You no doubt know that placing your name on the "Do Not Call List", or complaining to the CRTC, or the Police, or Phone busters is useless. As a matter of fact, the Telemarketers may well have gotten your number by buying a list from the "Do Not Call List" branch of the CRTC.
The authorities claim their hands are tied, because the harassing calls originate outside the country. Seems the authorities are more like enablers than enforcers, especially in view of the fact that CBC's Marketplace had no problem in tracing the scam to a Pakistan Call Centre!

Many victims offer advice on how to "get even" by blowing loud whistles or air horns into the phone, or wasting the callers time. This usually backfires, because the harasser only increases the frequency of the calls, knowing that short of changing your phone number (at YOUR expense) you are helpless, since authorities do nothing.
What has been suggested, and tried, is actually making an appointment, and then telling the scum that arrive to leave, or having the Police waiting for the fraudsters, which was done in Ottawa, and only resulted in dismissal from charges. Makes one wonder whose side are the Police are on. You might even find yourself on the receiving end of a lawsuit for wasting the Duct Cleaner's time! Isn't it an eye opener when the law will protect these scum, but not the victims.

Rather than try ineffective tactics against the Pakistani Call Center scum, which is hopeless, and only invites increased harrassment, or booking appointments and then cancelling or refusing entry, which risks revenge since they know your address, try the Following.
On a Website such as Kijiji, or Craig's List, or just Google for Duct Cleaning, or Duct Cleaners. Look for cheap prices, around $100 or less, these are probably scammers. (Legitimate Duct Cleaning costs in the neighbourhood of $300). Note down the phone numbers of the low price baiters.

Now, go to a Website called http://www.prankcall.ca/

There, you can make unlimited Prank calls. Simply enter the phone number of the "Duct Cleaner" (Haha!), and then, in the message section, something along the lines of "Hi this is Caroline from Credit Card Services. You can save big time on interest rates on your Visa or Master Card. Press 1 now to speak to a representative..." If you've been harasses by telemarketers, you probably know "Credit Card Services" too!
Since it is the Duct Cleaning scammers who are hiring the harrassers in Pakistan, you will be returning the favour to the source. And, it will be untraceable to you, so, rather then YOU inviting increased harrassment on yourself, you will be giving the scum a taste of their own medicine. And having fun while you are doing it. Just DON'T put any threats in the message (unless it's a threat to contact authorities, which, as we know, is a waste of time anymway. Remeber whose side they are on!) But call OFTEN!
Another avenue is to use Prank Dial, but it has limited free calls, and doesn't allow you to put in your own messages.

They called me on Aug 6, 2011, offered promotion: flat rate $60 regardless of vents number...

Same old relentless duct cleaning company that calls themselves Metro Home Services.  But when you call Metro Home Services to complain the poor man says it's not his company and that people are calling him and yelling at him... I actually feel sorry for the guy because the air duct company is using his company name.
They typically call 4 to 5 times a week; I constantly ask them to remove my name from their mailing list.

Today I booked an appointment and will have my camera ready when they show up to take their picture and picture of the license plate to formally lodge a complaint with the police.

I have basically been harassed into making this appointment to get them off of my back and I am going to make sure the police know about it.

Consider turning the tables on these ruthless people... make an appointment and get your camera ready!

If some one calls you from this number ..... Call the Don't not call " people and report them @1-866-580-3625. Stop these idots in there foot steps .The are con artist and will take your money . Call and have your name added to the National do not call list to help stop these people from calling trying to con any one into this ....
