I got a call from this number.  The message didn't state the company or business but the same threat about "banking message: concerning a return item from your bank.  If you do not return our call we will be forced to persue this matter to the fullest extent in your state."  Unfortunately, the person who had my number before me apparently is in deep debt and I keep getting calls from debt collectors threatening her but in real life threatening me.  Therefore, I'm not sure it is a real scam call.

It is sad that they can't catch these people.  I just do whatever I can to mess them up.  As I noted before, I contacted the real company, I also notified UPS that they have fraudulent activity being conducted through one of their stores, and I filed a similar complaint with the phone companies linked to the numbers the woman provided to me.

I can't shut them down, but hopefully, I can cost them money (new phone numbers, etc).

Arrest warrants are only given out in criminal cases only by a judge and only on application by duly constituted law enforcement people.  Debt collectors cannot get arrest warrants, period.  Civil debts are civil.  No crime involved.  The criminal justice system is not involved.  We don't have debtors prisons in the US and haven't since the Civil War.   These kitchen-table debt scammers are always throwing around worthless legal terms from the criminal justice system to scare people into paying them something.   Total scam.

Report 'em:  See:  https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection

Also report 'em to local police and attorney general.

This is a scam.  They buy old lists and then try to collect on those debts on the lists.  I had a payday loan in 2008.  I paid it off and retained proof that I paid it.  Yet, this debt is on a list somewhere that has been sold over and over again.  About every 6-12 months I get a call from people like this.  They threaten to have you arrested, which they can't.  They refuse to provide proof, saying they aren't required to by law (which they are).

I demanded to know the mailing address and company name.  They said it was Rapid Recovery Services.  Now, this is a real company in Illinois.  They tried to scare me into saying sending my proof by mail would take to long.  I told them that I am entitled to due process and that includes them providing proof of the debt.  She disagreed and went on the attack.

I asked why they were calling me from TN if they are in IL and she said that is the corporate office.  So I googled the company name and found that they are real, but with a different address than the woman gave me.  The address she provided is for a UPS Store in a town 70 miles away from the real company.  They didn't do their homework though...because the company name they used notes right on their website that they are not licensed to do business in my home state!  I emailed the actual company and told them about the people using their company name.  It will be interesting to see if they respond since their website states they strictly follow all state and federal collection laws.

One time, I was in a mood so I called back the company at the time.....repeatedly.  They answered and I asked for proof.  They again said they don't have to send any.  For about 2 hours one evening, I had my cell on speaker and just kept redialing them and demanding proof.  Over and over and over.  Finally, they answered the phone this way:  "Terry, PLEASE stop calling us."  That company never called me again.

Another company called on the same paid debt and said they were from a law firm out of Georgia.  Again, they grabbed the name of a legit company and used it as their own. The attorney name they had given me had only 2 attorneys on the state bar under that name.  One was dead and the other was disbarred.  When I mentioned this to them, they hung up and I never heard from them again.

At some point, the statute of limitations will kick in and I can simpify my responses.  The key here is do your homework on them and throw it back at them.  There is nothing they can do.

I also have received a pre recorded message from this number, with no call back number, and no name of anyone to speak with. The people whom I have spoken with, are VERY rude, and speak very broken english, which requires me to ask them to repeat themselves often, and twice they cussed me out ( in plain english, suprisingly enough) and hung up on me. I am pretty sure that they can't issue warrants and have you thrown in jail for not paying a debt they say you owe, without any evidence. If that was the case, the majority of this country would be incarcerated.

I have a friend who works in our PA's office here in my town.  She said they can not issue any warrants.  They can threaten all they want.  The process is they will have to file with the courthouse in your area.  The authorities will then contact you via letter and you can handle from there.  I have turned them into the authorities in my town and the attorney generals office.  Please read my message above.  Its crazy.  I hope no one has fallen for this scam.

They also called me and I disputed the debt. The first gentleman was friendly and said he would place my account on hold until I could verify. I pulled my bank statements for the time period they said I received a pay day loan from a company called payday yes. Needless to say there was no deposit ever made to my account. I called the gentleman back numerous times with no response. I finally tonight called the 423-271-3567 number and spoke with a woman and she told me they would issue a warrant tomorrow by noon if I didnt make payment. I told her I didnt receive funds during that time period and she told me she didnt care and I cannot dispute with their company. Out of curiosity I asked her who the company was that is filing this claim against me and she said she couldnt tell me and when I asked for a supervisor she said she was the supervisor and hung up on me. I even searched the supposed payday yes company on line, called their 888 number and nothing, rings once and then busy. SCAM written all over it!

I received a call from this number yesterday. Stating I owe $1900 on a payday loan that I allegedly took out on a closed bank account.  They say its from 2011.  I had the same bank account until 2012.  They advised this was fraud and they were going to have me arrested if I did not pay them a settled amount of $1500.00 by end of business yesterday.  I then got a call from lady stating she was with our local sheriffs dept and she had a warrant application for me if I did not send her a stop issue letter, that I would be placed under arrest today.  I was to fax it back to her.  She left no details.  I tried to call the number back that was on my ID and it was a fax machine to our local sheriffs dept.  I have a friend who works in the office so I called.  They have never heard of this "Ms. Taylor" and "Brian Jones" who called me the first time stating he was having me arrested has been named before is this exact same scheme.  I have turned this over to my local authorities and the attorney general office. This person had way more information about me than I would think he can get off the internet, which tells me someone has sold him my info.  I am not paying them a dime regardless and if they call my work one more time, they are going to prosecute him for harrassment on a government line.  They sent me an email with an attached letter stating I owe this and they are attempting to collect a debt. But they did not send any proof of any debt.  And every phone number, address, and person is different.  I sure hope something is done about this before someone gets caught up and possibly robbed blind.  Even my local authorties say its a complete scam.  I am so glad I called my paralegal friend and the administration in my town.  This is scary to say the least!

this is the third time in the span of a few months that I've received calls from this number and others like it all belonging to the same company. as with the others i have asked for information and validity of their claims. each time i am threatened with legal proceedings when all I'm asking for is a hard copy of what they claim i owe. does any body out there know if a company can sit on a "debt" for five years without reporting it to the credit bureau?

I received a voicemail stating I had a bad check and legal action would be taken. I called the number back a gentlemen statedI owe over 900.00 to CashNetUSA.  He said you are been recorded and we will take legal action. I informed him that I paid that loan and to do whatever he need to do. I never borrowed that amount. The amount he quoted was triple the amount of the loan. In 2010 Cashnet did withdraw money from my account twice. He stated the account was closed. I know something was wrong with this call because you can't withdraw money from a closed account. This loan was date 2010.
