I have also been getting calls from 425-606-3821. The man on the phone said his name is Peter Oliver and he is a tech from Microsoft. I did conntact Microsoft after my Windows 7 stopped working and it kept asking for my key code...which I do not have and my personal computer tech says I need in order for him to repair this issue.
Bottom line. This man, Peter Oliver, has a very thick accent and its difficult to understand him. He knew that I did not have my key code and told me that after doing some basic check-ups on my computer he would provide me the much needed key code info. I need.
After an hour, or so, of going through these so called basic check-ups he claims my computer has been hacked and that my IP address has been compromised. Then the soft sale sales pitch comes into play. I asked him for my key code, which he never gave to me, but he said he would provide me the key code after he does further testing and I allowe him, at an unknown cost, to install windows tools to take care of my computer issues.
I told him I needed to talk to my personal computer tech.

I received call on my cell--they asked for me by name--but an appreviated version of my name that I do not use much--and they told me there was a problem with the licensing registry of my Windows---and when I told them the computer was off and hadnt been used in months--she said it didnt matter--that there was fraud activity on it. She gave me this number to call back to Microsoft when I was at my computer.
I pay for Geek Squad. Am going to take the computer to Best Buy and have THEM check it.Thats what I have insurance for---will not give info to any stranger on the phone.
But I DO wonder--how they got my name and cell number----

You are even writing in proper english. So please use a windows computer, use word then spell and grammer check. Then cut and paste it in so it looks believable..

I just got a weird call from a guy speaking with a heavy accent (Indian?) asking me to go through a couple of steps on my computer. He said he was from "Windows Customer Support". I played along until he realized I wasn't really in front of my computer. He had the nerve to tell *me* not to waste *his* time.
So I rant that I will waste his time and that I know this is a scam of some sort. How does this scam work? I tried to get as much info as I could but he stayed on script like a champ. Does he try to hack into computers, ask for money, try to steal ID?
