I received a call from this number and the lady stated "I'm calling you from out of state today on behalf of MasterCard or Visa who have selected you to win a $250 giftcard for WalMart for using their services" I asked which company she was calling from and she said "The Publisher's House" she further explained they are a 3rd party vendor that does surveys for Visa or MasterCard and in addition she wanted to send me 5 different magazines because there is a "new distribution center in your area and we're trying to jump-start circulation". She then asked 5 demographical questions, said that was the end of the survey but that I needed to give her my address. That's when I told her I wasn't interested and hung up.

i received a call from this number today they never left a message. i called them back and it had a busy signal then i called back again and it rang and rang and rang!

These people have been calling me about 3 times per day! 832-380-8272 from Tennesee and from a blocked #. This is clearly a scam! Don't give them any information!

Smart me gave them my card number then they tell I won a 1000 online shopping spree and then he said I'm sorry can we have another number and I said no I don't have one and he said I'm sorry that he couldn't give me the magazines he offered and he couldn't give me the shopping spree...

I got a call from 423-272-1930 the left a voice mail saying I won a $1000 spopping spree and call her back at 423-272-0458 and ask for Heather. I called them back but it always just rings. thought that was fishy that a company like that didn't have a machine. I also got a call a few months ago from someone (I think it's the same people) saying that a credit card company entered me in a drawing for a $1000 seepstakes (I don't even have a credit card) and that just for participating I would get a free watch they also wanted me to sudscribe to a magizine, I said no about the magizine. she said ok you're still entered anyway. I naver got any watch. I've also got a call from 423-272-9183 and didn't leave a message. I wish they would stop!!!

I got a call today saying of course that I won a $1000 shopping spree (Big Surprise).  I also declined after listening to all the other great things that I won.  The call came into my cell phone which is already registered on the Do Not Call list so not sure where they got my number.  All please be aware that you can also report this kind of scam to the FBI at http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx and they will investigate.  I have made my report so hopefully these calls will stop soon.

They called and offered me the subscription and asked about my occupation and age. i lied about both. They then tried to offer me the scam and I opted out before they could ask for my information

they called me on my house phone. i look at the caller id.  it looks like another telemarketing again.  so i decided to let the machine answer it.

THE MESSAGE SAYS......

"hello mam, this is LUANDA with mountain area.  i got some good news and i got some bad news for you.  the good news is you been selected to received our gift certificate which is for $1,000 online shopping for free.  so congratulation and the bad news is i didn't get to talk to you about it.  so would you please give me call back on my direct line at area code 423-272-0458 or gives a our.  my toll free number 877-875-2099 again my name is MALYNDA so i can get that out to verify to you.  your claim number is U716 and again congratulations you have a great day.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT SHE SAID ON MY MESSAGE.

SO THE GOOD NEWS IS I DIDN'T CARE AND THE BAD NEWS IS I'M SMOKING AGAIN.

Calling late at night.

just got the call and i won 1000 dollars, if i pay 3.00 a week for 60 months for magazines. thats like 2800 dollars for magazines. i gave them a fake credit card number, dont trust these a***oles. but well see if they send 1000 dollars.

hahaha this time i got a call from 0 (restricted number) same epeople tho except this guy was real good, he offered me the watch and a bunch of free magazines and asked if i would buy some other magazines to help out. he asked me my age and occupation, i lied and said 25 workin at mcdonalds. he asked me if i still lived at '***' and i was suprised he got it right, i dont know how they got all this info on me, but i told him no , and gave him my old P.O Box which i don't own anymore. then he asked me if it was ok to charge me for those magazines.

i played along with him up until this point, he was all sure of himself and stuff. then he asked if it was ok and i was like uhhhhhh No. he got all confused and asked if there was any other magazines i wanted. i told him magazines kill trees. and he said so does working at mcdonalds (lol). i told him i gotta make a living somehow.  funny i dont really work there haha

got a call from this number,, they knew my name? said i won a $1000 shopping spree and i could access it off of some website that i didn't hear what it was. she said i won cuz of my good credit with The Publishers and good credit with a vise or mastercard credit card, and asked if i have a credit card. i told her no, and she said 'well you must have a credit or debit card, congratulations anyway" and hung up. btw i have pretty bad credit lol

just happened. after reading all these i notice that they have made it a lot more believable and attractive. you can now get the subscription for $2.85 a week. for 60 months. just called back and told them to take me off the call list. stuff is stupid and annoying.

I got a voicemail from a lady with the whole $1000 shopping spree thing too, I never called back. I think they find you when you buy stuff online.

A guy by the name of Rob from (mountainer?) called and left a VM saying that I won a $1000 shopping spree. I return his direct line and was routed to a lady. I ask her what this was about and please take me off the calling list. She hung up and Rob called back. I answer and he ask me if i have a credit card, I said no and he hung up.

PLEASE STOP SPAMMING IF YOU"RE OUT THERE READING THIS YOU"RE WASTING MY CELL PHONE MINUTES!!!!

i got the call just today, from (423) 586-1824! same thing visa or mastercard entered me to win $1000 shopping spree and that they would send me some claim form to pick it up all they needed to know was my age and if I was employed. I mistakinly gave them my age but said unemployed. Are they going to drain my bank account? should I change my account???

SAME THING I KEEP ON GETTING CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER 423-272-9183 AND 423-272-0249 PLEASE EVERYONE KEEP IN MIND THAT YOUR BANK WILL NEVER CALL YOU AND ASK YOU FOR YOUR INFORMATION TO ANY OF YOUR ACCOUNTS OVER THE PHONE THEY ALREADY HAVE THAT INFO SO WHY WOULD THEY CALL YOU, ALSO KEEP IN MIND THESE PEOPLE THAT CALL FROM THESE NUMBERS ONLY WANT YOU TO PAY FOR CRAP THAT ISNT WORTH IT.

I got a call from 1-423-272-9183 , A women said "Hello" and hung & when I replied with my name She hung up.

Got a call from this number earlier, saying the same things as what everyone else has been told.  $1000 shopping spree from The Publishers because I was a preferred Visa or Mastercard holder, then asked if I still held either one of these cards and if they were attached to my checking account. I did not respond, so she went on to tell me they would send my certificate for the shopping spree in the mail tomorrow, she just need a few more details about me.  I told her I was not interested and hung up.

When they first called, the lady said "I just called to let you know you have won a $1,000.00 shopping spree. Have a good day" then hung up. She called right back. It turns out I could get the $1,000.00 shopping spree if I signed up for a $16.95 magazing subscription for 60 months. I declined and she thanked me and ended the call. The name she gave me for her business was The Publishing Service which cannot be found on the web and also told me they have a website I could go to but I cannot access it until I was a member. I asked if there was any other way to verify the business and there was not. I searched by this area code and found this website which explains exactly what happened to me.

I play Mob Wars on facebook. I filled out this survey to get more "godfather points" and after that I have been getting calls from this number saying I won $1000 shopping spree. I told them that I did not want it and for them to stop calling me but then they called me back 2 hours later.  They also call me from 919 793-8599 and 919 879-8599.  I have now told them to not call me and remove me from the calling list.  It is a scam and they want your checking account information and other personal info. If they call you tell them to remove your name from there calling list.  I wrote Mob Wars to let them know that I feel it is wrong to have advertisement like this on the site. Hope this helps someone!

Wow! Serendipity! I also won a thousand dollar shopping spree in a contest and got a call from this number. Funny thing - I never enter contests.

I received some calls from the same number. Also I received calls from numbers very close. All these calls were merchandise, marketing...

I have received several calls from this area code, different numbers with the same area code, they do not leave a message, but continue to call.
