I was told I was selected to receive a grant of $5,000 in two days if I confirmed my personal information. It was a really bad connection and the guy said his name was John Wilson. He had a VERY strong accent.  He couldn't answer simple questions like, what company he was calling from, etc.

yeah,beware of these guys!!i got the same call.the first number to call me was 4089165676.apparently,the two guys are working together to scam people.the next day i got a call from 4089161669 saying the same thing about making donations.i actually contacted the san jose police department.they told all kinds of different stories about who they worked for.

Got a call from this number and it did sounds like a scam and I told him so. Does someone knows how to stop them from calling others with there so called grant money? I am sure that they must scam people often. It is amazing that when you call back the number, he answers....

I justreceived the exact same phone call from John Wilson, a man with a very strong accent. He also told me that i was selected to receive a government grant of $5,000 and that the money would be deposited into my account within two days after i verified my personal information. The call sounded like a scam to me so i did not give him any personal infomation and hung up. Something needs to be done about this! What can we do...can he be reported or something, and to who? I hate to think that there may be people out there that actually fall for his claim of a government grant and give him their account info and get cleaned out. It makes me angry that someone would do that to innocent people!

I just received 42 calls from the exact same phone call from John Wilson, a man with a very strong accent I told him that the FBI is after them and he never called back.

My husband received a call from this number stating he would receive a grant of $5,000 in two days if he confirmed his bank information. The man's name was John Wilson, he had an accent. He called back the next day and said that we had to make a donation of any size of our choice, to a charity of our choice, via Western Union, and then the money would be deposited in our account. He hung up very quickly when he found out that the bank and consumer affairs were researching his phone number. My husband now knows not to fall for this junk.
