Just got a call from this number on my cell phone & did not answer since it's unknown to me. However, ALL my numbers--home, cell--are on the "Do Not Call" list & have been for years. So, clearly--as per this log & per other calls from telemarketers I've received--the list is not foolproof!! I'm reporting this # so hopefully this will be the one/only from them, but isn't there something else which can be done to protect consumers from this type of call--(which, by the way, costs me "minutes"/money according to my cell phone plan)! Very frustrating.

I received an "automated" message to my cell saying that my debit card had been locked, and if I wanted to unlock it, press 1. Then, it said "Enter the 16 digit number on your card." I hung up. Had my bank really been notifying me, they would have known the number. This is phishing for information on my card.

Got a call just now. Turned out to be a Debit Card fishing attempt using an automated system. Don't provide anything to them.

Also got one of these same calls at noon ET. Thank god it wasn't at 3 am. I thought it said my account had been "locked" not lost, but maybe I didn't hear it right. I do have a savings account with them but no debit card, just an emergency atm card that is locked in my lockbox, so there is no way it was lost. It said to press one but I thought it was fishy and hung up. I hope no one falls for this nonsense. :o(

First receiced calls at 1:00AM 415-252-5625. When call back to find out what was going on then the 410-697-5638 starts calling. Asking for the same info.
They are asking for a bank credit card number with HSBC which I don't bank with.

The aut9omated call stated that my debit card was `lost`. For more info, select ``1``when another recording clicked in. I hung up as it was my cell they were reaching. Now I see it was a hoax.

just got a call. It said in a computer voice that my HSBC debit card was about to expire and I should punch in my number for my credit card if I want to reactiviate it. I could tell it was suspicious because there were no other choices besides 1 or 2 and no operator

Got phone call from this number. Automated voice message about a card being locked. Pressed 1 to go to next message, which said to press 1 to reactivate card. Pressed 1 again and automated voice requested that I enter my credit card number. As suspected, a scam and I hung up.

Called on my cell at 345 AM. Recorded voice claimed my HSBC card was locked and to call security at this number. I dont have any accounts with HSBC and will call HSBC to complain. Especially being awakened at 345 in the morning.

My husband received a call from this number around 10pm MT. It was an automated voice that stated that he had lost his mastercard. We get really bad cell signal in our house, so the call got disconnected before we were asked to 'press 1' or anything like that..plus all of our CC's are safe and sound in our wallets. Anyway, I thought the call was a little odd, so I decided to google the number to see if anyone else was receiving calls. I plan on forwarding this information to my bank and the police tomorrow morning, hopefully they can do something about it before someone looses their info to these scammers.
same message for me 2012-01-12 05:15:13 Unknown
"Mastercard has been locked. To reactivated. Please Press 1 now and you will be transferred to our 24 hour security department."
Thanks for posting

I very, very rarely get calls like this so when I got this one I was surprised. I didn't recognize the number, so I didn't answer. After coming here, I'm glad I didn't bother. I am curious as to how they got my number. The only places I gave my number out that was out of the ordinary was ToysRUs.com and animenation.com : 2 places I ordered xmas gifts from. By chance, did anyone else here use either of those for their holiday shopping this year?

got a call and was an automated message saying my debit card had been temporarily shutoff and asked for my card number, expiration, and pin code. Obviously a credit scam, so be careful!

Just receievd a call from this number 410-697-5638 with what sounded like a robo voice mumbling incomprehensible things and then saying you will now be connected to our security department etc so I hung up

I received a call from "HSBC" on my cell phone stating my debit card had been locked. I do not have an HSBC card of any kind. Obviously they are looking for identity info to access accounts.
Tim 2012-01-06 22:14:34 Unknown
Some HSBC voicemail telling me to press one to speak to a representative.

Just received a call from this number saying my credit card had been locked, to reactivate it please press 1.... since I received this call on my cell phone I knew from the start it was a scam becuase I never give out my cell number. Trying to collect info on me! Did not give a company name even.
Joe 2012-01-06 17:24:49 Unknown
Well it is Jan 6, 2012 and from reading above....nobody seems able to care about locking these scammers up!!
Had the exact same scenario as most above. Automated voice that got my bank correct but then said my debit Master Card had been locked and to push 1 to reactivate or 2 to cancel.
I have no debit or Master Card...so I pushed "1"to follow the scam along and see what they might ask... had a really "offshore style" low muddy telephone ring...hung up to be sure I was not possibly run through some long distance server/switch to charge me long distance calls.
I'm sure it would have been the same as above...looking for CC # and other info.
Matt 2012-01-06 00:56:45 Unknown
Got a call from (410) 697-5638 too. Same as above, robot voice, my account is locked, press 1 to unlock, strange background noise, then asking for 16 digit CC #. Hung up right away. SCAM!!!!

got a call from this number at 6:40pm EST and it was an automated voice with a British accent saying my HSBC mastercard had been locked and to reactivate press 1. I don't have an HSBC mastercard. I didn't do anything and was disconnected.
