We receive 2-3 calls a day from somebody stating they are updating our online yellow pages ad.  I'll usually tell them to fax it to me for verification which they never do since it is a scam.  I have tried to get transferred to a supervisor to get our name off the call list.  Since we are a business it ties up our line (we are a doctors office) and is becoming a real problem.

Finally got them to stop calling.  They don't care about do-not-call lists but they do seem to care if you ask them to hold for a second while you begin the call tracing and tell them that you are required to inform them the call will be recorded.  Especially if you suggest you might be working with the FTC.

WHEN I GET THE CALLS, I JUST TELL THEM I DONT DO ANY WORK IN INDIA AND HANG UP.

This number has called us several times.  Sounds like someone from India who claimed they are with an on-line directory updating our business contact information.  Stated this was a free service and we would not be charged.  Then he told me to select a pin number.  Next thing I know they are saying they will send a follow-up package to upgrade our service for $39.95.  I told them "no" we only want the free listing.  Then he tried to twist every questions I asked about hidden fees and making sure that we are not charged for any service.  He started screaming at me "I aready told you there is no fee". I finally hung up and he called back 3 more times.  I finally pick back up and tell the guy I am transferring the call to the owner.  He says "no, no".  I hang up again.  Then he calls back I pick up say I'm transferrring the call to the owner and he says you are being charged $39.95 and I say "no, no we don't want the service" and he tells me again that we are being charged and I say "no, no we don't want the service" and the guy says, "yes" and hangs up on me.  The other call came from a local number 574-269-5009. When I Goggled the number it matches a 24 hour club in Winona Lake, IN.  When I called that number back I received a recording that the number was no longer in service.

Again complained about Online Yellow Pages to FTC today; told OYP to remove the ad, that we don't want to be listed, and to remove us from their call lists.  They are calling daily now, but "Chris" got thru. I told him we know about this scam and we still are not interested in being ripped off.  He eventually hung up on me when I asked how much they pay him to lie to me.  NEVER say yes or OK.

Reported Online Yellow Pages to FTC today; on 9/11/09 I asked to be removed from their lists.  Caller asks "Is this (badly mangles owner's name)" in a thick, India-type accent. "Ben" wants to update our "free listing".  Beware, Ben is very good.  I very much doubt this noisy call center is in Tenn.  Go get 'em FTC!!

Same as above calls--no message, don't answer.  I will resort to profanities next time they call.  I hope to answer them only one time.
