I too, (a non-member, however), have received the fraudulent text many times, over and over. I would like to suggest that the credit union representative that keeps reposting the same response, report the information to respective authorities in hopes to attempt to stop the continued fraudulent activity.  If a credit union representative, would offer a phone number where non-members also could also report the of sending text messages, perhaps they could collect enough data to get this action corrected. The public would certainly appreciate your help.

I am a T-Mobile customer and got the same text message . States that my account with Genfcu  had to be closed and I needed to call them or e-mail them to reopen. Since I am not a member my first step was to do some research to find out more about this message. Thanks for the alert. appreciate all the info.
Everyone needs to take heed, and  do their your  homework before commiting to anything that you are not familiar with, and lets put this scammers out of business by not falling for their tricks.

I'm a Sprint customer as well, I guess we all have something in common, As i received the fraudulent text, but called my bank personally to see what the matter was, and was informed of the SCAM. So Thankful I'm educated enough to know not to give out important information unless you call them, NEVER let them call you asking for you info.

One would think that Sprint or the FCC could easily track down the perpetrator of this scam.  How hard could it be to trace the source of what appears to be hundreds of text messages from the same source.  I too have a Sprint mobile phone with a San Antonio phone number.  The idiots propagating this scam have been sending text messages to my phone for months.  I even asked Sprint to block certain text messages from my phone and they still get through.  Does anybody work in the fraud department of Sprint or the FCC or did they get laid off due to sequestration?

My cell phone number is on the do not call registry although I have been receiving text messages from my gen and bofa I do not have an account with them so I know its spam. I'm very cautious on how I share my number and most of the times when I have to put in a cell phone number I use an old house phone number from the 90's that is disconnected if called. So I don't know how they have my cell phone number. If sprint has anything to do with it. We should be blaming our service provider. This is not fair we have to give them our hard working money and they can't do anything about it.

Not hardly! Sprint would not do something like that. It is a scam that someone is running, trying to get some people to give them their credit card information. This has been done over and over using different numbers and texts.

I got a text saying urgent to call 434-979-1702  (of course I did no!t) but this time the text said it was from BOfA boa.com, making it appear that it was coming from maybe Bank of America, however, that is not their web address. So- same song, new verse! Wish these people would spend their time and effort on a real job!!

Got a message from member@mygenfcu.org on my cell phone.  Message said: Dear Generations F.C.U member, we had to lock your account.Click www.mygencfcu.org to unlock.

Besides bad spacing and an extra c in the web address very strange as I do not have an account with Generations F.C.U.  I'm also a Sprint customer.

Good Afternoon moni -

I am the Associate VP of Corporate Communications for Generations Federal Credit Union.  We are aware of these texts/calls.  Please be assured that they are in no way related to any bank accounts that you have.  Scammers obtain a list of phone numbers (land and cell) and start calling/texting trying to find someone who will enter their information.

This issue has been impacting numerous financial institutions across the city and country.  Here is a link to a San Antonio Express-News article that talks about the issue.

Ive received 2 text messages from "generations fcu" online@mygenerationsfcu" both stating my account was locked and I needed to contact them. Never heard of this bank and do not have an account with the
. Now this evening I received a call from what appeared to be a satellite number (looked like when my loved ones in the military call) and it was an automated call from them saying my account was locked and press 2 for security to unlock it. I hung up. Also a sprint user with San Antonio number

Hi Dino -

I am the AVP of Corporate Communications for Generations Federal Credit Union.  We are aware of fraudulent texts and calls going out to members and non-members.  These messages are NOT from Generations.  We will NEVER call, text or email our members asking for secure information.

Unfortunately, this is also happening to other financial institutions in Bexar County and across the U.S. as well.  The financial institutions are selected at random and have no bearing on any accounts you may or may not have (for example, my personal cell phone got a text for Bank of America, my home phone got a call for Security Service and I don't have accounts with either).

If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact us at (our real number!) 210-229-1128.
