Educate yourself, your family, and others about spam/scam/phishing phone calls and e-mails. You have already made an important step by coming to 800notes. Be sure to read the various forums and news postings.

If on your Caller ID you should see a name and/or number (or no number) you recognize, don't pick up the call! If you open an e-mail, and the information about how to get off the contact list contains only a "suite number", and no phone number, delete the e-mail immediately!

I receive calls from this number quite a few times a week.  With all these complaints, certainly you can do something about it.

Received a call with no answer from this number on my PTEL mobile (uses T -Mobile);  this costs me  money.   I noticed others mentioned their mobile number was being called.  Has someone investigated if this is not a mobile company hoax to run up your bill?  I pay per minute...  and a few thousand of these can be lots of $$ for the phone company.   I'd even venture to guess they company allows their customer numbers be "accidenally" stolen by hackers... by keeping security low on their systems?  I also got calls from a 317 area code today who also hung up after few seconds of silence, and this type of prank call has not been happening until I switched over from NEXTEL to PTEL/T-Mobile.

I have gotten 12 calls from this number in the last two weeks. Don't solicite me if I wanted something I would call you. There is nothing that you can offer me that I want to buy.

This number calls everyday, at least once sometimes twice. I don't answer, so I don't know who it is.

Received call from this number saying he was with Best Rate Referrals for refinancing your mortgage.

The callers' name was Dennis, he advised they find a lender to handle your refinance at a lower interest rate.  Suggested First National Bank?

Googled Best Rate Referrals and there is a website.
