I received two calls from 425 587-1004. The second one was today, March 24th at about 2:30 p.m.. A recording said they were implementing a directive from President Obama about refinancing mortgages, and when I pushed "1" as instructed (to find out if I qualified), the recording asked me to leave my full name and number. That's what happened before, too, but I didn't report it. It bothers me that the recorded message suggests it somehow originates from Obama and has some governmental authority.
Caller ID said "Health Services"

425-587-1004 is a repeat call to my cell phone. I don't answer calls I don't recognize. Most of the time there is no message. I thought this was illegal.

Everyone PLEASE file complaints and use that "Haffar Law" info that 2 people gave earlier to do it! I'M SICK SICK SICK of calls from this co! I've gotten at least 30 of 'em, more like 50 of 'em, over the past year! It always starts with "President Obama's new plan" will do this or that -- this one had to do with health insurance, but it will sometimes have stuff about mortgage rate lowering or debt consolidation. This law firm does bankrutcy law. If it is this firm really doing these calls, that is very slick and also illegal. "Haffar and associates" appears to be just one lawyer, Mohamed Hafar. On their website, www.haffarlaw.com, it states also that "Mr. Haffar is also a multi state mortgage broker through his brokerage, Allied Financial Network, Inc. He has extensive knowledge of federal and state lending laws and experience with the foreclosure and bankruptcy processes." That would explain the mortgage calls. I plan to file a better business bureau complaint but MOST IMPORTANTLY, everyone PLEASE file a complaint with the FCC. If you file it with the do not call list, that is just the FTC and while they'll use the info, they won't necessarily investigate unless they're looking at the company already. The FCC, on the other hand, will definitely look into the allegations. You can file there via www.fcc.gov/cgb/donotcall/ and scroll down to "how to file a complaint". You can file via the electronic form (just click on it), via e-mail, phone, fax, or regular mail. Here is the info on the company that someone posted already -- put it in the FCC form when you file a complaint: Haffar and Associates, 625 Broadway
Suite 825
San Diego, CA 92101

Is the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY no longer in effect? They were supposed to give $1000 fines to spammers.

Why haven't the phone companies cut off phone service to this obvious criminal scammer?
Please do it!

Oh gee, Fred... and G. W. Bush wasn't a "King" himself?! NO other president did more lying and scamming than Bush and his ilk. He ran this country like a monarchy and a dictator, not a democratically elected President (worse... he wasn't ever legitimately elected in the first place!) Wake up, dude!
George Washington 2010-05-27 22:51:52 Unknown
your the president, and I am George Washington
President Barack Obama 2010-05-27 22:48:32 Unknown
Dear Sean-
This is a bit off-point, but I am compelled to reply to one of your aside comments.
I am not "that guy" as you stated in your reply. I am the President of the United States of America and was elected by a majority of the citizens of the United States of America in November 2008. Perhaps you can suggest exactly why you call me "that guy" instead of "President Obama." Was my predecessor also "that guy" in your eyes?
Spook 2010-05-18 15:48:47 Unknown
These guys are apparently Pond Scum based on the responses here.
My favorite way to make them pay is to spend some of my time waiting at airports on the Pay Phone. Call them from a pay phone and it's going to cost them 50cents to $1.00 a call. Don't tell them what you're doing or they will ask their phone provider to exclude incoming calls from pay phones.
Enjoy!

Just got a call from this number today at work. It also said health services and we are health insurance brokers. When I answered I listened all the way through to see what it was saying. It said for a free quote on affordable health insurance please call or press for more options. I just hung up and researched internet on the number that came up on caller ID. From these posts, it sounds like maybe Obama is now trying to get everyone signed up for his government run health plan as well.....not sure how Haffar & Associates fits into this, but they must be pushing the health reform plan for the government.
Fred 2010-05-06 21:10:31 Unknown
King Obama only wants to close legitimate businesses. He likes scammers because he himself is a lying scammer.

No mention of Obama on this one. Was listed on caller ID as Health Services, so I answered thinking it had something to do with my sons medical coverage. Wants me to press 1 (mentioned many times) to talk to someone about how to reduce my debt by half. No mention of how to remove my number from their list. Pressing 1 gets a voicemail stating all agents are busy, please leave your name and number.
I have filed a complaint on donotcall.gov where my phone number has been listed for well over a year. I thought, by law, if they weren't a non-profit, they couldn't phone you, and if they did, they had to, if it was a recorded message, give you an option to opt out of future phone calls. If that is indeed correct, I do hope the government goes after these parasites.

Called and offered reduce my debt if I owe $10K or more... What debt? Enough already!....
P. Smith 2010-03-29 16:33:44 Unknown
We get these calls all the time even though we are on the national do no call list. I usually ignore any calls that are not my area code and that I don't recognize. But my husband was home and can't stand to hear the phone ring.
fedup 2010-03-29 16:19:36 Unknown
Evidently the fine for telemarketing is small. Likely small potatoes to these large boiler rooms. They aren't stopping, so what does that tell us? Registering at the donotcall.gov is a waste of our time.
