAT NUMBER IT IS THE AUTOMATED CHASE SYSTEM ASKING YOU TO ENTER YOUR ACCT NUMBER TO ID YOURSELF SO THAT THE REP THAT COMES ON THE LINE KNOWS WHO THEY ARE SPEAKING WITH. WHEN YOU ARE RECEIVING CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER IT IS THE NUMBER THAT SHOWS UP WHEN THE REPS DIAL OUT. HOWEVER WHEN THEY FINALLY DO LEAVE A MESSAGE THEY GIVE OUT THE TOLL FREE NUMBER. IT IS NOT A SCAM UR JUST AN IDIOT!!! YOU SHOULD DIAL THAT NUMBER NOW PRESS POUND TO GET TO AN OPERATOR. IN FACT WHEN YOU CALL IT SAYS THANK YOU FOR CALLING CHASE CARD SERVICES. IF YOU TOOK THE COTTON OUT YOUR EARS AND LISTENED YOU MIGHT HAVE HEARD THAT.

Scam. I am not late on my credit card payment -- verified via online banking. I confirmed this number is a scam with the local Chase branch manager and 800 customer service number. Hang up immediately and call the number on the back of your Chase bank card. Do NOT give this caller any personal information.
