Pretty much the same as comments made previously. Calls made at odd times i.e. Sunday a.m.

This number has tried calling twice in the last hour and have had calls from the same number before. Because I have caller ID and I didn't recognize the number I did not answer it. There was no name with the number on the call display. I have been unsuccessful in finding anything through reverse look-up with canada411, has anyone else received calls from this number?

Professional Fundraising canvassers. They call on behalf of organizations who give them the membership list to canvass.

Unfortunately this is annoying but legal, as organizations you belong to are exempt from the no-call list. You'll have to tell those organizations you have a relationship with directly not to call you or just not give them your telephone number.

Called again today - Saturday Oct. 2, 2010. Am in Toronto. As I had already blocked this number, based on previous posts on this site - it did not ring through. Call display shows no information. What I find interesting, having read thr posts on this this site, is that people have been receiving calls from this number for more than two years, and it's still a functioning anonymous caller. So much for the Canadian laws being effecitve, eh?

Called today Sept. 21, 2010 at 12:45 p.m. Nothing on call display but the number. No msg. left. After
reading these posts will block the number on my phone.

I called this number back and the VM said "Canadian Shooting Sports" so if any of you are firearm owners this might have to do with the LGR.

also sunday afternoon. i live in BC and know people in 416, but they would leave messages if they needed to talk to me.

I received a call from this number on 31 Oct 2008 at 4:21 pm.  After a long silent lag, a male voice came online (I would guess mid-40s) and asked for a female by name (I forget the name).  I said no one by that name here, and he apologized; I just hung up.  At first I was sorry for my abrupt hangup on the guy, but in reading these messages I feel considerably better.  Thanks! ;-)

This number calls mine regularly.  I work at home and usually let the machine pick up if I'm working toward a client deadline.  Calls from (416)844-2991 never leave a message.  Who is calling?  Does anybody know?

A regular pest.No message left in voicemail.When I call,a female comes on and says"Thank you for calling the information line."There is no one available to take your call."Please leave you name and number after the tone,and someone will return your call."They never do

The number is TVO (or perhaps a company that calls on behalf of TVO at times?)
They called me from this number reminding me of my pledge -  after having called me and not saying anything several times in one day!

Hi everybody! well, i know this number too - and so many others... there would be an easy way to deal with this, really! mandate that all phone-carriers install a *666 (or whatever) service. if you get called by a nuisance-caller, hang-up and dial *666. have the carriers count the nuisance complaints, if somebody who makes more than 100 calls a day (presumably a business) gets 10% or more of called people who dial *666 after receiving that call, have that caller disconnected automatically and premanently the same day! just mandate it and the phone companies will be perfectly capable to install it :-) works like "call screen add last number" or "call trace". ah, and don't forget to make the politicians mandate the service TO BE FREE OF CHARGE :-)

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT THIS IS SICKENING.....THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN TO GIVE UP.....WHEN THE PHONE RINGS, I ANSWER, SOMETIMES IT MIGHT TAKE A FEW SECONDS FOR THEM TO ANSWER BACK....PLEASE FIND SOMETHING ELSE BETTER TO DO WITH YOUR TIME....AT LEAST, IF IT'S IMPORTANT.....THERE IS SUCH A THING AS LEAVING A MESSAGE.....

If there's any power to be had in numbers of complaints - I have also received countless calls from this number.

When you read the many and  diverse complaints about this number, surely there must be a way our government  can step in,  trace the number to its  origin and put a restraint on whomsoever is using it.

this number keeps calling me constently and i do not know who it is so i do not answer. i answered the first time and they asked for someone with a J, i figured wrong number so i asked them not to call back. they didnt for two weeks and know they keep calling and its annoying.. and when i call back it says you have reached an information line and so on what can we do about it

this # shows on my phone every day and today i answered it and no one talks , especially when they call on a saturday at 8:00am , im getting mad

Someone at this number calls repeatedly, usually several times a day. I never answer as there is no name attached, just the number. No messages are left, so I assume it is a telemarketer. They have called 5 times today alone.

this number has been calling constantly, sometimes more than once a day. Finally answered it (second time today) and they said it was for childhood cancer. But I have read online that other charities have called other people from this number too- arthritis, Feed the Children (Africa)...

This number is showing up on my phone repeatidly....its getting annoying. I hope they give up on it soon.

It seems to me that this is a professional fundraising agency
working with outdated lists.
When I received a call sometimes ago, asking for Mr. or Mrs. Harris,
I told them there is nobody with that name here. I also suggested them
to update their lists.

However try asking Rogers to do something and they "apparently" won't do anything.It's not an issue for their customers to "prank call" according to a customer service manager named Mathew.

This is in reference to my own experience w/ this number where I get dead air if I pickup,or information line if I call them.

It's really too bad in Canada we have such WEAK unsolicited marketing laws,penalities.

I have received a number of calls from this number.  Finally I decided to answer and as long as I wait, there is nobody on the other end.  I have called back 4 times and left messages each time to take me of their list.  They have called on Sundays as well - is that not illegal?

i got my call at 10:24 am sunday ,last sunday...etc. I call back and get a recording saying it is a call centre , sorry we've missed your call

Received a call from this number today.  I'm sure they have called before.  I called the number back and received a recording saying they had missed me and will call back.  I left a message saying that I was assuming it's some sort of telemarketing/charities call since they had no name on call display and to please put my number on their no contact list. That's all I can do for now.
