This man struck again. 5/27/2012. Used the name Joseph Smith.Used this number- 321-604-6386. Same story. When we could not get the Moneygram to go through, he suggested sending it directly to the bus driver, SCOT KOREN, at the bus stop in Ferk Park, FL. Said he would enter it on the computer and let them ride to the next terminal and purchase tickets there. Let us talk to the wife, Christine and the supposed daughter age 5. We requested a police officer to go verify, and he called back with the "officer" on the line. Sure sounded official, but a call to the Seminole Co. Police did not confirm officer or story. He is persistent and very convincing. Thanks for the info on this website.

Same story on march 28, 2012.

He called my church in Waxahachie texas tonight! Thank God for this website.  He wanted $300 wired to western union in the walmart in casselberry/ fern park Florida. Needed bus tickets for him and his daughter.  He needed cash because he had to buy the bus ticket vouchers himself from the salvation army.  

His "mom" died in a drunk driving accident in Ocoee.  He said her name was Mary ann.  He cited street names in a residental area near-by  our church in texas and even gave a bogus address.  

He is good.  He is very good.  Very convincing.  I presented the gospel to him and told him it wasn't too late to stop what he's doing, that we have a God of second chances!  There was a moment of silence, and then Scott replied coyly: "so are you going to get me the tickets?" .... without any kind of moral conviction.

Just got a call from Scott - March, 2012. Exact same story. We talked about his mother who was just killed by a drunk driver, he was very upset and distraught and even quoted Scripture. He said he had he needed 124.12 to get his family back home- from Florida to Oregon! Said he threw a rod and cracked the block of his car and he just wants to get his family back. Same story, same scam. Do not trust this guy. He used the number, 321.352.0908.

Scott called the parsonage @ 4:30 a.m. with exact same story, new nuber 407-431-2707 wanted the money sent to Wal-Mart money gram. when i Goggled his name and found this forum, i called him back and confronted him. Not that i think it will do any good. i promised to pray for him.

Scott called our church yesterday 8/05/11 and requested to talk to a deacon because he was very upset about his Mother being killed by a drunk driver and they had the funeral the previous day and he was cleaning out the house and needed to talk to someone.  The church secretary called me and I called Scott.  He was stranded in Fern Park, FL.  '92 Olds had thrown a rod and cracked the block.  He needed $124.12 to buy the tickets for greyhound to get back to Aztec, NM.  I sent him $125 Western Union.  He said his wife was named Mary Ann and his young daughters were Jessica and Denise.  He claimed to have atended our church in Aztec.  He gave his name as Scott Cornn.  The number he called from was 407-732-1978.  So much for trying to help those in need.

This same guy and story called the parsonage today! He used Scott Koren and 406-732-1978! I pray that God will help this man from continuing to do this type of behavior.

Do not EVER trust Scott!  Please get the word out to any and all pastors since that is who he targets.  His parents are both alive and to my knowledge he has never been married.  He does have one daughter who does not live with him and may or may not have a son who also does not live with him.   I have read the stories on the website and Scott is an accomplished liar.  I have known him his entire life since he was an infant.  He has been in and out of jail and rehab centers for drugs and alcohol since he was about 13 years old.  A couple of months ago he was living in Orlando and was working but I have no idea whether he is now.

I got the call from the same man, but number 407-485-8293.  Same scam story.  I found this sight and when I started reading to him, he hung up.

The same man called me at 11:30.  Gave the exact same story as the above.  Stranded in Fern Park, FL.  When I questioned where he lived he gave address just a block away from the parsonage.  Almost fell for his story.  He's "GOOD"!  Decided to go and check out where he said he lived and discovered that the there were no new people at those addresses.  Called back and when I said there was no place on that street where he could live . . . he hung up.

Scott Koren has a new number 321-460-3066. He called with the same story about the car problem on 05/28/2011. When I called back to confront him, he hung up.

Same story about his mom, visited our church with his kids, broke down car, needs money for a bus ticket. Used an address of a home for sale in our home town. Not too smart since our congregation is pretty small and we remember visitors. The number was 321-442-4206 and he used the name Scott Corn. He apparently is still at it.

I received a call from Scott Koren but it was from another number. Caller ID noted it was 321-442-4206 from Anne Conley.  He used the same line on me stating that his mother was killed by a drunk driver and he had his wife and two daughters with him trying to clean out his mothers house. He was on his way home to Grain Valley, a town near us, when his 92 Oldsmobile threw a rod.  He wanted the church to wire him  $125.00 for a bus ticket.  We talked about his mothers death a bit and he was pretty convincing with his story.  I checked local Fla.congregations but found no one home so I called him back on the number. He was upset when I offered numbers to local pastors instead of a wire transfer and promptly hung up the phone.  He needs help but not necessarily financial.

This call came from (321) 338-0748. But he went by the same name and had the exact same story!! He hung up when I started asking questions. CB

I am a pastor of a small church in VA. This man called me and said he visited my church a few weeks ago and met me. Being that I have only been pastor for three weeks I fell for the trick until I found this blog on Google and was able to have the money canceled. When I called him back he said he was trying to get the money and it was not available and still tried to tell me he was from the area. He even gave me an address of a home down the road, very tricky. Don't be fooled by this guy, he's very persistent.

Same guy, same MO. Called 5/32/10 at about 8:00pm. My daughter and son-in-law were visiting with us when he called, and they Googled his number. That's how we found this website. He said we had met at a church I pastored a month ago. When I told him I no longer pastored that church and that I had been gone from it for quite sometime, the only response I got was an immediate "click." This guy is parasitical, and obviously has great spiritual and moral needs.

Received a call late last night (May 30) with same exact story as above except he was stuck in Cessellberry, Florida and was calling from 407-644-3833.  Found these posts just in time. When "Scott" called back, we told him his scam was all over the Internet and that we would not be sending him money.

I received a call tonight at home from Scott Lawrence Kooren, wife Maryann, two young daughters (under age 5) named Jessica (age 4) and Denise (age 2).  Said his mother, 63-years-old, died after being killed by a drunk driver.  Funeral was yesterday.  They cleaned out her house.  He was on the way home to Moab from Florida, but his '91 Olds threw a rod and cracked the block.  He was trying to get home from Fern Park, Florida (I-4 area), and was short exactly $124.12 for the remaining 1/2 fare tickets for his girls.  He wanted me to send him the money Western Union to WinDixie grocery store, or Wal-Mart (problem is, there is no Wal-Mart in Moab...should have been my first clue).  He stated that he had attended services at our church several weeks ago.

He told me to call him back at 321-338-0748.  The caller ID came up with "Anne Conley 407-781-6257".

I won't be calling him back OR sending him money.

I received the same call today.  Scott kept dropping the call at convenient times and coming back with a different number alternating between the 6257 and 5257 plus once from 321-338-0748.
Scott said he got my personal number from a church bulletin he found in the 91 Olds as he was cleaning it out.  We don't put my number in the bulletin.
When I said that I would have to make a couple calls he put the time and guilt pressure on.

His number tonight was 407 781 6257.  Same name and very same story.  He said he lived in Va. Beach but the address he gave does not exist.  Do Beware this man is still trying to deceive.

This same guy called my house at 12:40am, said his name is Scott and that he visited my church a couple of times with his two daughters. Said that he was sorry for calling so late. He didn't give a reason for calling, but hung up on me when I said that I couldn't place him.
From reading these other postings, sounds like Scott is a scam artist preying on churches.

Same person called this AM, left msg listed as urgent. My number was assigned to a local church before it was given to me. Other people that have called stated that they got the number from that church's web site.
I make it a practice not to answer unknowns and would never send money to some unknown person. Seems this person is trying to take advantage of the good will of christians.

Sad to say that I got taken on this one...same guy, same names, when I asked exactly where he lived he gave me an address on the same street as my church...thought he was legit.  Sad.
