Non-profit Organization
Just received a phone call from this number and was suspicious of their request to donate $100 for a police fundraiser.  They requested my credit card information that I would not provide.

They would not indicate a website but did offer to send written materials to my address.

A search of their phone number reveals a Middle River location.

Telemarketer
They call twice a day. Sometimes it only rings one or two times before they hang up.

Telemarketer
I tried contacting the Maryland Chiefs of Police Association, Inc. at (410) 516-9873. They do not answer (other than voice mail) and do not return calls. Neither could I find any evidence that the organization is tax- exempt nonprofit organization. This makes their calls illegal. My next step is to see if my local police chief is a member then "expose" him via the local newspaper.

marylandchiefs.org is the correct site for the Maryland Chiefs of Police Association, Inc., 6740 Alexander Bell Drive, Suite 350, Columbia, MD 21046, Phone: (410) 516-9873, Fax: (410) 290-1061, Email address: wvthompso@towson.edu. Interesting that this email address is at the Towson University. Anyway, call them and demand to be removed. If they are calling, they will remove you. If they are using a telemarketer, demand to be removed and the name of the telemarketer, then file a complaint about the telemarketer. That said,

The FTC will not take any action without a "significant" number of complaints. They will not say what makes a "significant" number of complaints. I suggest you do the following:

(1) file a complaint at
               https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2

(2) email or snailmail you congress-persons (Representatives and Senators) about the FTC's failure to enforce the Do-Not-Call list. Mention Donald S. Clark, Secretary of the Commission. This is the guy whose name appears on correspondence claiming they don't have enough complaints. (If you have a Republican, forget this step, their not interested in our problems or interested in accomplishing anything useful).

(3) call the FTC, Donald S. Clark, Secretary of the Commission at 1-202-326-2514.

caller said they were a non-profit for some kind of police. he knew my first and last name, and acted as if i had contributed last year wanting/asking for minimum donation of $25.00. i asked him to mail literature and he said since they're non profit that costs them money. i asked for a website and he gave me marylandchiefs.org (not sure if it's mdchiefs.org) of which i could find nothing about them.

Caller claims to be from a Maryland Chiefs of Police organization and is fund raising. I called the local police dept who will not verify that this is a legit organization. I have been scammed before by an organization years ago claiming to be police charity and they definitely weren't.
Beware of charity calls around the holiday season.

I have been getting a call from this number every night. Of course, there's no message left. Obviously a junk call!
