I just got a call today from this guy who has an Indian accent. He said my computer was sending viruses to the universal server and wanted me to allow his access to my computer to "fix" the problem. I told him I didn't trust him and I was not going to give him access to my computer. He gave me a number and an email address. I checked the number on Google and that's where I came upon this site. I feel this is a scam. Everyone better beware!!! I do think someone with authority to do something about it needs to be aware!!!!

This # is still active.  I just got a call on my cell from an "anonimous" number and picked it up thinking it's legit. My cell # is on the DNC list for a long time.  The guy with accent (sounded like Indian or Middle Eastern) said he's calling from Global PC Experts, his name is Jeremy Spencer, and they monitor every Windows-based computer.  Then he started the same thing as described here (my home computer is doing this and that, will break soon, etc.).  I asked what exactly is wrong with my "home computer," and he immediately said to turn it on and he'll show me.  I asked for his #, and he gave me this number, at which point I hung up.  Does anyone know if FBI deal with these callers?  This sounds more serious than some stupid telemarketers.

These creeps called today and my wife answered while I was out. This # is from San Jose area, but scammers can trick call ID, so the non-American you can't understand is probably in India, etc. Told her our computer was sending error messages etc. and they want to fix it. Said it's Global PC Experts, and his name is Richard. Very similar to a scam calling itself Microsoft that has called us off and on for a year. Oddly, we just had a virus-attack despite having Kaspersky Security PURE 2.0! Infection came through a stealth-installed program called PC Optimizer Pro, (disguising itself as security-type software that will clean your hard drive of malware) that many reviewers say is itself a KEYLOGGING-MALWARE. Haven't been able to fix it yet. Oh, I'm writing this on my laptop, the infected computer is our HP Pavillion that my wife does online banking on, and Facebook stuff also, which is where I believe the virus got in. Back to the calls: Don't let them intimidate you. Last one I answered, I was fed up, and told him his company was a criminal operation. No calls from them lately, although I'm sure it's just a matter of time. These low-lifes never quit.

I just got a call from a very heavy India accented guy, telling my computer had send many error messages to their server. I told him I could not understand him and did not believe him about the errors. Told him to give me his number and I would call him back. He said his name was Richard. Called the 408 500-0777 number and a women with the same accent answered. She said she was with Global PC Expert, and online Tech support and the company was located in LA California. When I ask her where the call center was she got angry and would not answer my question. This is some kind of scam...Beware

If he remoted into your computer, he can do anything that you can do including installing malware, stealing files, storing pr0n, etc. The safest thing to do is to reformat and reinstall your OS.

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected-corrupted scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

gota call.  had me check the events on my computer.  I did and saw all kinds of warning. I was stupid to give him control  but at the time my computer was having trouble responding before he called.  And I did send error reports to microsoft because I was having trouble.

He put a washer which does nothing but clean files.  Then he tried to hit me up for money and access for my credit card.  I told him I would call later and for him to release my computer.  I will now use factory restore and and use microsoft essential security to protect my computer

They said the name of the company was Fix My Computer

I posted this on another forum as well:

I believe this is a scam.  I received a similar call today from some guy with an Indian accent.  He told me I have a virus and sent 100's of spam emails to their company.  I asked him what was the FROM email address and he could not provide it to me.  I then asked from what SMTP server did he receive these emails.  Again hesitation and no answer.  He then said they have my home IP (highly doubtful).  I asked him to provide to me the IP so I can run IPCONFIG and validate it.   He said they will call me back when they have more info.   I am still waiting for them to call back.

I believe he called someone (me) who knew more than him about computers and decided to bail.  We never even got to the point of discussing charges.

Prank Call
Just got a call from this guy - same deal - Indian type of accent - call center with other like individuals in the background with "customers".  I had a little fun with him!!!!  He said he was calling to tell me that he received notification that my computer was sending messages out to Microsoft and that I may be infected with a virus. I pretended to be horrified as my kids watched on in shock.  I asked him what I could do about it and he said, "don't worry.  That's why I'm calling".  He's going to log into my PC and fix it allllll for me.  YAY!  So while I pretended to boot up my PC I figured I would waste his time and I worked on my daughter's latest project.  Then I came back on and he instructed me to run a file on my PC which would basically give him what he needed to hack, I mean log into my computer to "help" me.  Yeah, right.  About this time I had had enough and told him that I was a network administrator and tech support specialist myself.  I told him that he needed to make money in a legal way instead of this and asked him if his parents would be ashamed of him.  He was flustered, mumbled something and hung up.  Was it something I said????    :-D

I received a call from this number just like everyone else very strong accent telling me that my computer was infected by some virus. I had asked for him to repeat what company he was with a few times.  I felt like it was a scam right after he asked me to turn on my computer and I had told him no that I wasn't going to do that. and after that I hung up my phone with him.

On 9/27/12 I also got a call from a man at 408-500-0777 claiming he was from Microsoft.  He had a strong Indian-sounding accent and told me that my computer was sending out messages letting them know that my Windows computer and my internet line were infected with a virus.  He told me I should fix this immediately,  or it would spread to all my computers as well as to other innocent people on the internet.

He tried to convince me that I should boot up my computer,  tell him my various secret passwords,  and that he would then fix everything for about $150 total.

I calles HP Tech support one day to let them know that I was having a problem with my printer , and after spending about a half hour on the phone with them, I was told that I had problems in my computer, and I explained that I was calling about my printer not my computer. I was told that for $99 dollars they could fix my problems . Well...after a few minutes longer I was told that this was NOT HP SUPPORT but...a third party support company. They were actually in my company computer and been calling me about every 3 days since then !!!!!  This is CRAZY !!!!!!!!       After getting the real HP support on the phone I told them of this scam and I was told that they are aware of it .......but that there was nothing that they could do .

I also have received calls from this no. twice saying that my computer is at risk.  Couldn't understand what he was saying, but went along with him for a while and he asked me to run a program and at that point I realized that this was come sort of scam and I told him that I was going to check it out and would call him back.  But he said "no" ; he would call me back.  I tried calling the number (408) 500-0777 and got the response that this no. is no longer in service.  He called again and with caller ID, i knew who it was and didn,t answer and he left no message.  THIS IS A SCAM

Telemarketer
My caller was 408 500 0777, let it go to voicemail, this is the 2nd call (but from another # that comes back to the issue here).

Heavy East Indian/Packistani Accent and some Con and it's I8-Tech.net, call your 'do not call' Government # and issue a complaint. It seems like VOIP and feigning phone #'s or have a link to the PTSN network here.
