There is a way to get some of these annoying callers to stop and that is to, when you have call display, you see the number they are calling from so when you answer the call, immediately start pressing the # key on your phones number pad and do it until you hear a beeping noise coming from their end of the call. Another option is to press the * symbol repeatedly.
I have done this now several times with some annoying a***ole callers and it seems to have put a stop to the illegitimate callers! I actually learnt this trick from a friend of mine who worked in Telemarketing for years and had quit that job about 10 years back and now, ironically works for a company that works to put a stop to such companies that make these harassing calls!

Hope this works for you people, it has for me!

the 13054329775 number i reported, can be called back "hi, vacations by newport how can i help you" then they hang up... so that just shows you it's a big scam thing to try and screw us over for credit cards.

When they called me, I answered, it was a different phone number offering me a trip to florida for 4 people by "www.vacationsbynewport.com" The guy that was tallking to me called himself Steve Steele. The first time they called the number was "1-305-432-9775" telling me this is a one call per household winning trip and that i'd have to decide by the end of the phone call whether or not i wanted to go. After half an hour of me saying "no im not interested" they kept trying to "sweeten the deal" so i eventually just hung up. They called me literally 1 minute later from this number "1-613-702-5828". I ignored it. So much for "one call per household" and now. Twice today i got a call from the "416-239-8285" that everyone seems to be getting called from. But when i pick up no one answers.

Yeah they called me and offered me a trip to florida for 4 people. kept me on the phone for half an hour explaining what i had won. but i need to give them my credit card and it's $1000 trip for 4 plus my airmiles points. they said i needed to decide if i wanted the trip by the end of the phone call bc they are only calling once per household. I hung up, they called me right when i hung up. then twice today so far!

never, ever, ever say the word "yes" when you talk or answer the phone with a scammer. They take the recording and edit it so they have you saying "yes" when they ask you if you want to participate in whatever scam they are trying to ply.

Got a call from this number with a voice recording saying I "won $2500" in Airmiles ... I hung up ... definitely a scam

Got 3 calls yesterday. When I pressed 1 on the first call, they hung up. Could be they were trolling for numbers out of service. This is what happened when I called back... this line is out of service.

The second time, I pressed 1 and spoke to a young lady. I told her that Air Miles transactions are confidential, so how did they get this information? She hung up.

On the third call, having pressed 1 again, I spoke to Amber. She described the wonderful trip to Florida I could be taking. 3 nights in Orlando followed by another 3 nights in Fort Lauderdale. I could bring 1, 2 or 3 guests along. And I would have up to 6 months to finalize my arrangements.

Then she asked for the expiry date on my credit card. I gave her that information. Then she asked for the credit card number. I said I could not give that over the phone, especially since we were on Skype. She said I would lose the $2,500 discount from the Air Miles. I did not have the heart to tell her I did not have such a card. So we ended our conversation, after wasting about 10 minutes of her time.

Yup, it's a robo call.

I got the call from the autodialer claiming air miles too. I'm calling air miles to let them know. Maybe they can do something considering it's their name being dragged through the mud by these scammers.

I am getting calls from this number a few times a day and it is really annoying!  I called COGECO and they offered to sell me a package I could purchase to block them.  That apparently is the only solution. It's frustrating.

They called home, and were not talking. figured it was a scam.

This number 416-2398285 called and had been calling a lot of times but doesn't leave any message. They always disturb us due to frequently calls.

Also got a call saying I won a trip to Florida. Asked what our area was and said they had a spot for our area but it was only available till the end of the phone call. My mom lolled and asked if they really just said that, girl says yes and then immediately disconnects. Trolololol

I received a call from 416-239-8285 and when I said Hello no one said anything but after I said it a few times they hung up.

I see from my call display record they had tried on Oct 3 also.
Nobody on the line, I just answered and said "hello" and there was a couple of mechanical clicks and it hung up!

I think you might be right about the Collection Agency using it as a means of seeing if people who aren't taiking their calls will answer another number. I know they also use "Private Number" & "Unknown Caller/Number"

Got the call again. Ignored it again.
