They just called again at 8:05 Sunday night, and we answered in an old lady voice. The woman, thinking it was mom, said it is the National Children's Center and wanted to know if mom had any clothes to donate. I wouldn't donate anything to a place that calls like this.

We have gotten a call several times from this number with the same name as everyone else, Louis Brager, and when we answer a woman says she wants to speak to mom. When we ask who is asking, she says, "Oh never mind," and hangs up. Very, very rude. It's now Saturday night, 8:15 and we just got another call. Next time, I am going to fake a mother voice and see what she does. After that I won't answer, but am going to report this caller.

They calling for "household donations" for pickup. Could be legitimate business working for charities, or could be a scam to get free things to sell & keep the money.
Their rep on the phone would identify who they are working for.
The worse ones are for "police benevolent", you know, officers killed in action. The police get decent money (in Calif $120,000 per year & 90% pension after 20 years & retire medical); it's a sweet deal and survivors get benefits until re-marrying or 65 (then the police pension). It's more risky working the midnight shift at a 7-11 & gas station than the police.
