2-search on awesome websites such as this one,for the phone number and once you see the numbers here,

I get this call almost every other night

Call from this number came in at 5:59pm PST on 6-March-2013.  No msg left on ans machine. Caller ID reads "Hermosa Beach  CA." Redialed number and auto voice said to press 1 to be put on THEIR Do Not List (we're already on the federal DNC list!).
Do not release or acknowledge any personal or financial information to anyone you do not know, especially not your SSN.

I agree with above poster who said JUST DON'T ANSWER THEM.  Yes they are aggravating but if you answer, you are confirming a live number.  I do hope there is such a thing as Karma...

Receiveing unwanted phone calls from this number.

I now have six SCAM numbers entered in my phone book and assigned different rings, but the creeps keep using new numbers to call me from.  I have reported them to the Do Not Call Registry but still receive them.  What are they doing anyhow?

Folks, just don't answer.
#1. They have multiple numbers they call from and can always get more. Blocking is really not an option, especially if your service provider limits the numbers you can block to just a few.
#2. They're not calling you - they are robo-calls, generating random phone numbers. If you answer, they know they have a "live" one. Don't pick up any call from any number you don't recognize. Legitimate callers will leave a message.
#3. There is no point in reporting these to anyone. The "Do not call" list can only work if the "business" gives a rip about its reputation. Since these aren't businesses at all (just scams) they have no reputation to care about. And there are too many numbers for any understaffed federal agency to go after.
    So .... don't answer.

They just called me today, claiming to be Microsoft support and that they'd noticed my computer had viruses so if I turned it on now they would guide me through installing the proper firewall.  Heavy accent, barely spoke English and I could hear the murmur of dozens of other voices in the background making the same kind of calls.

My phone never rings when they make their failed attempts, their spoofed caller id info doesn't get displayed so they can't collect on that part of the scheme either! It's obvious they have no brains between their shoulders and their heads consist of nothing but empty space!

This and other numbers they use has also been connected with a few other well known and overly worn out scams! I'm sure pretty much everyone knows it's a scam by now ... but these freaking idiors behind it are too stupid to comprehend any of that.

The carrier these morons use is Paetec! Although they have also been known to use CallID4U (a morph from Pacific Telecom, a phony service intended to generate revenue by repeatedly having their spoofed info displayed on Caller ID as well as scam millions of people by trying to steal personal info from them and wven their identities) ... norhing whatsoever legit about any of that but always 100% illegal!!!

Our phone rang around 2:45  pm on 2-28-13.  No one spoke when I answered the call.
I said, "If this is 424-241-1697 (as identified by caller ID), then I will report this call." And then I hung up.

A step ahead of these idiots! Yea, they tried spamming my phone with this number too (after failing to do the same on the last one they used - (424) 241-1698). But I already blacklisted/blocked this and all the other numbers these moron's use.

If you receive an call from an unknown number from the 424/Hermosa Beach area code you can be sure it's these morons!!! Don't pick up and answer, don't call back or press any number. That's how they know they reached a live number and will make more harassing, illegal calls to your phone as well as pass your number on to other scammers.

Report rhem, check out services like Google Voice or call blockers like Digitone 10 to block these idiots and all the other idiots. With Digitone you can have a whitelist of numbers you want to hear from and it has a wildcard feature where you can enter area codes (like this one).

What these a-holes, and all the orher scamming pond scum, are after is your personal information and even your identity to steal ... they never have anything to offer anyone, all they want to do is take! Never give out any pwrsonal infoemation over the phone especially to strangers. These scammers, and all the others, are counting on you foolishly giving them all they need to rob you of everything you have!
