Debt Collector
Got this call (412-342-5993)today from the guy name Agent Roy Miller, ID#79402. He said that I owe IRS for $954.27 for the past 3 years. He also said that there are a miscalculation on my tax since President Obama change the law. I said I need to talk to my accounting and asking why the IRS never send me a letter regarding this. He said they don't do with mail and only by email. He then ask me my credit card information and ask me to pay right now or the police officer will arrive at my front door the next morning to put me in jail and I have to face the higher court and will cost me more than $12000.00. I disagree to pay without consult with my accountant and lawyer. He is a little upset and ask me to sit down, take a deep breath and drink a glass of water. In the end he transfer me to his head name Agent Adrianne Murphy (ID#18164). He starts yelling and screaming on me and told me to pay right now otherwise I go to jail. When I refused, he start to say,"Mam!don't play dumb!". Do you think I am your servant!.Do you think I like to call you like this! Tell me, do you think I am your servant!". I quite and ask him to send me the email for the confirmation letter. After I receive it then I turn off the phone. I think everybody need to report them.

Debt Collector
412-342-5993 Scammers!

Had the same basic experience as others who have reported this number. Very rude and nasty guy. Started in with the "criminal investigation" and "financial crimes" unit, had last 4 of my SS#, could find me on facebook (not really, I'm not on facebook).

Somebody should tell these guys that owing money on a loan is a civil, not a criminal matter in the good old USofA. Debtors prison was abolished like 200 years ago. The tipoff was that they had basic public information, when you get down to it, and none of the information that a true investigator or even a legitimate debt collector would have. Refused to give an address, email, website or anything where someone could check. Getting any of this would "impossible!" Why impossible if they're legit?

Oh, and of course, they needed a credit card numer right away, to "take care of this." Problem is, I think they are hooked into some kind of real financial info database where they can get just enough information to fool the fearful or unwary. Don't be either. They're crooks.

This person with an accent called my place of employment today 09/11/13. . They told me that I had taken out a cash advance loan. I asked when and with what company? He said he didn't have the exact name because they own several companies. I said what date and how much. The man told me back in April or May. I was driving home and pulled over. I told him I never got any money, but I'll check my bank statements. I looked all the way back to 11-01-12. That's when I decided to Google the number. This person was very threatening saying he was going to report me to the police for check fraud. I've never even had a parking ticket. If he calls at work again I'm telling him I informed the police about this hoax..

Had a minute plus message on the phone for a Clara Bixby (not my last name -- not even close) that said I needed to contact Roy Miller at 412-342-5993 and that there was a warrant out for my arrest... that I had better call before they showed up at my place of work.
I called back and left a message for them that i had contacted the police and that the case had been assigned to an officer (I gave a name) and that they would be hearing from them...I may or may not have used some nasty and inappropriate language...sigh.

They called me both on my mobile and my home number, I actually listened to the whole deal, apparently I owe United Cash Loans $352, so I can either pony up or this investigation company would take me to court for $2500, they had papers ready.  I told him that I was recording our conversation, because when I pull up the number I show all kinds of fraud..........he (very) quickly said "thank you" and hung up the phone.  I turned in the number to the FTC, because someone will fall for this and pay them money that doesn't belong to someone in India!

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

A person called from this #. I could not understand his name clearly as he spoke with an accent and he stated that he was from Financial Clients from the Investigations Department. He stated that I needed to return his call due to some information that is linked to my social security number, mailing address, and email address. I do not intend to call back as this is a scam and was tried on me previously by another person with a different number. They did not continue with their hoax after I began questioning them and trying to verify their information. Do not be fooled! I told this person to mail me a lawsuit.
