I have been getting these calls everyday sometimes 3 times a day.  I do not answer. No message is left on my phone. The ID number is e-verify.  This is complete harassment.  I have reported them before because I am on the do not call list.  Guess it doesn't work.  I guess I have to  report this call to the fair trade commissioners.

I just received the call and she said she was calling on behalf of Homeland Security and wanted to talk to the person who handles EVERIFY.  She had my name and they started asking questions and I told her that I don't feel comfortable giving out that information and that she could tell me what information she had and I could confirm.

I then said I wasn't interested in continuing the call and she said to check out EVERIFY's website and it will confirm the call is real and she will call me back at a later time.

Be very careful on who you give information to.  Just because they say they are calling on behalf of Homeland Security doesn't mean that they are legitimate.  I deal with call like this on a regular basis.  When the young man that called me said he was calling on behalf of Homeland Security, I asked him more than three times what company he was with.  Everytime I asked him he deflected my question by saying I could check it out on the E-Verify site.  I believe on the 4th time he gave me his company's name...Convergys.  It was clear he did not want to give me the company name.  I told him I would check his company and phone number out before I gave him any information.  Supposably he will call back on Monday, but I rather doubt that he will.

If you are registered as a user on E-Verify, you should have received notice that someone would be calling you to verify.  I just got off of my phone call.

I too received a call from this number in the evening saying they were from Homeland Security and E-Verify.  I did proceed with the call, but with caution.  They did not ask any personal information except how I spelled my name - everything else was general.  I went online to my E-Verify account and did find this news release below on the right side in the E-Verify News section.  I also called E-Verify and they were able to confirm this and said questions would vary depending on the type of account you have.  I am going to email e-verify@dhs.gov with a suggestion that they would get a better response if they created a quick on-line survey when users log in.  This does appear to be valid, however.  Many companies are starting to use Outsourcing companies to do tasks like this.

Called on Saturday at 2:30pm claiming to be with Homeland Security verifying E-Verify information. I didn't give her a chance to tell me more - I hung up. If the government wants information on a company, they can use their bankrupt postal service to show a bit more legitimacy than a phone call on a Saturday afternoon to a personal cell phone.

Based on the above messages, they are not behaving in a legitimate or professional manner.
Also just because a legitimate organization exists, somewhere, doesn't mean the people calling you are legitimate.

The E-Verify system is part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and is working to stop unauthorized employment.  By using E-Verify to determine the employment eligibility of their employees, companies become part of the solution in addressing this problem.
The calls are on behalf of Homeland Security to check on businesses that have already signed up for E-Verify in the states that require compliance, like Arizona, Missouri and Mississippi.  They ask whether you are still doing business in the state and if you expect to hire additional employees.
It's a legitimate program.

They called and said they were "with the Department of Homeland Security".  I am a PI and tracked the number to: http://www.convergys.com/.  They are a marketing company.  Pretext calling as the Department of Homeland Security illegal.  Hang up immediately.

Received a call stating they were from Dept of Homeland Security wanting to update my company information in their e-verify program.  When I asked him how I can be sure he is really with the DHS, he said that they are contracted out through DHS.  I said I would take his telephone number and call him back after I verify through DHS that this information is correct.  He said he doesn't have an outside line where I can call him back.  The number on caller ID was 434-533-9011.

they called saying they're from homeland security and were calling in regards to e-verify. We told them we don't give info out over the phone. I hung up and called them back and a shody voicemail picked up saying they are Convergance Int a market research company...bottom lins sounds like they're crooks.

received call from someone wanting to confirm our company information on E-Verify. Told him that I would only verify what he had on file, not answer any questions. He suggested I go to E-Verify website to confirm that such a company like his would be calling but like everyone else, I haven't found such a notification.

Thanks for the info people. This number has come up on my caller ID 3 times in the last 24 hours.
Never a message.
Guess I'll just keep hitting the ignore button.

I would have trouble believing Homeland Security needs info on me that they don't already have!

the same as everybody else

claiming to call on behalf of Homeland Security.  Had the owner's name..... which does no good because the owner never talks to idiots calling on the 'phone.

Hard effort to talk to the owner, refused to provide written documentation.... all in all a typical scam telephone solicitor.

Caller ID said EverifyServices - Person asked if I was the person in my company who maintained the E-Verify System. I said I was. The lady then started asking questions like how many people are in your company. I said I don't give out business information over the phone to people I don't know. She said she had been hired by the Department of Security, but was not a government employee. She then just hung up.

Same thing.  Said she was calling from "Homeland Security".  Wanted to speak with the person who handles everify for our company.  Then asked about the number of employees.  I asked for her name and she said "Dorothy Johnson".  I asked for an ID number and she could not provide, so I hung up.  Caller ID said "EVERIFY SERVICES".

received a call from 434-533-9011 who identified herself as Deserae working on behalf of homeland security. Caller ID = EVERIFY SERVICES.  wanted to know who handles the everify for our company and updates the uscis.gov website.  When I asked her how do I know who you say you are working for homeland security?  Deserae claimed that the uscis website had news on their website that someone would be calling.  I went to the uscis.gov website while she was on the phone, she said click on tab NEWS and I would see an article about the calls being made.  I asked her, what is the name of the article and which month is it published under.  she did not know.  I told her I was not able to give any information about our e-verify use until she can prove it is homeland security calling.  she hung up
