Just got a call from this number. Did not leave a message. Hung up.

Just got a call from this number  Guy said he was in the area and wanted to give me a quote on remodeling my kitchen. I said no thank you and he hung up

Called from this same number again 408-156-2323. Guy said his name was Thomas Johnston and they are finishing up in my area and would like to know if I want a free quote for work. When I required as to their company name, etc. They just said "nice try" and hung up. Hopefully they will get the message we know they are unethical people skirting the telephone consumer protection laws. I've actually gone quite a while without hearing from these guys. Also getting a lot of "Out of Area" calls with no number to ID saying they are hired to fix my computer which i know is a scam to try and give remote access to somebody in India or Nigeria to steal my money/ ID. Going to post to other reverse phone number webblogs/ websites.

I got a call from a rude man today, unsolicited. He just blabs and blabs with no regard for reply!

Just got a call from these idiots. This time it was a hang-up. Other times they say things like 'we want to give you a heads up about being in your area. We are doing work at a neighbors..... Blah, blah, When I asked them for the name and address of the neighbor they hung up. Do they really think we would fall for this crap? Regardless, they need to get stopped.

Received call; answered & it hung up.  Called to ask not to call again & number is not valid.

I should have reviewed it before answering because I didn't say it exactly right. I should have said, "please put me on your internal do not call list"  so next time I wil!

SCAMSCAMSCAM!!!!! I'm sure these are the same idiots that have been calling with various fake numbers and companies or charities. Hang ups if you don't answer, no message.

got a call from the same number. The guy said he works for a company called "security builders". "Doing work in your area and can we come by and give you a free quote?" .

The call I just received from 408-156-2323 was a hang-up. I am pretty sure it is the same group of telemarketers that have been hounding me the last few months from these other numbers: 650-364-6788, 650-365-3691, "private caller"- (Illegal for telemarketer to do), 408-262-4239, 408-262-4197. "We have a "technician" and/or "handy man" in your area that is able to provide you with a free estimate to A. help you save on your energy bill or B. increase your home's value.

The Hang-up is a predictive call system. The computer dials a bunch of numbers at once, looking for a pick-up. Once the line picks up and it is not a voicemail, the computer looks for an available rep to give you their pitch. If there is no rep available to take your call, it will hang up.

All I can say is: Document!! If you have caller ID, take photos of the date/time and caller ID of the call (to ask your phone service for the records is a hassle and costs money). Complain to the FCC and FTC. Complain with the State Attorney's Office/ District Attorney's Office in the Consumer Protection Unit. Perhaps if these government agencies get flooded with enough complaints, they will finally take action. These telemarketers abuse the Do Not Call registry, and other Telephone/Electronic Consumer Protection Laws. They will play musical chairs with the phone numbers (that they spoof). Asking to be placed on a company's do not call list is often ignored and they will call back again with a different rep from a different number. They tell you they are not telemarketers and exempt from the regulations regarding telemarketing because the service of estimating your home is free. (the LEGAL definition of a telemarketer includes  anybody who tries to obtain information for OTHERS to solicit goods and services).  

Sooooo- I have talked to : William Montgomery, Lisa, Calvin, "Rude Guy who would not give name" and Alejandro Rodriguez who claims to be the V.P. from National Renewable Energy Center (With a website that is registered with a bogus business address and telephone number- 5632 van nuys blvd, Van Nuys CA 91401 is actual a hole in the wall postal store- ?B & E Postal Center, P O Box Rentals, tel (818) 989-4334). and then there was Joe from Home Design, Inc. All were told not to call me. When I ask for their company address, numbers, they give me fake numbers. I document that too.

Most of all- Spread the word. Hopefully the more people know about these guys, the less people they will get as customers and the less money they will make.

I have gotten a few of these but just hung up when asked about construction work. This time I said put me on your don't call list. He hung up without responding.

Just got a call from this number. No message left on the machine. I didn't pick it up because 156 isn't a legitimate prefix as far as I know.

has anyone tried what mike finney reported on 7 on your side? "answer and say NO three times and it stops that marketer from calling"? he says that helps. say NO and put me on your do not call list. that is the thing he says works. i tried with this call, but since no on answers kinda hard to tell them no.

When I answered called said he was a handy man and would be in my area and did I have any work.  I replied "no" and asked him to take me off the do not call this.  He said he would not honor it because I didn't give him any work.  I asked him again and he replied the same.

Call from this number. No one answered and no message left. It says "Name not found" on my caller ID. I am getting very tired of these calls - about 20 from similar numbers in the last week or so. How do we stop it?
