called the number back and recording said to press 1 to put your number on the "do not call list" - that extension is always busy & no identification as to what company this is - and they let NO message on my answering machine - just seen their number on the caller ID list

Answered call from 408-587-2139, got a recording but couldn't understand what it was about. This is a very annoying call. They call my number several times a week. I have blocked the number but, somehow, they always call me back with a different number. I have 10 numbers from them blocked and they still get through.

called the number back and recording said to press 1 to put your number on the "do not call list. Pressed 1 and got a pre-recorded "Thank You." Hope this does the job.

caller ID has:Brooks Partners" wasn't home so call wasn't answered. Haven't yet figured out what good the Do Not Call list is, get more calls from numbers I don't know that I did two years ago.

I have asked this company to remove me FIVE TIMES OVER THE PAST WEEK ... They continue to call me. Where can I file harrassment Charges??? They say they are "Card Member Services", but the phone number is owned and operated by TM, LLC. I have been unable to locate this company, but I won't give up until I have it and am able to file charges against them. I have received over 100 calls from this company from 14 different phone numbers in the past 3 weeks.

Wanting to lower my credit card interest. Called the Indiana Attorney General.
kels 2011-06-06 20:48:13 Unknown
i have been getting calls from both of the numbers listed above as well... what did the attorney general say? is there anything that can be done?
Bobo 2011-06-06 20:48:13 Unknown
When the phone companies get repeated complaints about these calls why don't they cut off the service to that number. Wouldn't that be more effective than anything else? No refund of deposits, no refund of paid billings. Eventually, it would become cost prohibitive to the Freakin companies to do this type of calling.

Just got the call, lower credit card rate; caller ID PRIVATE SUITE. I'm also in Indiana, on federal and state no-call lists, and it's ILLEGAL to robocall in this state.

When I saw the call come up I thought maybe a family member was in trouble out of town on business and needed my help! Several are travelling right now! Although I did not answer and researched it this gets me mad, also as I am on the DO NOT CALL list and it seems to do no good especially in the evening!!!! Probably receive 3-5 calls a night!!! This was a new number I can add to my list!!!!

I'm getting a host of these calls on my brand new phone #, I guess the do not call list for it hasn't kicked in yet.
Regardless, pushed 1 several days ago and got a rep. When I asked her what call center this is, she hung up. Got the call again a few days aftr that. I pressed 1 and got a rep. I said could you please remove me from the list. She LAUGHED and hung up.
Got another one today, pressed 1 and got a guy. I said what call center is this from? He said huh? I said can you please remove me from the call list, I've gotten tons of these calls. He said sorry, ok. Lets see how it goes. Next step is FTC for sure. The kicker is today they came up as Steph Powers (great name) instead of the usual Brooks Partners (which sounds like a law firm).

So, what about people who have gotten a new phone number and repeatedly get called? It's my fault for moving, and maybe I should have to change my phone number 2, 3, countless times? It's called an automatic dialer. They go through entire area codes, usually with a spoofed number. Other than not answering the phone, try blocking each of the numbers. Unlike this marginally educated person trying to place the blame on the people on the receiving end, I'm trying to help. I get annoyed with these calls, too. Wish there was a better answer, but until the powers that be come up with something we're all pretty much stuck.

The DNC does no0t work on my land phone because it is a business account. I do have the DNC on my cell but they still get threw and this is how. They now use disposable cellphones and since they are registered to people and not companies they get threw the DNC protocol. I am trying to see if AT&T can block toll free inbound calls on my business line as this should cut the annoying calls by 50%. I've tried the trick of blowing a whistle into the phone but it only worked a couple of times. Sometimes I answer and say "attorney generals office"... since I don't saw which attorney general I am not really impersonating someone. They hang up quickly.

The FTC will tell you the same thing it told me:
You get these calls because of something you signed up for online, whether it was for more information on how to lower your debt or a job application that asked if you wanted more information on how to make yourself more marketable/expand your career choices (University of Phoenix and others)...
Even if you don't want them to call, once it takes you to the site - even if you back out without typing or clicking anything on that page - the moment you click on the link, it sends all the information you entered on the job app to these sites and it is then "implied consent," meaning that the "do not call" list DOES NOT apply. Live with it and quit whining.
It is your fault that you're getting these calls. Just be more careful what you click on in the future and block the calls on your phone like I do.

My number is on do not call list. They called anyway - I did not pick up. No message.
Lou 2009-10-13 21:38:23 Unknown
I'm going to download the free shareware autodialer software at http://www.voicent.com/download/dldindex.php and set it up to call them back many, many times. Even if they never answer, it will help to tie up their phone lines.

I am on the no call list and have been since it started. This caller keeps calling me telling me about me being eligable for a lower interest rate. Why can't something be done about this.

We are receiving these stupid calls and I 'm working in law firm.I called them back and told them that this is law firm and we are on DO NOT CALL LIST.Well, Emily(that is what she said her name is)was rude and when I told her that I will report them she was laughing. If you go to www.donotcall.gov you can file a complaint.I filed complaint today.

I got a call from 408-587-2139(not the first time i receive such a call). Like many other posts said, it was a machine offering a low interest rate.. blah blah blah. I pressed 1 to talk to an Agent to ask them to stop calling me. She was extremely rude. I asked her for her company to stop calling me, and she said that she didn't call me, I did:) can you believe her nerve?? I told them I am on the Do Not call list and they should stop calling me, and she said once again, that she didn't call me -that I did, because I pressed 1 to talk to an Agent. before I could say anything else, she hung up. I am so tired of those calls. Every time, it's a different # and they call every other day on my cell phone. What can we do to stop this? I am thinking of changing my cell # - it's ridiculous.
