I saw three calls made TO this number from my kid's phone on our bill, but no incoming call before that. Could he have been sent the number in a text message ?

I get calls from this number during school on a daily basis. I am a minor, and have absolutely no interest in receiving calls from telemarketers. I need it to stop. It's such an inconvenience to me.

I just received a call from this company on my (Bell Mobility) Cell Phone. My cell number also happens to be registered on the Canadian National Do Not Call Registry (I guess that's working isn't it?!?)

Ideally the predictive dialer (machine calling you) wants to detect a human being versus an answering machine. People typically answer the phone with a single utterance, like "Hello", or "Hi", or "Yah", versus an answering or voicemail greeting like "Hi, you've reached Bob and Carol, we can't come to the phone right now..."  If the predictive dialer detects a short utterance, they have a 'fish-on'.

In this instance, as I didn't recognize the incoming telephone number, I answered the call as "Good Afternoon, (my name) speaking..." and I got dead air, so I simply hung up and did a Google search on the Caller ID, and landed here...

I just got called too and I can only assume its stolen from our computers from a spy ware ? I just put it online for a contest for HGTV.ca I would sugest not answering it because they get power in the fact that you would answer at all (They have a chance to speek to you) In my experience they will give up at some point.

Received call, didn't pick up (long distance, I'm in Canada).
If they call again, I will be picking up and ask where they received my number from, and post back here (assuming they call back)

some more investigating:  the actual area is Los Gatos, CA; if any of you reading this thread and really want to know more about this number there is the Reverse Phone Detective that will give you a full report about the address and any other info about this phone number.  However, a fee does apply (so dont do it unless you absolutely need to know)

I, too, got a call from this number, with a computerized voice saying "Congratulations!  Your number has been chosen!  Press 1 now to receive your promotional gift!"

I just got my cell phone from Telus last week on the 6th of November. I've given my number to only a few people and some businesses like TD Insurance, Canadian Tire, HBC credit card, Epcor, Citizensbank Visa.

Has anyone here given their phone no. to any of these businesses? Maybe there is a commonality we share?
