Selective call reject is a joke. Sometimes it will add numbers, quite a few times it will say in effect 'sorry, that's a private number'. It will only list 12 #s, but you can't review the #s to decide which one to remove, the only option is to delete them all and start over again.

Star Phoenix telemarketer using a DIALER!
frustrated 2013-08-17 18:37:03 Unknown
I think that if they are going to pay a fee for getting these scum bags losers it should be to the extremes. I mean do some research find out who is responsible go in with a team of highly trained ( or just people really pissed off with them) thugs and kick the crap out of them. when they want to use the phone they will have to use voice dial because there fingers and toes won't work for pushing buttons

Mark,
I like Sasktel but they really need to be creative and do something about this. We do not have time to chase up and down corporate ladders and get our numbers off these lists. As you might suspect and we all know, no one ever gets off these lists and calling them only confirms that they have a live fish.
The call block function needs to be made an included, integral part of the basic service. Doubly so for my elderly parents.

Rings and rings. This is getting ridiculous. phoned at 12:40 pm and again 6:12 pm
not Michael 2013-05-26 02:25:12 Unknown
If they are calling your cell phone you can put them in your contacts list and assign them the ring tone "no ring" or "silence". That won't stop the calls but it will make them easier to ignore.

The inconsiderate cretins (yes, I know they are only doing their job) have called again, one of several calls this month. I asked my service provider whether something could be done to block the calls from this number, as well as those from other unsolicited numbers and was told no. I suppose one could pay to have calls blocked; however, why should those who are being annoyed have to pay anything so as to stop the annoyance? I understand that 416-646-8792 is a solicitation on behalf of the Saskatoon Star Phoenix. I discontinued my subscription with the SP 2 years ago and am not interested in re-subscribing. What next??
SASK LADY 2013-05-25 01:04:35 Unknown
Make these idiots stop calling me. Why are they allowed to call in the evenings, middle of the night and early in the mornings ??? I am on the registry list !! Obviously there is something wrong with our telephone systems that they can't stop these calls, people have been reporting this number for a long time.
Bosco 2013-05-13 22:56:04 Unknown
416-646-8792 called again today, after not having done so for a few weeks. If this marketer is in fact calling on behalf of the Star Phoenix, a newspaper to which I stopped subscribing 18 months ago, then perhaps a call to the SP might encourage someone within that organization to tell the marketer to STOP calling! Then again, likely not. So, what to do about these annoying, bothersome calls??
Bosco 2013-04-29 17:18:34 Unknown
Whoever used this number 3 years ago seems to be at it still. And having a cell phone, as I do, is not a means of preventing the calls.
TickedOffBigTime 2012-12-08 15:50:30 Unknown
Using a cellphone as a means of preventing call-centre calls apparently doesn't work. Whoever originates calls from this number, whether at the behest of the Star-Phoenix or someone else, is not only annoying but also simple-minded. After numerous attempts to have me answer the phone whoever it is should realize that I don't answer non-ID calls. The Star-Phoenix should realize that ticking people off is not good business practice.

Some telephone marketing company making calls on behalf of the saskatoon star Phoenix is the message I got when I called it back.

Will not answer don't know who its ...........
R 2011-10-04 23:16:38 Unknown
Called this number back and got an automated message advising that it is a company working on behalf of the Saskatoon Star Phoenix.
chris 2011-10-04 21:57:12 Telemarketer
It is probably the Star Phoenix looking for subscriptions. It's very common for companies to farm out their telemarketing stuff; I don't doubt the Star Phoenix is probably using a company in Ontario to do their telemarketing for them. Still highly annoying.

I got a call from this number as well, don't know who it is? Looked up that it is a Toronto area code.

Keep getting these annoying calls from 416-646-8792. I don't answer the phone, but the idiot calling lets the phone ring 6 or 7 rings. What pees me off most is that I'm registered on the "Do Not Call List". I'd like to stuff the phone up their you know where!!!
Joseph 2011-06-06 20:48:54 Unknown
Received a call at 5:20 pm. on August 24, 2009. I answered the phone. It was silent and then the line went dead. Call ID said this belongs to American Express. They ARE VERY RUDE.

Called @ 4:12pm CST here in Saskatoon, SK. Did not leave a message. Been reading a few comments and some people are saying it is the Star Phoenix paper? I know Saskatoon's paper is also called the StarPhoenix except I wouldn't think the call should come from a 416 area code. SK's area code should be 306. Afraid to call it back as it's a long distance number and I'm far too cheap to pay long distance. This is the first time they have called me -- we will see if they continue pestering.

I get this call on occasion myself. It shows on my display as "1-416-646-8792 Allstream" . This number, according to my searches, is registered to Allstream. They are (apparently) a telecommunication provider here in Canada. If you are on the Do Not Call registry in Canada, they should not be calling you.
I would check your number(s) registry status, as I found that the Do Not Call registry LOST my registration, and I started getting more "crap" calls. Writing to the CRTC does not help, as they just tell you your number is not currently on the list (thank God for Phone-Tray).
It has become VERY apparent to me, that the Do Not Call Registry in Canada is a joke (no surprise, since it is "administered" by Canada's largest phone service provider). There are tons of people registered, thousands of complaints, and 2 "AMPs" (fines) collected (one from the 'administrator' of the Do Not Call Registry).

This # just called me, I called it back and found out that it is the Saskatoon Star Pheonix. I left a message for them to remove me from thier call list. Seriously they HAVE TO STOP harrasing people this is RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lyn 2011-03-15 22:27:41 Unknown
Just got this call around 4 pm. I live in Saskatoon and I highly doubt that this is actually the Saskatoon StarPhoenix newspaper calling. Especially considering the area code is 416, an Ontario area code. I think someone mentioned earlier that local newspapers are exempt from the Do Not Call list and I think that's right. That's probably why they say they are from the StarPhoenix; it's a way to get through a "loophole" perhaps? Perhaps someone should be notifying the StarPhoenix so that they are aware that someone is using their name in a telemarketing situation. But, what do these people want? Why let the phone go dead after we answer? What's in it for them?

See my comment above (re: Phone Tray)

If I remember, newspapers are exempt from the DNC list
c12347 2011-02-11 00:17:58 Unknown
Obviously, you have a home computer. A cheaper solution would be hooking your phone to a modem, and downloading a program like "Phone Tray", which can block individual numbers (you can even find and add the "disconnected number" tone and recording to play back to them). This is a FREE fix if you already have a modem!

I called the number back and got a voice message apologizing that a rep wasnt on the line when I called, it was for the Star Phoenix newspaper asking for a subscription, saying it would call back again! Ack!!!
No way to remove yourself from their calling list, may they burn in hell!
