Left a "voicemail" with no one saying anything. Now blocked on my phone.
| Charsky 2014-01-28 23:19:15 Unknown |
I have a call blocking phone...it only hold 30 blocked calls. Not enough most of the time. But my question is Why should I have to buy something to BLOCK calls from people who aren't supposed to be calling me in the first place??? They are violating my time with my family and the DNC. There are laws in place to protect AMERICAN citizens and taxpayers...why don't we put them to good use instead of me spending my hard earned money on another gizmo or gadget.

Take a look at Chuck in SF post. Offering money to drop COPD meds and participate in a study. Can sure sound like a scam. However, I'm not writing this off as being legit or a scam. This is why people need to do their research with calls like this. Ask for state and or federal web sites, their toll free number, supervisor, and where you can find more information out about what is going on IF you want to take the time. I agree, there are legit organizations out there trying to collect health information for improving health programs and health education in local communities. If it's going to help me, my children, or friends, then I more than likely participate in a survey, but not some clinical trial.
As far as the Do Not Call List. This does apply to telemarketers and they are required to follow federal guidelines. When they don't, they are subject to penalty from the FCC. When it is a legit organization in relationship to surveys, they fall under a different category than telemarketers.

Really sad that you would take the time to give them bogus information. There are a lot of legit organizations out there that do this kind of work on a professional level. This is not telemarketing, it is research, and something like this is used to help improve health programs and health education across the country, not to mention right in your own community/area. It can also help states, and individual counties receive additional funding from the federal government if these types of health matters are predominate in your area. Why not help your state or county get additional funding they may deserve. Perhaps if you have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease like myself, you would have felt differently about answering a few questions.

Call came when I was on another call. But the caller id said Research Study. That's a new name I haven't seen yet. Since I didn't talk to them, I have no idea no what they wanted

It's not hard to find away around the DNC. It is only a "List" of numbers. Nothing mechanical or blocking about it. It doesn't stop a thing. Nobody is going to intercept any calls. It is Just a list that is purchased and used to update the do not call files of legitimate Telemarketing businesses. So anyone who thinks that once they are on the list they have immunity against any and all unwanted callers are in for a surprise. There is no immunity or physical protection. It is just a list.....

They also call from 417 800-2511. Same scam - different number.
This time they called themselves Research Study.
Buy a call-blocking phone. Uniden and Panasonic make wonderful call blocking phones and they're inexpensive. They also come with at least one wireless handset. Very handy!!!
These phones also block ?Out of Area? and ?Private? calls.
