I got the call this morning - 8:52am PT in California on 2/12/2014.
This guy is very active still - said there is some illegal activity on my income tax returns and that my husband should call back phone number 415-251-9454; mr John Anderson; to discuss our case further else they will be taking action.
What guts these people have to carry off such a scam!!

Got a separate call earlier in the week (530-208-0685) from what HAS to be the same guy (not to stereotype)? This time (SAT at around NOON, PST, calling from 425-209-1032) I went off on him, when I should have just not picked up the phone (he was in the middle of leaving a message).

But, same story as earlier in the week? Scam guy  (SUPER thick accent w/bad phone connection, and numerous others talking in background) claims to be w/IRS and that I have probs w/my taxes, in past years. I ask him if he mailed anything, and he says they did repeatedly (impossible). I ask him to tell me the last 4 digits of my SS# and he says he's "not authorized, only a senior member can do that." He tells me to call JOHN ANDERSON (from the band YES, no doubt); I tell him to mail stuff again; no way I'm giving tax info over phone to a random guy when no caller ID info shows up, other than this number. And yes, he was super aggressive. SCAM!!!!!!

Caller 425-209-1032 is activate an Indian male who is thereatening that he knows me and knows where I am at.  With all of the technology we have these days it is surprising that individuals can still get away with threatening and stalking law abiding citizens.  I have filed a police report and I encourage iothers to do the same.

Number isn't dead, it's now making its rounds to Hawaii residents. Got two calls and messages from this number at my parents' house, BUT the message asks to be called back at 530-208-0695. Too bad the local IRS office here isn't taking calls for complaints. I agree that this scam will easily take advantage of the elderly. Be careful, people.

The person called my parents house and said it was urgent I call him.  His name he claimed was William Kelly.
I called back with my number blocked.  First call was disconnected or hung up on immediately.  I tried again and the guy answers, "IRS".  He sounded so unprofessional that I had to ask, where am
I calling because someone left a message to call back.  He answered all angry, why are you calling if you don't know where you are calling.  I definitely caught an attitude and said because as I said someone left a message and didn't say where they were from so where is this.  He answers this is the investigation department of the IRS.
He sounded so shady and not legit that I just mumbled about how I'll figure it out myself and hung up on him.
I noticed some of the peoples names here are south Asian.  I'm south Asian as well.  This guy had a south Asian accent.  I've heard of other scams where they target certain nationalities and can manipulate the elderly because they will speak their language or things of the sort.  I've given my mom the lesson that anything suspect, take a number and one of the kids will call back.  I don't care if they say you won a lottery or have an amazing deal on dish network.
Be careful and warn your parents too.

I got a call from this same phone number at about 7:45 EST this Monday morning. I immediately terminated the call but one minute later, he called again. Based on the Seattle area phone prefix 425, the caller must be a very early morning riser to call at 4:45 am. His heavy Indian accent was barely understandable. He wanted me to call his IRS supervisor at 425-209-1032 right away.

I just dialed a legitimate IRS number and the woman I talked to advised me to ignore such calls. The IRS always sends out a letter first when there is an issue, she told me.

The same thing just happened to my parents. These guys need to be stopped; they are scaring elderly people, and probably successfully robbing them. They are fraud. The guy tells my dad, they only accept cash and not checks...come on, the IRS not accepting checks... Hell hath truly frozen over.

I received a message from this number claiming to be an IRS Agent asking me to call him back. Searched the IRS website and saw an IRS warning about IRS call scams.  IRS said it will contact you via mail if you have tax problems not via phone.  I am posting the IRS link below for everyone's information.  Please let people know about this scam and report the number to www.ftc.gov
