This number won't stop calling me. I don't even know how they even got my number. Creepy

I put an add on Craigslist looking for some labor.  I put my phone # on the add and that night I start getting calls from this number.  Every day I get 4 or 5 calls from them.  No message left.  Research indicates a "Stonebridge Life Insurance", but "Stonebridge" is a pseudonym for several Renton/Seattle corporations which get regular complaints for billing people for unwanted services.  I kept digging and found that "Stonebridge Life Insurance" is now called "Transamerica Life Insurance" and is really a SHELL corporation for JC Penney credit and collections.  I found several examples of individuals who worked for BOTH Stonebridge/Transamerica AND JC Penney collections.  

The scam seems to go a little like this: JC Penney's and Shell gas employs an outside corporation to drum up sales, any way they can.  They use "phishing" programs to cull any information they can whatsoever to tie a bank account to a real person.  They then charge that persons bank account for ONGOING products and services for their clients, and the client corporations then try to collect on the criminally incurred debt, hoping they can get someone to pay them off just to get them out of their hair.  

It's a total scam.  Don't pick up, just click "options" on your phone and relegate this number to the "blocked" list.  

Nobody talks, No message lefy

I,too, was getting multiple calls from this number.  They never left a message.  I called back and received a recording that this is a marketing company presenting a "valuable" offer from Stonebridge Life Insurance.  Stonebridge had added charges to both my JC Penny and Shell accounts in the past and it took months to get the charges discontinued-I never received credit for the months the charges were placed on my bills prior to the discontinuance. They told me they had received authorization to add the charges, but, could not provide the name of the person who authorized the charges or the date and time that took place. JC Penny and Shell took the position it was not their problem until I got the State of Washiington AG office involved at which time they decided to advocate and dispute the charges on my billings..
My advice- Don't pick up!

I keep getting calls from this number .... several times a day.  They hang up when my answering machine comes on since I don't answer calls from unknown numbers.  Totally annoying!!!  Sometimes the caller ID shows "Renton" - sometimes it shows "SLC".
