this is rediculous, why are they calling. Its not like they even say anything on the other line

if it is the bank of montreal. it's probably somekind of a scam. cos i don't have and account with them and they called me.. What's up with that!!

they called me too and I'm the Ottawa area.  they call every night for the past few days between 5 and 9 pm.  so what i do now, i pick up the phone and put them on hold until they go away. obviously, the number shows, but not the caller's name, unlike Suebert.

Finally found out who 416-922-8653 is!  Is the Bank of Montreal--something about wanting me to upgrade my credit card. I answered the phone when they called this time, and got a real life person. Hopefully now tey will stop calling! (especially on a Saturday!)

My mother has been getting calls to her cellphone from 1 866 616 6010. The number is that of Teleperformance. I have gotten the odd one as well, and we are both Rogers customers. Funny, eh!

I recently found their Toronto number, which is the one many of you are being harrassed from. This Teleperformance seems, from the Web to be a huge multinational. I don't understand how these losers are getting away with this nonsense.

The phone calls are the same as others have reported, dead air, strange clicks and in one case a woman's voice with some foreign accent talking gibberish.

It is about time for this crap to stop. I have left the link to PhoneBusters (RCMP. Hopefully they will look into this. I recommend people getting in touch with them.

(416) 922-8653 is NOT the originating number calling you.  The Caller Identification (CID) is being spoofed - a common trick by less than scrupulous telemarketing firms and con artists alike.

The ''do not call list'' doesn't work

Would someone let us know if the web form for "do not call list" actually works?

It's so frustrating, I get this call everyday.  It's an Ontario number and I'm all the way out in BC.

I would be interested, my voicemail is full because of these people calling and leaving no messages, only static. This must be stopped.

Well folks I'm embarrassed to admit it but I worked for this company. I'm sorry to tell you but the form doesn't work on the website, and the service is very bad because we don't hear you coming in for between 5-10 mins. I worked there briefly and then got rogers home phone. Now i get the same thing.

P.S. this company is 3rd party off Rogers and they do sell #'s

I'm in Montreal. Today I got the first call from 416-922-8653. I did not recognize the number so I did not answer. Normally, I get many calls per week with no caller ID and when I pick up, no one is there. Today it was the first time I see a Caller ID. Not sure if the previous calls were from the same source. By the way, I'm with Primus.

I have the same problem with bell.  Some of these companies only exist to see when people are home so that they can sell the information to other marketing firms they are more likely to get "a hit".  Just don't answer and go to their web site listed earlier to remove you number from the list.

For anyone who is a Rogers Home Phone customer, and is receiving countless telemarketing calls, check out Primus Canada. I am NOT affiliated with them, just someone who will most likely be switching. They allow their customers to go to a website, and submit any phone number they want blocked from calling them. And it works. Plus it's much, much less expensive than Rogers.

That's a load of bullsh%t. I was with a small telephone provider from BC for 2 years...always had the same number, always unlisted. I NEVER, EVER got a call from telemarketers. Not even one, in 2 years. THE VERY DAY my Rogers home phone was connected, I got my first telemarketing call. And it hasn't stopped since. My number is still unlisted, still the same number as before.  I have emailed Rogers on this several times, accusing them of selling my number, and they replied with a bunch of bullsh*t responses, that are either not true ("we're sorry, it turns out your number was not unlisted" which is crap, because I have 3 phone books and none has my number in it) or are clearly an attempt to shut me up...like sending me a link to a page that takes my number off of Rogers own calling list. I'm not done with them yet, but if anyone tells you Rogers doesn't sell your phone number, it's crap.

To anyone asking how people get your number when it's unlisted...Rogers Home phone sells the phone numbers of their customers to telemarketers. That's why you get so many calls.

I just recieved 2 calls from this # and i just got my landline hooked up only couple weeks back, strange. Pretty much same as everybody else's experience.

My family just got 2 calls from 416 922 8653 today.I looked up in reverse lookup and it said something about Donaldson C,in Toronto.It was a lady's voice with an accent like East Indian.It's confusing,for the first call,which I was unavailable,left no voicemail.Second one,she said something i didn't understand,hanged up-_-#.

Yes I too am recieving calls DAILY from this number...i called back and it said "mailbox full" - no one ever talks...it's an empty line when i pick up - and then static. no idea what this is all about, but it's very annoying.

Just to let you know... Roger's doesn't sell your number to anyone. It is given to the compmay whp deals with all there customer service. And the people who call you are local to your area not over seas.

Rogers MUST be behind this!  
I used to be with Bell, and I never got 416-922-8653 calling my house.  
Last month I switched to Rogers, and suddenly 416-922-8653 is calling all the time!  
The ONLY way they could have gotten my # is through Rogers.  
This really pisses me off, because Rogers is a huge corporation that is obviously making money by selling lists of our phone #s to telemarketers!  If I had know this before hand, I would NEVER have switched.

Do anyone knows how to send an virus e-mail to these jerks of Teleperformance Canada. They?ll understand what it means to annoy people !!!

Well I'm from Montreal and happy to see we're not the only getting calls from these JERKS. I'm impressed to see this 800Notes section...it's very helpful. Seems to be a scam to have people call them back, as voicemail always full. Sometimes they only need our return call to use phone number that has called back. I will report this to Bell Canada (yeah right, good luck with that one right?) We'll see and let you know...

These spazzbots keep calling me every freakin day!!  It's so aggravating.  I haven't answered once (the number looked like spam, and after finding this web page, it obviously is!), yet they keep calling me again and again.

Thanks to whomever posted the link about 'do not call'.  This is great info, and my fingers are crossed in hopes that it works!
