My family also got a call from this number and we got the land line in the triple play from Verizon. My dad was home with me when this number called us at 5:33pm today and we didn't answer it. We told someone to put our number on the "do not call" list so, we wouldn't have to deal with telemarketers junk and it's been less than a month since we first got Verizon.

Caller ID always says Call Center MD.  I got tired of getting the calls from them.  Every two to three months, they start all over again with the calls multiple times over the course of the day for weeks.  I was going through a personal crisis when they called during their last cluster of calls in June and I asked they just remove me from their list.  Of course, the calls just continued.  So I blocked their number.  Checked the log, and sure enough, they still attempt to call (thankfully the calls don't come through to my phone). That call before 9 this past Saturday would have ticked me off.  Interestingly enough, since the blocked calls, they have a double listing.  Not only do I get 410-968-7985, but at the same date/time, I also get 412-816-0000 that also says Call Center MD.  So I'm guessing that they are redirected calls.  Once could have been a coincidence, but this has happened every time since I added them to my block call list.

They keep calling me from this number everyday asking for megan brown! they also called my sons ipod

I asked who they were and they hung up.  They can't be needing donations that badly unless they are lazy scammers who only know how to lie cheat and steal.

Called @ 8 AM, no one on the other end. AACPFF I believe is the Anne Arundel County Professional Fire Fighters

I got the same ID "AACPFF" on my caller id today at 12:02 pm.  I wasn't home at the time.  No message was left.  I usually don't answer if I don't know who it is.

Called at 8:29am, I didn't answer.

This is the message from 410 968 7985:

If these people are calling for the Anne Arundel County Professional Fire Fighters, why does INTELIUS show them in Somerset County, the city of Crisfield, Maryland. Why would they call the folks in Florida. When the call went to the answering machine, all we heard was breathing.

For the record these jurks have been calling me off an on for over a year now. I have told them nicely to start that I was not interested. After the 3rd time in the same day to say the least I was not so nice. I have friends on the PG county police department who I ask about the problem. They informed me that this is a scam that if the police, fire, rescue or any other unit of such needs donations they will never call you. They will host a fundraiser of some sort. No phone calls or mailings. So I am sorry if anyone bought into these scams but for future record they are a bunch of BS.

Received call at 5:11 p.m. on my cell phone.  When I answered, the party wanted to know if this was the XXXX family.  When I asked who was calling, they hung up.

Phone rang, AACPFF comes up on the caller ID and then when you answer it, the number hangg up.

Multiple calls from this number.  Sometimes back to back.  Also, hung up on me when I did answer: annoying.

I let it ring, figuring it was an unsolicited call.  Also believe AACPFF stands for "Anne Arundel County Professional Fire Fighters" (a local IAFF Union).  Probaly looking for donations.

To the above poster, that isn't necessarily true. The Maryland Sheriffs, for instance, is legit.

HOWEVER, this particular phone number is now calling my cell phone, which I do believe is illegal.

Received a call from AACPFF, when I answered they wouldn't say anything I could hear them on the line. I do not think that any professional fire fighters would make calls like this, I heard that random telemarkers can change their name to appear on your caller ID display anything they would like so that they are not detected.  I guess I'll go back to what I usually do...Not answer calls I don't recognize!

They called me on 12/20/09 about donations, and we're snowed in with the largest snowfall ever recorded for the month of DEC in the DC metro area. I told the guy I just payed someone 50 bucks to shovel my driveway and my donation fund is now broke. He said he'd call back next month and hung up. I figure it's a small business jerk that gets his kicks ripping off good honest hardworking folks. Everythings a joke to this type of gypsy living small business person that worships only money.

I have received calls from this number and another "MD COP" number that is similar...just received one and it is 9pm...  no one ever leaves a message...  I don't answer numbers that I don't recognize, ESPECIALLY after 9pm... NO ONE should solicit at that time of the night!!!  When they call, they always breath on the answering machine for a good amount of time before hanging up... another number to block... so annoying!

I just got a new LAN line for use with my security system.  I have never given my number out.  This number has already called multiple times in the past few weeks.  Thankfully I know better to answer it.  Is there a database out there of "new" numbers that these parasites use?

These are professional fundraisers calling.  They contract with organizations like police and fire benevolent associations and do all the calling.  They sure make it sound like it's a firefighter on the other end of the phone, and they talk about widows and orphans, and programs they have for disadvantaged kids, etc.  What these professional fundraisers do is take the bulk of the money they collect as a "fee."  Very little goes to the organization they're collecting for.

I used to have this number blocked, but they hadn't called in so long that I unblocked it to make room for another number.  Now they're back.  Time to block again.

I didn't pick up.  Funny to hear my phone's Talking Caller-ID feature try to pronounce it.  "Ack-pff" indeed!
