Received a call (recorded message)from 417-000-3842 about lowering my rate on one of my credit cards. I was under the impression that it was a call from one of the companies I currently use so I pushed "9" for more information. A man answered and informed me it was for any Visa or Mastercard with a balance of $3000 or more. I told him I don't qualify for that and I'd like my name removed from their calling list. He then hung up on me. Calling the number back showed it to be a disconnected number.

I just received the same phone call, pressed "9" to speak with someone and -- when I demanded to know her first and last name (after telling her I was on the No Call register and the phone call was illegally made) -- received the same treatment: a hang-up. Excellent.

Pre-recorded message from Card Services about lowering my credit card rate.  I pressed "9" and screamed at the top of my lungs, hoping to break the eardrum of the representative.

No Call Registry is not working.  We must do something to make those nasty telemarketters shut up.

According to a letter I received from the Federal Communications Commission, "... the facts presented in this case do not indicate a violation of the Communications Act of 1934 ... or the FCC's rules ..."

These predators called 6/3/09 while I was on line.  Callwave identified caller as "417-000-3842."

Presumably same party called again 6/4/09 when I was not on line.  (I do not have caller ID when off line.)  Recording said to press 6 to speak with someone.  I did, because I was annoyed.  Party acted as if I called them!  Hung up when I asked, "Who is this, please?"

I'm reporting this to State AG, FCC, and FTC, even if it gets mw nowhere.

My 87 year-old grandmother received a call from 417-000-3842.  I had signed her phone number up for the "National Do-Not-Call" Registry, so I pressed "9," and got a male operator who asked if I was interested in lowering my interest rate today.  I asked him for the name of the company he was calling for, so I could report them for calling a number on the Do-Not-Call list, and he rudely hung up on me.  I tried calling the number back, but got a busy signal (presumably because they use an auto-dialer, which I'm pretty sure is illegal).

I just received a phone call from an automated caller (the pitch was about lowering the interest on my credit cards) that ended by saying I should press "9" to speak with a live operator. So I did, and the live operator asked if I was responding to a call about lowering my interest rate. I replied that, actually, I was calling about the fact that making a call to me was illegal since I am on the No Call list, and I needed her first and last name. She then asked how it could be illegal to lower my interest rates. I asked her to slowly give me the spelling of her first and last name, because I needed that to file a complaint against her, and she hung up on me. Ah, well.

Received call from 417-000-3842.  No caller ID information except I have recently been getting calls from NCO Fincl Svcs with a different number.  I wondered if this is a variation without caller ID from NCO as well.  If you read about NCO, you will find they are a crooked collection company with a very bad reputation.

The number 417-000-3842 could be a collection agency. For over 9 years I've been getting calls from off and on for a lady that had my number before me. They may have pretended to be offering a service (like I explained above) as a new tactic to catch the woman since she's obviously been dodging them for many years. I only think this because he hung up on me so fast. And while that's rude, I sorta took it like he didn't want to waste time with someone he wasn't looking for.

Just an opinion about the number so I hope it helps.
