I got this one yesterday from "Susan" with a web address and then one today from a North Dakota (701) area code and THAT one had some sort of video as a part of it--I deleted it before it had a chance to load.

text message said "Susan said to send this to you" - url was http://bit.ly/VaeVCH - (fake) offer of an ipad3 from (what looked like) Verizon - then rolled over to an insurance company ad. and unmerry X-mas to these folks and coal for their stocking (or dogs**t)

i just got the same text message sent to my cell phone
my guess is either the link is a virus of some sort or IP cature.
Or could just be mass marketing

spam text "Susan said to send this to you" with a website address....don't know a Susan, would imagine that the web address captures your IP info or some other personal info and sends it on to the next vulture, plus your phone number gets verified as a "live one"..no thanks!
