So just so every one knows this company closed 3/15/2013. I called 1-877-875-2098 and spoke to a rep. who i asked to close my account and she said they were closed as of the 15th so I asked if you were closing why would you try to take money out of my account on the 14 and the 15. she had no response and she said there was no one to talk to. I just wanted to share this info for anyone else who needed advice about them or a current phone number for the time anyway. good luck i suggest to just block all magazine companies from you account and buy from the stand.

The number you listed is no longer in service. Apparently, the lies and fraud caught up with them...what a scam.

I was taken by them for almost a year before i caught on i have called to cancel so then they would go under another name on my account. Two said just "Magazines" the other was called "Mountain Area Comm." of course I only subscribed for one and somehow I had three companies going after me for the same subscription. And they all got paid. So i tried to call them and the number was disconnected. Go figure! However I was able to block them all through my bank as a fraudulent accounts. No more magazine subscriptions for me.

Research complete!

Mountain Area Magazines ARE NOT BBB ACCREDITED and the rating is F!

Any call to your offices are redirected to "Subscription Services," who claim to only handle accounts, boasting about their B+ BBB rating.  They must have rated themselves, because THEY ARE NOT BBB ACCREDITED either!

Nice racket your company/ies are running...you do your dirty work under names such as Mtn Area Magazines, Mtn Area Communications, and many more names, and then make stupid threats at people who find you out.

Company Publishers Sweepstakes or Publishers Services keeps calling even after I tell them not to call me again. They claim free services for magizines but want to charge a shipping and handling fee of 3.99. That's not free. I am going to file a complaint with FCC. I already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

They tried to mess with the wrong people this time! When my husband and I told them who we were they about wet themselves....

I was offered a $1000 shopping spree online if I ordered 3 magazines a week for 60 months. I called back and asked for the 'agent' who called me just two minutes prior - and she was suddenly gone. I had a new 'agent' talk with me who then proceeded to transfer my call to a manager. I checked the BBB and they had a "F" rating. Also, their website was "under construction". I asked who gave them my information and they said that either Visa or Master-card did. I asked if I could have a contract to to have my lawyer review they said that they don't mail things out since that would raise costs to them.

When I asked for any type of document to be reviewed by my lawyer and they refused. I knew 100% that this was a SCAM!

I have researched your compandy. The only thing i have found are complaint boards and maybe a fake web page made by your " company" the reason you are able to stay opened is ecause you are taking hundreds of dollars from peopel's accounts with out permission. It's only a select few people that actually make the harrassing phone cals o it's safe to assume you do not have many employees. Then you try to black mail people by saying  you have a recording of them agreeing to a " contract". Incase you did not know a verbal contract is not binding in most states.

They called said I would recieve a $500 gift card as well, with purchasing of magizines for 60 months at like 50 bucks a month. They would not tell me how they got myinfor except that one my my creditors or banks suggest me to recieve the gift. They asked for my age and not my b-day. Tries transferring me, but told me the line was busy and another person would call to verify. This number was the verifing people, who only wanted my credit info. I tried to call back the 8906 or whatever enumber and te guy said tat they cannot do anyhting. I called back the 9664 number and its always busy. I fell for it like an idiot, but I called my bank immediately and reported it. The transaction of theirs is in pending, but once it is out of pending the bank said rthey will refund it, and change my credit card number for me. If you fell for it like me..lol. then i suggest you do the same.

Your right its not illegal to do what your doing its just wrong.. You people get a phone number and  call and call at all hours of the day then when those Unfortunat ones answer you you sell them some big SCAM and use terms like YOU WIN , PUBLISHERS, SWEEPSTAKES and MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTIONS trust me your not Ed McMan because my prize money never came nor did I even get the phone call from your so called prize department and when that didn?t happen I got smart closed my bank account and filed a complaint with several departments. Put it this way you can take your magazines and your fraudulent prize and stick them where the sun don?t shine. I run my own company and when someone googles my phone number it brings up my company profile not a bunch of pissed off people blogging that my company is a scam? What your doing may be legal but its not right and people that do what you do for a living have just as many morals as any other criminal or crack w***e has in this world. Your parents must be proud.

If indeed i won, all they have to do is mail the said certificate afterall, they know my address and even my full name. Isn't it scary how people these days can trace your whereabouts and call you? mountain area communications sells magazines, they are magazine telemarketers, that is just the way it is, if we were charging people and not sending the magazines do you not think the company would be closed by now? Go ahead and research us, because the service they provide isn't in any way illegal, just because it seems fishy or inconvenient to you.

They called me on my cell this morning and said i had won a $500 dollar gift certificate.  They asked me how old I was but not for my birth date, and where i was working and if my monthly income was over 1000 dollars a month.  I told them because I had just entered some sweepstake stuff and they said that i would recieve the gift certificate in the mail.  Could they steal my identity?  I dont make over $1000 dollars a month so do you think they wont bother with me if they had enouch information?

ANYONE, ANY CALLER OR COMPANY, THAT CALLS YOU AND WHEN YOU PICK UP AND YOU SAY HELLO SAYS YOUR NAME (and you dont know the number) IS A SCAM!!!

ANYONE, ANY CALLER, OR COMPANY THAT ASKS ANY INFORMATION SUCH AS BANK ACCT, SOCIAL SEC. OR ASK TO VERIFY YOUR ADDRESS AND YOU DID NOT CONTACT THEM FIRST, IS A SCAM (not saying that all companies are, but usually soliciting phone calls where they say your name, make you an offer, when you say no, they reduce the offer, are just not legite)  Tell them, if they would like that information, you woould like them to send something to you first, perhaps via e-mail or mail, (tell them not to contact you by phone anymore) that way you can get the address for their main headquarters. If they call again, after you asked them not too, you may file claims for such actona, just keep a record of all contacts!

Sorry I have written soo much, just trying to help anyone out, maybe me typing all this can help anyone, even if it is just 1 person...

They have called me, I had told them they had the wrong number, I looked up the number up on the internet and luckily found out that it was indeed a scam.  This way that when they call again, I can figure out where they are located, find out more info and report them to a higher authority so good people that may not be able to look into the offers, or have the internet, will not fall victim to this awful harrassment telemarketing phone scam.

**Also, since I know it is a scam, and have been gathering more info on them (Im in law for a living in case you are wondering), I decided to ring them back - I constantly got the busy signal...but tonight a woman answered and she didnt say hello, she sai "MOUNT AIRY COMMUNICATIONS, DID YOU RECEIVE A PHONE CALL" and I hung up...IRONIC, b/c when they tried to pretend to know my name and who I was, they said they were calling on bhalf of a Publishing Company, not a Communications company...

BEWARE good people, do not be taken advantage of, do something about them and report it. Write down the number, the name they give you, tell them they have reached the wrong number but ask them what company they are calling from and their name, maybe if you can even ask where their headquarters is too, ya never know what they are willing to say (or make up).
ALWAYS KEEP A RECORD OF CORRESPONDANCE, and then report all that you can, even if just on a website like this, it will help rid of these pitiful relentless companies such as this one and help others avoid such problems.
