Just got a call on my home phone and my cell phone within the same minute. Don't have children, and don't have any connection to Children's Hospital. My cell number is very protected, and I'm sure this is a scam. Glad I didn't pick up either time.

its the nurses phones they carry around, they can make outgoing calls when they arent allowed on their cell phones, but they cant accept incoming calls unless they're from in house.

Children's Hospital of PIttsburgh. Called it back and it says "we're sorry, you've reached a non-working number at Children's Hospital, check the number and try again"
Weird because I don't have kids.

Just got a call from this number. Called it back and I get a recording that says "We're sorry, you have reached a non-working number at Children's Hospital of PIttsburgh. Please check the number and call again."
Weird because I don't have kids. Unless they're looking for donations or something?

Who is making these calls?
| Belinda D 2011-05-21 22:41:28 Unknown |
This is a number from children's hospital of Pittsburgh. I received a call from them today. My son was recently in the hospital and they were probably calling to check up on him. I did not recognize the number at first. While I agree they should leave a message which they could just leave a name and telephone number to call back, those of you threatening to report them are ridiculous. This has to be one of the absolute best hospitals in the country. In fact people fly here from other countries to be seen there because of their expertise. Their doctors and staff are absolutely amazing, their care is unmatched anywhere. Im sure the call was an error because they are not allowed to make solicitation calls. And good luck calling the attorney general children's hospital is part of UPMC in Pittsburgh which is the biggest chain of hospitals not only in Pittsburgh but around the world.

Just to add to the mystery, the 412-692-5052 Children's Hospital non-working number - just called my cell a short time ago. Two minutes later, I received another call from a different number ending in 8125 - originating in Natrona Heights or Oakmont PA.
I called the first 5052 number - got the recording 'Non-Working Pittsburgh Children's Hospital number, then I called the other one you've provided for a doctor at Pittsburgh Children's Hosp. - it is not her (She's the one you listed above). I spoke directly with her at length - at the number you provided...She didn't originate these calls - nor did she know anything about it. A very nice lady by the way!
She gave me another number at Children's to call and I did. They were of no help but hey, I tried - HIPAA again... (I also was worried that some poor child was in Children's and that they might have been trying to call family so the responsibility existed for this to be ruled out.)
Shortly afterwards, I received another call from an Enhanced Recovery Corp -a Collection Agency searching for a party that -- I DO NOT KNOW. They showed on the caller ID as 800 Service and 800-390-7586. From everything I can dig up on them, they are unscrupulous and quite frequently violate the law in their collection agency efforts.
I'm beginning to think that the number in question here 412-692-5052 is not actually calling from Children's Hospital, but is in fact, Enhanced Recovery Corp. spoofing their 'calling from' numbers. Which by the way is illegal.
Enhanced Recovery Corp. must employ some nimrods that think that they are slick - but obviously they aren't that bright or they'd not be stupid enough to bring medical professionals into it. I hope to goodness that someone sues the britches off of them and if they do, I have some phone records that might be rather helpful in that pursuit. I am tired of these idiots calling me repeatedly over the last few months looking for someone that I have informed them that I do not know...they clearly are a bunch of moronic losers.

A male's voice: "A non-working number at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.", was the message I received, when I called back Feb 9, 2011. The original call was from frail woman's voice, asking if I could verify Brianna's date of birth. After a few of my loud What, Whats... she apologized, and said she was from Children's Hospital, and must have dialed the wrong number. OK, it's all up & up, Kosher, and with those isolated facts, totally innocous. EXCEPT, how long has Brianna been in the hospital? Got the same call on my cell phone over 3 months ago. At that call, Brianna was supposed to have been my granddaughter.
OK you slewths, whadda you think...????
No, not paranoia; Just curious & inquisitive.!!!!!!

I called several long distance numbers until I knew they were doing perfectly fine. 4.MY NUMBER IS UNLISTED. Im not sure why Im posting this. This site does nothing except allow you to vent with other aggrivated individuals.

Missed a confirmation call from Childrens Hospital, just had a local doctor appointment and they were trying to call back to confirm a preliminary appointment time with me, like usual CHP changes their numbers TOO often, they have just moved part of their outpatient operations to another facility and everything is still screwed up from the move.

Same thing here. Gotten a call from the "Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh".
I see two options here: Either:
- The Children's Hospital have got a huge opportunity managing the correct phone numbers or mis-typing them would be common or
- some "company" calls random numbers, the perplexed victim calls back, and all s/he gets to hear is just an answering machine saying it's not possible to leave a message and - hey, presto - your number has been stored in their caller-ID history. Good value for them so they "know" which numbers are for real for further telemarketing use or some others of these "soliciting calls".
Guess the 2nd Option to me sounds much more likely; I mean, what is the chance I get a call from them where, number one: I have a phone number starting with an Arizona local code (928) AND number two, which tops it all, I'm living in Europe, using one of these MagicJacks I got when I was in the USA a while back.
Conclusion, just don't call back this number.

I just got a call from here too. It's very bothersome as I have two kids and I'm sitting here not knowing whether one of my kids got hurt - I'm trying to get my wife on the line. No message, nothing.
NOBODY knows my cell phone number except for family. I don't get solicitation calls because my number is very very private.
This is more than just an irritance. This is causing actual distress. Once I get a hold of my wife and ensure that everyone is ok I will probably call the attorney general.
This is completely unacceptable.

Number is coming from Children's Hospital, but as others have said, when you cal it back, you get their goofy recording stating that you cannot leave a message and they cannot tell you who called you. We had an individual that really needed to contact us about their four year old. She said "call me back at this number." Only by voice recognition did we figure out her trauma and finally got her several days later about her daughter's surgery. She needed help WHEN SHE CALLED not several days later. Children's Hospital should get their act together and at least tell people their main number to call back without having to go find a phone book for such emergencies.

If it's Children's Hospital, their records are really screwed up. I don't have an appointment with them yet they've called at least five times today. When I answer, nobody says anything.

I used to work at children's hospital. They're probably calling to confirm an appointment. If we call a patient, for any reason even if it's not medical, we can't leave a message due to the Hippa laws I just say please call back. Not all doctors/hospitals are this stringent, and even different doctors within Children's can be different. Some will say the persons name and reason for the call, i.e. confirming an appointment, calling with test results, some will say just the patients name, some just the hospital, etc. It's all up to the individual office manager and how they want to interepret the hippa rules.

I got the same weired number from the so called Children Hospital of Pittsburgh. I am not sure what is going on. But I am sure, if it was a real call they would have left a message for you to call them back.
