We receive this call everyday around 6PM.No answer when we pick and Caller id says Out of Area.

I just got a call from this number now. I googled it and found this thread. Don't recall giving my phone number to the Red Cross ( I rarely give it and it's private) and if so, surely not for the purpose of being solicited.

Glad to know who is behind ALL of these annoying calls right as I'm cooking dinner for my family. Yes, Ms. O'Brien those calls are still going out.

I am with the American Red Cross Northern California Blood Services Region and I wish to offer our sincere apologies to all of you for these nuisance calls. We have been trying to figure out the problem since we received some of your complaints in December and we finally figured out on 1/7/08 that it was a technical problem with one of the vendors we work with to make calls on our behalf.
We have asked the vendor to stop making calls immediately. If anyone receives calls from this phone number in the future, please contact me - obriensj@usa.redcross.org or 510-594-5300.

FYI... Go to the non-blood issues and submit a complaint to the American Red Cross at the following website. Perhaps if they get enough of these they will address the issue.

Follow-up on my 12/15/07 post ("I'd seen this number in the evenings and never answered it. But this morning, they started..."). Tonight, FINALLY, there was someone on the other end! It did sound like it was really the Red Cross, and they wanted to schedule me to come in to donate blood.
I told the caller all about this problem, including the fact that if she Googled this number she'd find many reports of the problem.
Because this was first time, out of many calls, that there was actually a person who answered, I asked her if they used an autodialer. She said yes. I suggested that it was poorly adjusted, because it's putting out many more calls than they can handle. (Of course, there's NO reason for them to call me at 6:30 Saturday morning like they did last weekend.)

I'd seen this number in the evenings and never answered it. But this morning, they started coming around 6:45 a.m.!! First on my landline, then on my cell phone (which few people know). When I answer, no one replies. When I try to return the call, a recording says its out of order or disconnected. This has been going on repeatedly for the past 45 minutes.

We recieve this call at least twice a week between 6 and 6:30 pm. No answer when we pick up and Caller ID says AMER RED CROSS. When you call the ID number it has a message "This number is no longer in service". My phone company told me to use *57 to trace the call.

Got called a twice. Caller id says "Unknown".
First time, I didnt hear anything. Last time, a voice asked, "Mr. [My family's last name]?" I asked, "uhh, who are you looking for?" Then the line went silent, then dead afterward.
