Prank Call
I received a call from special agent David Moore and he left the same message described by others. He is using the phone number 617-701-7512. Thank you for the info. Now I know I'm dealing with a criminal.

This person calls and then identifies himself as a police officer, he ask for money to keep you or a family member from going to jail. This is scam, do not listen to him, he has been reported to numerous people by the Criminal Investigation Center. Under no circumstances should you ever believe what he is saying or put him on hold and contact the phone company to trace the number, it only cost $1.00 to do this. He called me this week and asked for me and I told him he had the wrong number, he said I'm a police officer and I said I'm a bi*** and he hung up. Then I contacted Criminal Investigation Center and they are aware of this and said thank you for reporting it.

Prank Call
I just received a call from 410-929-7739 and the man on the phone ask for me, I told him he had the wrong number, he said I'm a police officer, and I said and I'm a BI***! Well he hung up on me. This is a scam, he is trying to scare people and get money out of them. If you get this call and he says he has your children, mother, father, grandparents, brother or sister, or spouse..he's lying. Call Criminal Investigations (800-521-5783) and report him. They can't do anything unless money was involved, but call anyway. This person needs to be stopped!
Also please get all the information from this guy so we can put him behind bars where he belongs. Impersonating a police officer is a crime. The call is located from Easton Maryland on a landline.

I received the exact same phone call, from the same "Special Agent David Moore" of the FDA. The particulars of the call were verbatim what the parent message (in this thread) stated. I called the criminal investigative number for the FDA that was listed and left a message.
I want to express my appreciation for those people who have written these messages regarding the scam. I was mildly freaking out until I found these messages.

Rec'd call from special agent David Moore from the FDA.  Initially asked me to answer a few questions about a pharmaceutical  Co. under FDA investigation.  Stated I  had previous business with this Co. and had been previously interviewed by FBI agents about the matter.   I asked the name of the Co. and he responded, "JUST USA MEDS".  He became angry/agitated when I asked him to spell the first word, JUST.  He then accused me of violating Federal Law 200+something by attempting to smuggle (by mail) a controlled substance "sleeping aide" through Dominican Republic US Customs on 2/23/07.  At my repeated denials of any knowledge off this he clarified who I was with my correct full name and address. He became more pushy and and angry. He stated that if I didn't cooperate he would turn  matter over to the "local authorities".  I was told I was facing a 3-4 year felony federal prison sentence.  He also blubbered how he was trying to get me to help myself  and I should quit "lying". I was harshly instructed to admit  I did order this drug  intercepted by US Customs. I smarted off by saying the only drugs I get are from the local drugstore which I pick-up by car and wouldn't even be able to point to the Dominican Republic if given a map. He responded with harsh threats of arrest and imprisonment. He then  mentioned this pharmacy was involved with smuggling heroin and cocaine.  I  panicked.  Before hanging up I told him my lawyer would be calling and there would be no further discussion with me.
I've got this conversation on tape.  After several tape reviews I  figured out it was a scam -- but not before losing a few years of my life.  BTW His voice and speech patterns are eerily  similar to those of Judge Perry from the Casey Anthony trial.

What you can do to eliminate these jerks from harassing you is the following:
If you have Comcast or Verizon etc. as a phone carrier, you can sign in and make changes to and/or modify your account settings.....(usually under the tab, "Account Management") by either forwarding there number to the FDA or FBI Criminal Investigations Unit or your local Police Dept. or simply block there number. Maybe they'll get the hint and stop harassing you. Good luck and catch the klucks!!

Thanks for posting these warnings. I too was worried at first when I received a call at work and at home by this so called, "Special Agent Moore". (Don't know why, because I haven't done anything)

I too reported it to the FDA CIU and I hope to God they catch these *@!@!@!'s.

My nephew is a cop and they don't want to screw with me. He loves catching these Perps. I'll take it as far as I have to until it stops and I get results... no matter how much it costs. I will get back to you and post the outcome.  People like this need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. There is no excuse for this BS.  We can put a man on the moon, but yet we can't trace these calls back to the originator, find these A-holes and prosecute them? Who has time for this harrasment?

Again,....thanks very much for the heads-up and great post!

Prank Call
Same thing just happened to me.  Same as Didn't Get Me.  Asked me for $2000.00 or I would be arrested today.  They even played a fake police radio in the back ground.  Called the FBI and reported it.  They confirmed the scam.

THIS IS AN EXTORTION SCAM. Scammers pretend to be law enforcement (police, sheriff, Feds, AG's Office, fake cop agencies with made-up names) and may be using bought/hacked loan application data to extort money or personal info for fictitious crimes.

Prank Call
I received the same call today.  Had me worried for a few minutes, but as I was pulling up this website and waiting for his "supervisor" to come on the line the call was terminated.  These people have harrassed me for a couple of years with calls several times a week and sometimes several in a day.  I have told them time and time again to stop calling me or I would report them.  I am at the point where I don't answer my phone unless it is a local or recognized number.  They fooled me today since it was one coming in from my area code.  I hate to have to change my telephone number, but I may be getting to that point if these calls continue.

Prank Call
Received a phone call from Special Agent Moore of the FDA stating that I had purchased prescription drugs over the internet in 2007 that had been intercepted from the Dominican Republic because this particular company also exported cocaine.  He said a warrant had been issued for my arrest and I going to be arrested and "deported" to the Dominican Republic to face charges there.  I asked what the charges were and was told "the exportation/importation of prohibited substances".  I also asked where I could verify this warrant and was told the local police department and to tell them to check the "international criminal database".

At this point I asked who his supervisor was and he informed me it was Lt. Ruiz (which he could not pronounce correctly but spelled it for me when I asked) so I asked to speak with him.  I was put on hold and at this point Lt. Ruiz came on the line informing me that he had agents that were close to my residence and I needed to hold on a minute so he could radio the agents and tell them not to approach my home because he was speaking with me.  Heard him using a walkie talkie informing whoever not to approach me and someone responded saying they received the message.  He told me he could see I did not have any criminal record and I confirmed that and told him I worked for the US government and he promptly told me I was going to lose my job.

He then tells me I should report to my local "prison" and turn myself in which I questioned and he corrected it with Sheriff's Office and I told him no, I would be contacting a lawyer.  He started to get a very aggressive/angry tone and told me this was not going to play out my way and I needed to report to be arrested.  He asked me if I was at my residence and I told him no (not adding where I was) and he said he would have to come to my job and arrest me in front of my co-workers.  I told him I was a US citizen and had the right to counsel and at that point he told me I did not have a right to counsel.  I asked him to give me a phone number where I could reach him after I had spoken with my attorney and was given the number listed above and he told me that he was tired of messing with me and was trying to be nice but he was through and I was on my own.  I hung up at that point.

I called the local sheriff's office who didn't have a clue what I was talking about but told me to come in to the office with my idea to verify a warrant and in the meantime my co-worker found this website.  We called the number back and got an answering machine that said it was the "Food & Drug Administration Service" and to leave your name and docket number and to "have a blessed day".

These people had me really upset and scared and I thought, at the time, it could be legitimate because I was never asked for any money.  If I had been I would have realized it was a scam.  Not sure why he never reached the point of trying to "work it out" with a funds transfer but maybe I asked too many questions and was so insistent about my right to counsel he decided I wasn't worth the effort.

I just wanted to post this because I did not see the above number listed as one of the numbers they call from and to inform people it is still happening as of May 2011.  I did call the FDA's Office of Criminal Investigations (800-521-5783) and reported the incident.  I was told they were aware and there was an open investigation.  I also reported it to NCIS because the phone call was received on a US Navy phone line.  NCIS was making a report on it.
