Have received calls from this number on my work line during non-work hours for a little over a week. No message was ever left. Just received a call from that number during work hours and listened to a recording that told me they were trying to reach Job Sanchez Tapia and to call 866-367-1873 with a reference number they provided. No company name was mentioned. Both of these phone numbers show up in "Who are these people?!" phone lists.

They called me multiple times a day demanding that I call them back immediately. Once I did, they identified themselves as RPM and said I owed $40 to PG&E. Since I've never been late on a payment to PG&E, I told him that his claim was impossible. He asked for personal information and I refused to give him any. He eventually said that he would remove me from his calling list.

Fair Debt Collections Practices Act:

§ 805.  Communication in connection with debt collection   [15 USC 1692c]

(a) COMMUNICATION WITH THE CONSUMER GENERALLY.  Without the prior consent of the consumer given directly to the debt collector or the express permission of a court of competent jurisdiction, a debt collector may not communicate with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt --

   (1) at any unusual time or place or a time or place known or which should be known to be inconvenient to the consumer. In the absence of knowledge of circumstances to the contrary, a debt collector shall assume that the convenient time for communicating with a consumer is after 8 o'clock antimeridian and before 9 o'clock postmeridian, local time at the consumer's location;

   (2) if the debt collector knows the consumer is represented by an attorney with respect to such debt and has knowledge of, or can readily ascertain, such attorney's name and address, unless the attorney fails to respond within a reasonable period of time to a communication from the debt collector or unless the attorney consents to direct communication with the consumer; or

   (3) at the consumer's place of employment if the debt collector knows or has reason to know that the consumer's employer prohibits the consumer from receiving such communication.

(b) COMMUNICATION WITH THIRD PARTIES.  Except as provided in section 804, without the prior consent of the consumer given directly to the debt collector, or the express permission of a court of competent jurisdiction, or as reasonably necessary to effectuate a postjudgment judicial remedy, a debt collector may not communicate, in connection with the collection of any debt, with any person other than a consumer, his attorney, a consumer reporting agency if otherwise permitted by law, the creditor, the attorney of the creditor, or the attorney of the debt collector.

(c) CEASING COMMUNICATION.  If a consumer notifies a debt collector in writing that the consumer refuses to pay a debt or that the consumer wishes the debt collector to cease further communication with the consumer, the debt collector shall not communicate further with the consumer with respect to such debt, except --

   (1) to advise the consumer that the debt collector's further efforts are being terminated;

   (2) to notify the consumer that the debt collector or creditor may invoke specified remedies which are ordinarily invoked by such debt collector or creditor; or

   (3) where applicable, to notify the consumer that the debt collector or creditor intends to invoke a specified remedy.

If such notice from the consumer is made by mail, notification shall be complete upon receipt.

(d) For the purpose of this section, the term "consumer" includes the consumer's spouse, parent (if the consumer is a minor), guardian, executor, or administrator.

§ 806.  Harassment or abuse  [15 USC 1692d]

A debt collector may not engage in any conduct the natural consequence of which is to harass, oppress, or abuse any person in connection with the collection of a debt. Without limiting the general application of the foregoing, the following conduct is a violation of this section:

   (1) The use or threat of use of violence or other criminal means to harm the physical person, reputation, or property of any person.

   (2) The use of obscene or profane language or language the natural consequence of which is to abuse the hearer or reader.

   (3) The publication of a list of consumers who allegedly refuse to pay debts, except to a consumer reporting agency or to persons meeting the requirements of section 603(f) or 604(3)1 of this Act.

   (4) The advertisement for sale of any debt to coerce payment of the debt.

   (5) Causing a telephone to ring or engaging any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with intent to annoy, abuse, or harass any person at the called number.

   (6) Except as provided in section 804, the placement of telephone calls without meaningful disclosure of the caller's identity.

If this is indeed RPM, they also call from 866-367-1873. I have called them asked them to stop calling my cell phone because I do not owe anything. All they do is laugh and say apparently you do and until it is paid we will continue to call.

This is apparently a collections agency (RPM) that does work for Sprint/MCI. They call me for someone named Solomon. No one by that name at my number.  I eventually blocked their calls through one of my Comcast calling features - it's so peaceful at my house now.

I just called the number 1 425-686-3016 and spoke to a Christiana. She said she will take my number out of their computer system so I wouldn't receive any more phone calls.

Now, for each and every call that I receive after this, they will be liable for. I will continue to record their calls and then I will prepare a Summons and Complaint against them and attached the phone records. I will then file it in New York Supreme court against them and request over $1 Million in damages. The issue here will not be whether or not they violated the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act; but how much they are liable to pay me, which will include statutory penalties (You can also sue them in small claims court. It's easy and cheaper).

This is where it gets interesting. If it is shown that they are regularly doing this to other consumers, they can be hit with huge punitive damages just to punish them; but you will have to sue them in a higher court like I plan to do if they keep calling.

An educated consumer is a powerful consumer. So, educate yourself and stop complaining and take action against them.

425-686-3016. Called on a Sunday. Is there any day not sacred to these bottom-feeding trash bags? BTW, they have also tried using at least 12 other numbers, some from land lines, others from cell phones all the while having their names blocked!

Get this one. I never rec'd a call or a letter from RPM and got email alert from credit monitoring service. Score dropped 41pnts. they reported a collect for sprint with a date of delinquency of 12/07 so i called them about this and they said the date of delinquency was 12/14/1992. Reaging, SOL, No communication to dispute the collection any laws i'm missing? I recorded my conversation w/them asking why they changed the date and why no communication as well as why report w/SOL out. No response then supervisor got on the phone and yelled at me and hung up. Trying to find out about suing them myself as they did hurt me by my score dropping so much. Any extra advise/info i would love to have.
