why does this guy call, say  hi, then hang up?

Just got a call from this number, the second in about three months. Male voice said "hi" and hung up. Area code 417 is Springfield, MO.

Some call and say hi and hung up. What is going on? I never used my cellphone anywhere and I am not sure how they got my number.

Missed missouri call at 2:39 pm.  I live in Chicago?  WTF?  I hate white collar criminals including banking insitutions, insurance institutions telemarketers and email marketers who promise free sheet only to deliver more BS email hooks.  We need a Dexter who takes out the upper class scum bags of the world.

Got a call, was an automated person regarding my credit cards...and said they could lower it.  I hung up!

i got a call from this number too, but didn't pick up because i was in school.
i never gave out my phone number on the internet or anything either.

Same call... says "hi" and then hangs up.  Hard to know if live or not, but seems like fishing for "live" phone numbers.  No one has to sell or give out numbers. There are only 10,000 on any areacode/exchange combination.  They just sequentially dial them all ...done by a computer anyway.

I received a call from this number but didn't answer since i didn't recognize the number. I looked it up online and found out it was a MO number. i blocked my name and called back to see who it was but i got a message saying it was disconnected or no longer in service.

I didn't answer my phone but then afterwords i received a voice message saying "ugh this is the last courtesy call that i can make so ugh it is imperative that you give me a ring today you can reach me here at 4178625536. ugh again the name is rick morgan. you can reach me at 4178625536"

i really hate these calls.

I got the extact same call...

Started with "Hey guys."  His name was Rick Morgan and it was the last courtesy call he could make. Left a call back number of 1-866-626-9314.

same thing with the call and him saying hi and hanging up.

recieved a call from this number. I was unable to answer. I then recieved a txt immediately after saying "please call".

Live in New York Metro area and same number and the guy said hi and hung up.  Number fishing I think.

Had similar experience- Caller at 1:01pm CST, 9 Nov 2009 said hi (or hello, can't remember), then nothing.  Call lasted 12 seconds while I said hello a number of times.

Same experience - received a call on my cell, caller said hello, then nothing so I hung up.

Scam - Said they needed to talk to me about my Visa/Mastercard...only I don't have credit cards.  Anyone know a number where this can be reported?

The caller left text when I did not aswer and as I am on a pre paid cell phone it cost me a dollar for the call and another 20 for the text even tho I did not answer it. These need to be stopped.

This is the number that showed up when "Rick Morgan" called and left a message trying to lower my credit card rates.  He left this # to call  800-676-9314

I was driving and my cellphone rang. I couldn't answer it and when I was able to look, I didn't recognize the number. No message was left.

said "sorry its taken me so long to get back to you ive had a big project laying on my desk, but gettin back to you lettin you know i can lower your intrest rate to 1.75% i see you've only been making the minimum payments on your credit cards if youd like to give me a call back that would be great..and left some 800 number"

I do not own any credit cards...lol how do people get our numbers?!

I got this number on both my cell and home phones yesterday and I'm ticked.  My home is unlisted and I don't give my cell to anyone I do not know personally.  I've changed both of those numbers in the past couple of years because I was sick of getting the calls for my ex husbands financial instability.  The message was something like "Sorry for not getting back to you sooner we can lower your mortgage rate and I show your making only minimum payments on your credit cards"....yet I have not made any inquiries for refinancing and I do not have any other form of debt at all.

Got a call over the weekend from this number, Rick Morgan appologized for not getting back to me sooner, because he was working on this new program that just came accross his desk. he also said that he wants to help us guys by getting our credit score lowered, told me he couldn't make calls from this number, to call him back at a different number.

i called the 417-862-5536 it rang about 3 times, someone picked up and hung up.

same thing here got a call someone said hi and hung up. Who ever was calling, get a life!!

received a call from this number - it was automated - wanted to reduce my credit card interest rate to "as low as 1%" - said that they saw that i was only making minimum payments on my credit cards.  I have NO credit cards.
Obviously a fishing expedition.

answered phone call from this number and some guy said hi and then hung up? called the number back and it says it's been disconnected or not in service. must have been selling something, who knows. get these calls all the time even though i'm on the do not call registry, and have been for some time. this number on reverse lookup is from springfield, mo.

Rick Morgan told me he was sorry for not getting back to me sooner. He can lower my credit cards payments.  Well Rick - please don't call again.  And if I want to lower my credit card payments, maybe I should just pay less?
