This # called Friday night 8:30pm saying they were Industry Canada conducting a survey.   I declined.

We have received over 10 calls from 416 861 0870 in the last two hours,  sending a fax to our land line. The call came through first displayed as that number, then immediately after that, every seven minutes, as private caller. It is an unscrupulous caller. Your solution is to call Bell Canada and request that they block the number for you.

Got a call today and it was a guy "Stephen Watson" (strong Asian accent) who said he was from "Service Centre of Windows" (I think he made up the name) (in USA) and that the number he was calling from was 219-232-4400 (when in fact it is a Toronto number on my call display).  Said something about unsecured websites (??).  Very suspicious.  He did have my name and addressed me with it.

This number apparently feeds through a variety of different counterparties, likely channelling out of town and out of country companies using a calling card, or other routed service.

Obviously some of those calling from this number may be questionable, scammers/debt-collectors/telemarketers...but I've recently received a valid call from a known U.S. based customer who purchased something from our business during the call from this number.

So...be on guard but don't be completely surprised if it's a legit call. Perhaps just let it go to voice message and followup later.

Just got a call from this number. I didn't answer but used *69 to learn the number. I called but number not in service. How is this possible? I called Bell. The operator's explanation was that the calling entity probably has an "outgoing-only" line.

Just got a call from same number..
Someone claiming to be from "PC Online Care" and that my Windows PC was infected with virus and malware.
I hung up.
This number must be used as a front for scammers to hide their real calling number.
They obviously are looing for credit card numbers or other personal info to steal identity, get access to credit cards bank info etc..
The only info the caller had on me that I could tell was the province I lived in and the name the house land line is listed under in the phone book. (which isn't even my full name)
My advice is to just hang up and block this number if you have that option.

I RECEIVED THE CALL FROM 416-861-0870 THE GUY NAME WAS ERIC, ASKED ME IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN HOME BASED BUSINESS. I WAS BUSY AT THE JOB. I ASKED HIM TO LEAVE YOUR NO. HE WILL CALL ME AGAIN....

The number appeared on my call display, did not leave a message, so I called the number back , the recording said number is no longer in service.

They just called, after another 514-985-0000 call (another telemarketing number). Looks like these a**holes are testing their scripts for numbers. This was a fax. Previous had no sound.

In retrospect, I doubt there was anything fishy going on. I didn't answer the original call, so the telemarketer wouldn't have a call record, and therefore no one was spoofing the number.

Spoke to a cop at the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre. They're more interested in actual fraud (e.g., when someone loses $) than in spoofing. Apparently, it's easy to mask one's phone number with a fake number that shows up on caller ID or via *69.

And yet, it's fishy that the calling number (416-861-0870) shows up on the Internet connected to various companies, one of them a "communications and media broadcasting" company that does telemarketing (as the gentleman at Infolink admitted).

Found this number on my caller id when I got home tonight.  From the sounds of it, I didn't miss anything interesting.

I was called by this number and they claimed to be offering me new discount services from Bell Canada.

When I asked them why it did not say "Bell Canada" on the caller I.D. he said he was offering services on behalf of Bell Canada.  I asked them if they could read me my Bell Canada account number than I would proceed with the call.  They said they had no access to my Bell Canada account and I hung up on them after requesting to be removed from their list.

Please call the number below (as previously provided by "Telemarkethater"), press option 4 to reach the call centre supervisor, and give them your phone #. Call every time they call you; I called this morning to have my number removed and received another call this afternoon. If enough people complain, maybe they will get the hint. Grrrrrr!!!

This number shows up on caller ID but when call back, it says this number is not in Service.

Just received a call from this number. I told them I had received previous calls and had requested to be removed from the call list and I was on a no call list. He rudely interrupted me and said no.  It was a charity and it was not possible to be on the no call list. I hung up. , I recognized the name when he first said law enforcement and called me by my first name. Do NOT listen to these calls .  I suspect that this number has nothing to do with law enforcement and is bogus!!!  REPEAT do NOT have anything to do with these calls. The very manner in which the fellow handled the call and his rudeness leads me to suspect the caller.

My parents got a call from this number, mom answered the phone and person on line identified as being from ScotiaBank named Tom something and asked for my dad by name.  Just after my dad said "Hello!", the line hung up.  He says there was someone at the other end before the line went dead.

I got 6 private number calls, then 6 416-861-0870 calls now back to prvate number calls again :(

Just got a call from 416-861-0870. Definitely something fraudulent going on here. The individual on the line said I had won a gift package and gave me explicit instructions on how to pick it up (no business as address given). Then he started fishing for info (family income etc.). When I asked for the company name and website, he hung up immediately. How do we get this investigated?

Reference to Joe's spot on remark about 416-861-0870 dated 16 Sept 2008. I did call VoiceLogic's central number 416-203-9371. The female that responded confirmed they use several numbers to call and one of them was the subject number. She claims my number will be removed from their database within 7 days.

Same here, the voice response on the number when you call it is from the user of the line, it is not a Bell Canada message, so that is a bit dishonest as well.
