I already reported harassing caller 417-323-3066 Windstream Communications landline from Ash Grove, MO. that hungup & didn't leave a voicemail twice on Mon. 6/16/14 at 3:52pm who called again Mon. 6/16/14 at 8:02pm to DONOTCALL.GOV - I have an unlisted phone number & now still harassed with 37 unwanted automated solicitor calls since April 1, 2014. This is a waste of time & money since I never answer unwanted calls & I pay to have my unlisted phone number "omitted listing" to prevent unwanted solicitors who must be stopped. (*67) to block caller on my phone security screen to prevent phone number from calling back.

Several of these call centers have invaded my town.  These scum make use of the survey and the charity loophole in the Do Not Call list.  They have been a headache for law enforcement, emergency services, neighboring businesses and residential areas.

What police officers have told me:
-These call centers are great ponds to fish for warrant arrests
-When the gang bangers, thugs etc get in trouble with the law around town, the police find out that most of these people work at these call centers
-The town, police, sheriff, unmarked cars are always visiting these call centers, why?  Warrant arrests, disturbances, drugs, break-ins, drunk driving, vandalism etc
-These call centers SUPPORT crime, drug activity, gangs etc
-Employees work just long enough to get enough money to buy drugs etc and then quit, one year 1200 people had cycled through one of these call centers
-Police are frustrated that city council allow these places to operate for years

What many call center ex-employees have told me:
-A manager broke into his employee?s car to steal his stereo to put in his car
-Managers distributing drugs, tagging nearby businesses, breaking into cars of employees of nearby businesses, theft, vandalism, stealing stuff off of buildings such as pulling sprinklers out of the ground and electrical outlet covers
-Managers preying and bullying their employees
-Hard liquor, drugs and weed commonly consumed on the job
-Bullied to work long hours, 7 days a week.  Employees who tried to push back are let go

What neighboring business owners have told me:
-Stuff stolen off their buildings
-Their buildings have been tagged with gang symbols
-Needles, condoms, a lot of booze bottles, trash, and uneaten food tossed out on their property
-Cars racing through their parking lots up to 60 mph by drunk or high call center workers
-One business owner had his car broken into just to steal his dry cleaning and sun glasses
-The whole area vibrating from the thumping car stereos even late at night
-Drunks driving on their landscaping and lawns
-Their employee?s cars keyed, broken into etc.

What I have seen directly related to one of these centers:
-Cars broken into or vandalized.
-Watched one night a couple call centers workers drive with their headlights off to go vandalize a nearby business
-Very dangerous drunk driving for years; driving up on the lawn almost hitting a building, driving backwards, driving 60 mph through parking lots
-My workmate blocked off while in his car while he was cussed out by a call center worker
-Drunks stopping to empty out their car of all the beer bottles breaking them on the street
-Years of trash, booze bottles, food littered on the businesses parking lots and property
-Drunks blowing stop signs at intersections
-I?ve almost been run down while on foot, while on my bike and in my car numerous times by whacked out drivers
-Homeless living out of their cars.
-Call centers workers sneaking off to nearby business?s parking lots to do drugs, sell drugs, roll blunts, down a bottle of hard liquor etc even in the daylight
-Local police, sheriff, unmarked cars, paramedics, ambulances routinely called out to these call centers.
-One of these nearby call centers had a daily visit by paramedics and ambulances ? sometimes twice a day!
-In my attempts to complain, I have been threatened.  My attempts to start up a neighborhood watch I ended up being threatened with an attempt to get me fired from my job.  After 5 years of complaining to the city they finally hit the call center with code enforcement, the result - the city officially found nothing and I was threatened with a law suit.  Meanwhile the criminal activity continues?.

It?s been years since these places have moved into town.  The above described events are not in some inner city setting, but rather in an upscale business area that have taken its toll on the nearby legitimate businesses and a nearby church.  The city and the police hands are tied and can do little to shut these places down because of so many loopholes in the law regarding profiling, harassment etc.

I currently have a for sale sign on my front lawn to move out of town?.

White Pages show 417-323-3066 is listed to Windstream Nuvox, Ash Grove, MO.  A Windstream phone call responder--reached via a different number--claims Windstream is helpless, it's somebody else using that number for "TRAFFIC PUMPING" and as a result Windstream and numerous other communications companies are suffering. See https://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/traffic-pumping (or do search for FCC Traffic Pumping).  Maybe the public hasn't yet filed enough complaints filed with FCC to stir fed agencies to take steps to correct the practice? Why should others be allowed to profit at our expense via a scheme that should surely be illegal?  https://esupport.fcc.gov/ccmsforms/form1088!createComplaint.action   (Or do search for "file complaint with FCC".)

I called 417-323-3066 and reached CenturyLink. At first, the best they could do was suggest I block the number.  But since the call was somehow associated with CenturyLink, I asked how I could get the calls to stop. After some persistence, they put me on hold, then came back and said CenturyLink maintains an internal do-not-solicit call list, and asked if I wanted to be added. They assured me the calls will stop.

No message, hangs up once I answer. Caller ID reads "Communication S". Had a voice one time when they called, a male saying "Century Link" really quickly, but then he ended the call immediately.

I have been harassed by these people for weeks.  Usually there's no one there if I answer and no message left, but if I do answer (to tell them NOT TO CALL ME), they tell me it's a "courtesy call" from Century Link.  Century Link denies this, and says the call does not come from anyone affiliated with Century Link.  They suggest blocking the number.

These people have been blowing up my phone for several months, I learned recently they were affiliated with Century Link and that even though we are on the DNC list since they are my landline carrier they can continue to harass me, doesn't seem right to me. Anyone out there have an answer on how I can get this stopped.

Most companies do have an option to opt-out of receiving MARKETING calls and mail.  However, they can still contact you for account-related stuff like billing.

Just for your info, it is not illegal for a company you do business with. I contacted the DNC site and FINALLY received a reply from them telling me as long as I had a landline with Century Link it was not illegal for them to call me, even if I was on the Do Not Call list. I even answered one of the calls and the guy asked me if I wanted to sign up for faster internet service, I said no, and the next day the number showed up again.  What I do when I get a call from a number I do not recognize is just let it ring, most of the companies or scammers hang up after 4 rings and once this happens to them a few times they stop calling. It does involve me not using my answering machine, but I just check the Caller ID and then call back whoever called that I know. Since I have not been answering the calls at all they have slowed down to 1 or 2 per month. Good luck

When you call 417-323-3066   it rings into a Centurylink call center to someone that wants to sell you their services.
So I called the number, talked to Matt at Centurylink.   Even though my number is on the DNC list, Centurylink was breaking that law and calling anyway.   Matt said that he would put my number on the CenturyLink.....DO NOT CALL LIST and DO NOT MAIL JUNK TO MY HOUSE LIST.   Said it could take about 30 days to stop all of wasted efforts.

They mail stuff, it give Larry the postman some work and it gives the garbage truck guys some work to do.    What a waste from a Company that has so many REALLY BAD business plans,  They have my phone service now, but when they ignore the FCC law to call someone that is on the DNC list, it gets me to thinking that maybe I should not do business with a Company that ignores the law.  I have great TV service and price with Cox, maybe I should move my phone line over to Cox.   Right now, they are not ignoring the DNC list by calling me 2-3 times per day to see if they can get me to buy more of their services so they can have the big money to show their board of Directors that they are makeing the BIG bucks.

It is nice that in August of 2013 they made a law that telemarkers can not call cell phones.   So here is an idea, port the Centurylink home phone number to Verizon or Sprint or your favorite cell phone company and the telamarketers cant call you number any more.    You can get a nice unit from Verizon, the Home Phone, where you can plug in your house phone or cordless phone and your are all set.   Keep your phone number, have your service from Verizon, stop getting telamarketing  calls and even more good news, the Taxes, Fees and Surcharges each month are less than half of what they are for a phone line with Centurylink here in Nebraska.   If you buy a $25 home phone line you will pay from 30 to 35% Taxes, Fees and Surcharges each month.   It gets real close to $10.00 per month that you are paying outside of your cost for the phone line.   As you know, that is $120 per year.   When money is needed in families for so many other things, you have to stop the bleeding.

You cant fax on the Verizon, Home Phone service yet, but they say that is coming.  So you can move your home number to a cell phone company and have it on a cell phone that can be free from the cell phone company.  You can use the Home Phone unit so that you can have your cordless phones all over the house.  The telamarketers cant call you, you get faster Customer Service help when you call Verizon, and you pay less Taxes, Fees, and Surcharges each month.  It is almost a NO BRAINER.

So like the guys above I have gotten several calls from these people but no one ever speaks.  Today I found out the caller is Century Link Communications.  It's a telemarketing call to get you to switch your TV service to their new fiber-optic service.  I might have gone for it but the telemarketer told me the deal is only available if I sign up immediately.  You can't get it from their website.  No way to read the fine print.   Sounds too much like a scam.

I've gotten 2 calls from this outfit.  They never speak.  I reported them to the FCC complaint site; urge you do too.  Here's the
FCC web site:  http://www.fcc.gov/complaints   You can find that site yourself by Google Search if you are uncertain about its
legitimacy.  White pages reverse lookup shows the phone carrier is Windstream Communications Landline in Ash Grove, MO.  The more of us who complain, the more likely the FCC will take action.  Other options might be to sue in local court for each call, get judgements and then submit them in the business' jurisdiction for recording and collection.

It's a 3rd party calling "On behalf of Century Link" trying to sell more services. Doesn't matter what you say they'll continue to call, best bet is to make complaint directly to Century Link.

This number has been calling everyday for over a week now-started as once a day, now up to 2 & 3 times a day.  They always hang up on the 4th ring before the answering machine kicks in.  Don't understand what the point is if they don't want to talk to anyone.  What an annoyance!
