Whoever is calling from this phone number lives in Tennessee.  They have a
land line phone serviced from Bell South.  I contacted Bell South (AT&T)
and sent a copy of a law that is on the internet indicating harassing
phone calls are a misdemeanor and punishable by law.  I sent a copy of the
law along with the phone number telling AT&T since they own the equipment
lines, they are responsible for users using equipment irresponsibly and
would be held accountable by the law.  I advised them to contact the
residents using 423-733-8551 and cease making the harassing calls or they
will be held accountable to the proper authorities.

I think it's one of those calls that will call you and immediately hang up, and if you call them back, you get a buttload of money charged to your account. i've seen it happen before i've gotten that call 6 times in the last week.

Three numbers from the same location:  423-733-1217, 423-733-8617, and 423-733-8551 all located on same street Jail St Zip 37869 and a man in his early 30's answers the phone stating he is a representative from Publishers ------ and that a credit card you own has entered you in a drawing where you have won $1000.  Then he will ask for your personal information.  Just politely get his name or something of him and call HIS police department in Sneedville TN at 423-733-2254.  The Chief of Police is Charles Dunsmore:

They called me this morning and told me I have won a $1000 shopping spree. When I had told them I have no occupation, they said I didn't qualify and hung up. Called from 423-733-8551.

I just recieved that message today and it's making me angry that they have my phone number and know my name. I hope they don't keep calling me. The number was 423-733-8551

this number has called my CELL phone twice today so far and its only 2pm.  i keep missing the calls but if i do answer they will not be happy because i will give the "what for?!!"  this is my CELL its supposed to be private!!!!!

i agree with you, the same lady called me a while back (423-733-8551 MTN Area Comm), she told me i have won a gift voucher or something, then she wanted to confirm  my age,and what i do, i said am a student and dont have a job and she dismissed me so quickly..

Left a message saying I won a 10,000 dollar gift card for online shopping and then... asked for a credit card number.

I keep getting calls from this and several other 423-733-xxx numbers.These are unsolicited, unwanted calls

"BILLY" called several times and hung up. Today I answered and he introduced himself saying I won a $500 shopping spree and there was no catch. He then stated that I also will receive 6 free subscriptions to magazines which I told him I would not read. He said he would send me a list of magazines to pick from and he only ask that I pay $3.85 a week to cover the cost of this "free" service. I told him I did not want to pay $3.85 a week for magazines and he HUNG UP on me!! FREE is supposed to mean FREE not with a CATCH. I want to find out the name of this company and report them for harassment!

I have received several calls from this number and two other numbers in same area code and prefix. I do not answer calls on my cell phone from numbers I don't recognize. They never leave a message. The other numbers are 423-733-8906 and 423-733-2474. Everything I'm finding on these numbers say its a scam but I don't really have any info because I don't answer the calls.

A woman called me from this number yesterday and the connection was all garbled and she said that she was from ......publisher....calling.....long distance.... and I won a $500 shopping spree online (SCORE.) and it's not a gimmick, not  a scam. It just a very small shipping fee- um okaaaayyy. I was thinking haha yeeeahh riiight. Then she asked me if I hold a visa or master card and whether or not I pay my bills by checking account or money order (RED F-ING FLAG). So then she asked me for my info: How old are you? 22. What's your occupation? I'm a student. (SHORT PAUSE)- okay that's all the information we need from you- be looking for that in the mail! Thank you. Hope I don't see any weird charges on my account- but I didn't give her any other info so i should be OK right?

this number called my CELL PHONE twice today. once in the morning, followed a few minutes later by another call from a different number in the same area code, 423-733-8137) i didn't recognize the number or even the area code, so i didn't answer the first time. when i checked the white pages, this is the information i got:

the next time the number called, i picked up and some woman who KNEW MY NAME told me that i had been entered into some kind of sweepstakes just for having a Visa/MasterCard/Discover Card and that i had a chance to win 25 thousand dollars and/or a trip to hawaii. she then wanted to confirm my year of birth and my occupation. i told her my birth year, and that i was a student. she seemed thrown off for a second, and then asked if i had any source of income to which i said "not at the moment." she then seemed in quite the hurry to get off the phone with me.

so i guess it's a good idea to tell a telemarketer that you don't have a job!

this number has been calling my daughters cell phone, they even called her by name when she answered - i tried to call them back, but either it just rings or i get a busy signal - it makes me very uncomfortable for them to be contact a childs cell phone and call them by name (the bill is in my name) - there has got to be a way to stop these people

I'm getting the same thing as everyone else here: I've received three phone calls total from this number, one of which was at SEVEN IN THE MORNING. That ticked me off incredibly. Just today, I have received two phone calls from this number, one at eight-thirty this morning and one just moments ago (about five in the evening). The first time they called (the seven am call), I actually answered because I thought it might be about a job application. However, it's some guy telling me I won a sweepstakes (which apparently I entered just by owning a Visa/MasterCard/Discover Card). These calls ALL end the same way--trying to get you to buy a magazine subscription that ends up costing you $600 or more, which by the way is now ILLEGAL. I've been hanging up on them today, but the next time they call you (this is what I am going to do), tell them to take your number off their call list. They have to do it.

I looked this phone number up on the net and says it was a residential phone number from Sneedville, TN.  I come to find out it is a telemarketer who got a hold of my number.  I never answered the call because I didn't recognize the number.

This is a TELEMARKETER!!! Possibly a scam artist. Called my CELL phone and three times at least. Told me I'm entered in some stupid contest. I didn't listen to anything else. But I'm sure they want money for something. Beware!
