Actually it isn't the ADA. It is an individual company who is raising funds on their own and not sponsored by the ADA. From what my state agency says is that as long as they give "some" to the ADA they can keep the rest for expenses. Needless to say they donate very little. We have the same problem in our location with people raising funds for the local police.

I receive daily calls from the 301, 410 AND 434 area codes, sometimes several calls a day!! Even when i answer the phone i am met with a hang-up.I am going to contact the ADA and request to be removed from their list as well as report this to my phone carrier. I have an unlisted #!!

We keep receiving frequent and annoying phone calls from number (410) 774-8230. When I called the number to ask to remove our number from their database we keep getting a recording that says "your entry is invalid".

Getting calls from - 410-774-8230 Crofton, MD. I don't know anyone in MD. I hope these annoying calls can be stopped! I am on a no call list and that doesn't seem to be working!

Me too, then just hang-up...?
JO 2012-06-19 19:33:35 Unknown
Caller ID in my case simply said "Maryland"
KarenLL 2011-07-21 22:28:38 Unknown
Yep, I keep getting multiple calls from them every day. Tonight I got fed up and actually answered the phone. The person on the other end said "Mrs. Brooks...." who I am not so I told her she had the wrong number. She apologized and hung up. I am tired of these endless ffing calls. This was from the 434-878-9983 number tonight but I have gotten calls from the other phone numbers as well.

You must supply a phone number if you expect them to remove it
Additionally....this site is not the correct forum.
The offending Company should be contacted directly :)

do not violate the no-call setup

I had calls every day from ADA at 703-291-9032. I put them on my AT&T list to block them. Now they call from 434-878-9983. I'm sure if I list that number on my blocked calls that they will just start calling me on the 410 number. Isn't this considered harrassment?

We do understand your need for funds as do all organizations. You are bombarding us with phone calls as well as mailings. You don't even have the decency to leave a message. This does not set well with us. If we had money to contribute every time you called or mailed us something, we would send it but, during this difficult time, with the economy the way it is, we are very limited as to what we can give to anywone.
Our phone number is listed on the "Do Not Call" List and we are asking you to please respect this. PLEASE DO NOT CALL 864-234-5367 again. When we do have funds to mail to you, we will be happy to do so.

his email is lhausner@diabetes.org. By the way he makes over $500,000 a year and has a travel budget for his wife (source: IRS 990 for 2008). That's lots of donations over the dinner hour. SHAME!
Fog-fl 2011-06-06 20:48:24 Unknown
They've called every day for 3 weeks. Never leave a message.
E and R 2011-06-06 20:48:24 Unknown
calls all day every day and leaves no message. extremely annoying. caller id is ADA, and we have no idea of who they are or represent.
E and R 2011-06-06 20:48:24 Unknown
reference above complaint,
the caller id is the ADA american diabetes association. they refuse to leave messages hopeing that you will get tired of the calls and answer the phone. this is their policy when seeking money.
very annoying and just wrong for them to treat possible donors this way.
be decent and leave a message.

My late husband had diabetes and some complications, but I refuse to respond to telephone solicitation, especially when they also send out paper mailings.. I did call the number back one time and I got a person who told me they continue to call until someone picks up the phone...Charities are exempt from the do-not-call list, by the way...

STOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP CALLING ME!! SOOOOO FFFFING TIRED OF IT! WHY should charitable organizations be except from the DO NOT CALL LIST?????
Mr. M. 2011-06-06 20:48:24 Unknown
These people are solicitors for the American Diabetes Association (ADA). It's a worthy organization, but their callers are outright pests.
I use the following line with all telephone solicitors: "I do not discuss contributions over the telephone. If you want me to contribute, send me something in the mai; and I will give it all of the consideration I think it deserves." If they persist, repeat the first sentence and ask, "What part of that do you not understand?"
Telephone beggers (or salespeople) do not deserve any additional politeness. They are using your facilities, property, and time for their own benefit. Don't be shy about having some fun at their expense. Be creative!

ADA calls everyday with no message. I have answered the last 2 day's only to be hung up on. My mother in law has diabetes and I am sure it is a good cause. I will not be giving money to this organization.
Ron 2011-06-06 20:48:24 Unknown
These people have driven me away from sending them any money. They flood you with mail and pester you to death with phone calls ,everyday they call and leave no message.
They can stick'it.

Their CEO is Larry Hausner, out of Washington DC
Does anybody have his HOME phone number?
I'd like to call him AT HOME to have my number removed from the list.
I find that this tactic works *extremely* well.

I receive a call from this number every day. I work at a school and I can see the number on my caller ID. I answer every time and no one is on the other end and the call is dropped every time. It is very annoying, to say the least.
Robert Hughes 2009-11-16 16:20:23 Unknown
I get an unsolicited call from this number just about every day. If I answer no one says anything. If I let my voicemail pick up it immediately goes to a busy signa. I am on all know no-call lists.

Calls daily-no one is ever on the line when I answer. If my answering machine picks up, it is a recording from operator---"please hang up the phone"--it is driving us crazy.
Christopher D. Prall 2009-09-17 18:25:11 Unknown
Please remove my name from you calling list
Shirley 2009-08-19 13:35:48 Non-profit Organization
Having a diabetic niece, I want them to be successful. But they are aggressive beyond what is reasonable. For weeks now, they have been calling every day, often twice. Usually nobody is there when I answer the call. When I called back, I was given the option to be removed from the list; then told it would take up to 30 days. We'll see...

get this call several times a day.I have sick members of my family and this is very disturbing.I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST IT DOESNT DO ANY GOOD.AND YOU CANNOT BLOCK THEM OUT.Last thing to do is to disconncet my phone.
sal 2009-07-15 12:13:51 Non-profit Organization
Received four calls yesterday, despite asking them to take my name off the list. This is harassment, and if it continues I'll look into suing the organization.
