Rec'd yet another call from this #; caller ID said MERCHANDISE PIC.  Did not leave a message as usual.  TIRED of these calls!  & I do not live near Orlando, where this call originated!

I just called this number: 636-282-0000 and was told I would be taken off the call list.  Let's see how this goes????

I get many unsolicited calls each week. I agree, this can be quite annoying.  Especially when it's the same number calling again and again. It becomes even more irritating when you pick up the phone and there's dead air.

I must confess that I AM a person who MAKES unsolicited calls.

I volunteer with a local (to my area) 501 3-C.  We have been serving three counties for over 20 years.  Because we
are a non-profit, we depend on donations.  

We operate 3 youth shelters. Each of them has huge monthly expenses. While we do have many generous financial
donors, this is not enough to cover all of the expenses incurred for providing housing, food, counseling, life skills education and encouragement for 100's of teens.

So, in order to generate income, we have a thrift shop. I make calls to solicit donations for clothes and household items.
These items go into the thrift shop and are sold. The profits help to keep the shelters funded.

I do not call from a boiler room. I actually make calls from my home office. I go down my list twice. If there is no answer,
I don't leave a voicemail.

The majority of people that I speak to are polite. Some do have items for pick up, the majority don't. Occasionally I will connect with a person who is just out of control. They will demand to be taken off my list and tell me that they are on the DNC list. Some of them use foul and abusive language. I guess they don't realize that I am someone's wife, mother and grandmother :)

Unfortunately, because they are in such a negative state, they are unwilling to hear what I have to say.  I would LOVE
to remove them from my list. In fact, not calling them would make my day a lot more pleasant.

However, non-profits are not bound by the DNC law. All I can do is alert the people who have issued me the list that a person would like to be removed. This, I do. BUT, the people issuing the list only update their lists once a year. This happens in September.

I have been calling for this organization for some time, so if I HAPPEN to get the same list again (which is unlikely)  I won't call that person.  It's hard enough to keep track of things working in a small area. It would be impossible to do with a state wide or national list.

Next time you get a call from a non-profit organization, please try to keep in mind that the person on the other end of the phone is there because it is their job to make calls, or like me, they have a passion for the cause they are representing.

I get this call at least once a day too...usually early! Even if it is legitimate as stated above, if I don't answer don't call everyday until I do. I don't it is legit.

Don't know who they are but they called for my mother to answer maybe the number's switched hands and it's a legitimate business call now but I don't know

Another company who thinks it Ok to call and harass whoever they feel like. Anyone who donates to this company is hurting us all. They are legit and associated with the Red Cross but are going on my blocked list as a spammer.

Called - didn't answer because I don't know anyone at that number.  From the other reports, sounds like clothing pickup for the Red Cross.  We do not accept any calls from people who call us from unknown numbers and/or names

They called me at 9 PM last night, but caller ID just said "Unavailable", which is odd because I have been getting a lot of calls from "Merchandise Pic".  They have been calling for two months.

They called around 9am with caller id as "unavaiable" with the phone number of 407 854 7180.  I called back around 3pm from the same phone they called me on.  They picked up, stated they were from "Charity Clothing" and put me on hold for about a minute.  When queried, they stated they were a charity that I had donated to in the passed.  I have never donated to such a charity by that name.  They knew my number and address.  Google research shows that they are a legitimate for profit business who apparently works in close unison with the Red Cross.  I didnt look into it further since I dont like being unsolicitly called.  They were very friendly even when I told they to take me off their call list.  Thye were happy to oblige.

I get a call from this number at least once a day.  After viewing the comments here I went on the American Red Cross website and searched for the number.  This company is indeed associated with the Red Cross, though it is not the Red Cross.

Regarding 407-854-7180: This is the number printed on the receipt left by Paralyzed Veterans. It is indicated as the number to call for donation pickup.

It is registered as "Merchandise Pick-up" so probably used by multiple charities.

There is no apparent connection to the American Red Cross.  The website does not draw that connection.  This organization sells donated items in bulk to local thrift stores operated by non profit charitable organizations.  There is not even the required posting that this organization is itself a non-profit.

These people have been calling me every day for almost a month, but I never pick up the phone.  You'd think they would give up after a while, but I guess they're not that smart.

Keep calling and leave no message.  How do I get my telephone number removed from their system?

This is a company making arrangements for pick ups for the American Red Cross, clothing, small appliances, etc.
Even if you make arrangements they continue to call.

I just called another of their numbers...
Guy answers "Merchandise Pickup" and I ask why I'm getting so many calls when I've made it clear they need to stop calling.

"I don't have no control over that....and the office is closed."

Mr. Intelligent could NOT provide the number for said office.

This number IS on the American Red Cross Website to pick up clothes.  When you call the # you get "Chairty Clothing" recording.  
They uesed to call 3-5 times a day despite me issuing a cease and desist.  Now they call 5-9 times a day, especially after I complained to Red Cross.  At this point I'd rather throw the clothes out than let them have anything.  Really???? You want to harass the people you want help from?
