I have received this as well on Monday and called back today. The guy told me his name was Michael Williams and then I asked him later on what his name was again and he said Nelson. But Michael is a colleague, etc. He said he was doing a curtsey to me to let me know this was happening. They aren't looking to get the $843 back but to make an example of me, etc. He said I will be subpoenaed and served tomorrow apparently. I have contacted FTC and the one loan I have stated this is fraudulent and don't worry about it. I searched my state cases to see if there was anything on me and there is not. Very scary regardless but I hope this stops.

Just called me. 3x in a row told me I am the prime suspect in whatever the heck he said in his broken English. When I finally answered he started his script I didn't let him finish I hung up in his face. They have called a couple months ago threatening that I would be arrested if I didn't pay told me my local sheriff would deal with me I then proceeded to tell him to do some very explicit things to his donkey and mother after he called me a piece of s*** then I hung up on him
fyi still here never arrested total scam DON'T fall for it especially if they have no proof also contact your credit bureau since they have your version sensitive information

They just called me at work. Said they were with Tim Large law office and was calling to obtain my lawyers informations. When I asked what this was regarding he could not tell me. Asked if I recieved lawsuit paperwork in mail advised no. I again asked what was it about he could not tell said he needed to transfer me to the officer with all information..I asked for his name and call back number he said I would have to call him(Frank) back and he could transfer me. I hung up and googled Tim Large law office and nothing comes up. I then googled this number and seen these comments..Good thing :). This has to do with pay day loans..few weeks ago I was online seeking information for one...BIG MISTAKE! Now people wont stop calling me and now this. Please be careful people. This is a HUGE scam and I hope they get caught...

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam a year ago:

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

unfortunately i hadnt never been in trouble and couldnt really understand them so of course i fell for it on wednesday and paid the 786.23 and then yesterday a supposedly dispatcher had called from my home town. he got mad when i started questioning him. i then called the ppl i had paid 786.23 too by the name of tony brown . he then proceeds to tell me that my payment had been blocked by one creditor for me to call them which the number was 7133708073 and his name was chris harris which ironic because my son name is chris harris. they began to threaten me with all kind of legal procedures if i didnt send them 998.00 to unblock the 786. so i have an appointment at the attorney general office. they also called me today from a number that said conway police edept so i called them they knew nothing about a warrant for my arrest.

Yes my daughter received the same call telling her that she is going to jail because she owes them $493.00 for a payday loan and she never received. They had her to send them $180.00 for processing and she still didnt receive the money so i called them and got the same response they started yelling and shouting and stated that if the money is not paid by 3:00pm today then on Monday she will be arrested so my sister called them to get the name of their law office and they hung up on her twice but then he answered and gave her this name and she then found out its a SCAM

This man from this number has called my job at least 6 times, stating that he is calling from an attorney office about an debt.  I informed him that I do not have a debt and this is a scam and he repeated the last 4-digits of my ss# and said that if it isnt legal; then why does he have this information.  I told him, he hacked it from somewhere...

I know who they are....
If you have ever inquired about a payday loan or received a payday loan, they somehow got your info and called to claim you took a loan out but never paid it back. IT'S A SCAM. It has happened to me a couple times. They call and try to scare you into submission by saying you're going to jail or going to be arrested or sued, etc. After the 3rd time, I started messing with the guy and said "come and get me, etc." He got so pissed off that I wasn't buying into it that he started yelling and told me to "watch my back". Right then I realized it was a scam and they had no legal recourse or they wouldn't have stooped to childish tactics when they weren't getting there way. Ignore them or give it right back to them. NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. It's a scam. Report them to your local authorities. I did...

I received this same call from a guy identifying himself as Mark Spencer telling me that this was a "time sensitive" matter and to not disregard or the only thing he can do is wish me good luck as the situation unfolds on me. I called back and another person answered "Law Office." He would not identify the name of his law office. I asked for Mark Spencer and he had stepped away. The guy would give me no further information aside from "there's a legal emergency." He told me to stand by and Mark Spencer would call me back. Called my spouse too and he started threatening her, telling her he would be at the jail to watch her taken into custody. She gave the number of our attorney and he hung up.

I received this same call today and it has made me nervous all day.  I was finally calming down and realizing it was a scam when I received a call from "911" on my cell phone telling me it was my location police and they are investigating a police report against me.  When I said it's a bogus report the "police officer" got snippy and hung up on me.    Especially since all of these reports are from today!

Also when I had called them back the for the second time doing them as they done me they didn't need any info to pull my file with a blocked number to tell me what I owed lol
