Got a call from Marissa from Interstate Recovery Service saying they were collecting on a debt from 2008 for $600 from a payday loan group. She was very insistent on getting payment right now in order to get a break on the settlement down to $440. She said it was a debt owed to HICKS, which I had never heard of. She then mentioned a payday loan group that I had used back then. She sent me an email, but it didn't give any details about the debt itself. I finally had to hang up on her. I checked my email records from that time, and did have a few loans through the group, but they were all paid off, and I even used the service several times over the next year or so.
Either they are working off bad information, or it may be a scam. Either way, I'm not paying anybody over the phone for this kind of claim.
