You know what?  I would generally report any unwanted and unsolicited number both to the National Do Not Call Registry and the FCC.  From my experience, that really works. So the perpetrator stopped calling me once and for all.

This number is a landline based in Heber City, UT and is unpublished. I got this info from the white pages reverse lookup. We did not answer this call but were curious about who it was.

Received this auto call today ; Steam Cleaning company - I have pushed '8' before to have number removed - that does not good; so I pushed one and when a live body came on the line, just started saying "the number you have reached has been changed; the new number is 973-474-9051" - believe they hung up during my 'speech' -btw this number I gave is a working number it is the "Telemarketer's Nightmare" - I have several I give including the number to the White House switchboard.......I figure let them deal with this - I'm also going to start giving the numbers of my senators - let them deal with it too.  I am on the dnc list and somehow these idiots are getting around it.  Reverse lookup states an unpublished landline in Heber UT.

We have received numerous calls for the last month from (435)654-8585 from Heber City, UT.  When I tried to call back the number today, recorded messages states "it is not a working number."  Who is behind this phone number?

Received call from this number "Bill from Steam Cleaners" and pushed 1 to get a live person; asked her the name of the company, and she said the Steam Cleaners; told her I needed to give her another number to call - she asked why - I told her because I have pushed 8 before to be removed and am on the dnc list and I wanted to give her another number to call so they would stop calling mine - she said "Well that isn't going to work lady" and hung up.  Call the number back - recording states it "is not a working number."

My SECOND carpet ROBO-Call of the day.  (The other one from another faked #).  As usual, reported to DONOTCALL within minutes (been doing this for about 2 years, still get the calls).  This is the 3rd one from this faked number in about 3 months.

Wish I could do something else, my carrier T-Mobile claims there's nothing they can do.

I've learned from watching a story on one of the national news magazine shows that these losers use computer programs that change the info displayed on Caller ID, so the info you see on your phone may be completely fake. For this number, the Caller ID says it's a cell phone, but when you call the number, you get a message that it's not a working #.

To gripe about telemarketers who break the rules or break the law, contact your state attorney general and the Federal Trade Commission. If the telemarketer is a telecommunications company, complain to the Federal Communications Commission.

All of the reports above look pretty familiar to me. I tried setting up an appointment just to find out who came and then would file a police report. But no one ever showed up.
This brings up the whole question. Do these guys ever do any carpet cleaning or are they up to something else? Given that the calls are nation wide it really brings up some interesting possibilities of theft rings or whatever. I can't figure out anything else they could find from a telephone call. My number and address are listed and certainly anyone could drive up and find the house.

Did you get the name of the company that came out?  You could report that.

I've tried playing along like I wanted to schedule something and asking which company they're with/which city they're in- fishing for ANY information that could be reported and they always give me VAGUE answers like "we work with a lot of local companies near you".  All they kept asking for was my address.

It *IS* tempting to give them a fake address (there's a building that's in the process of being built) -- at least I'd know I had wasted their time as they do mine & my cell minutes!  And if I picked one nearby me I could get a real company's name & address to be able to report to DONOTCALL/FTC.

thanks for providing.

maybe cell carriers are different.  T-Mobile claims there's nothing they can do.  Especially since the caller id is faked.  (they can't trace the call, I guess?)

I did hear Verizon sued the Auto-Warranty robo-callers and got millions maybe we can pressure other cell carriers to do the same!

Hey do what I do. Press 1 to talk to someone. Then schedule an appt. for your carpet cleaning. Give them a fake name and address. I like to use the address of either our local dump or the furthest possible address on the longest country road nearby (since I have country roads). I drove around one day just to find an old barn in the middle of nowhere and find an address there that didn't even exist. I know they don't check first, because I gave them a fake address on my own street once and they actually knocked on my door asking if I ordered carpet cleaning and they couldn't find the right address. Let them waste a trip. When they call you to find quit why you weren't there, tell them you don't know what they're talking about, you never ordered any carpet cleaning. Ive been screwing with these idiots for two years and its the most fun I've had since college. :)

Carpet steamer place.
I actually talked to someone for a brief moment.
Telling them that it was good timing since my dog just puked on the carpet.
Get this - I then asked the company name
and She said " Why don't you ask your dog, it might know" and then hung up.

Same damn carpet cleaning ROBO-Call spam.  "Isn't it time you had your carpets cleaned".  Called the # back & it was faked of course, not a valid phone #.

Reported to DONOTCALL.gov as usual.
T-Mobile claims they can't do anything about these calls.
But Verizon sued for millions & stopped the car warranty robo-callers from calling their customers... so it's got to be able to happen somehow!
(makes me want to forgive Verizon for the wiretapping of its customers and switch to them if they'll make these calls stop).

A RoboCall is a call that is anwered by a computer instead of a person when you pick up the receiver... these are illegal except for the government
4. What can I do if I receive a robocall that I think is illegal?
1) Call your local telephone company to file a complaint. You must give them the
name of who called and if possible the telephone number of the robocaller (it
may be provided in the message.)
2) Your telephone company will then tell the business that it is not following the law
and may give it some time to correct the problem.
3) If the business does not correct the use of the robocaller by the time given by the
telephone company, the telephone company can disconnect the phone line.
4) If you are not satisfied with the telephone company?s response to your robocall
complaint, you may contact the CPUC?s Consumer Affairs Branch by filing a
complaint online at http://www.cpuc.ca.gov/PUC/forms/Complaints/ or by
telephone at 1-800-649-7570 or in writing to:

I am in Norristown, and use to get calls with the same message from an Atlanta number. Now, with a Utah cell number now in use, I said i live in PA, and it would be a might long trip just to clean my carpets. She stuttered, and I told her to kiss my a** and not call again.

This automated carpet cleaning call comes over and over again.  I have reported them multiple times to the PA Do not Call list, I have requested to be removed from their list.  I have even spoken to two operators.  One called me every possible combination of curse words, the second hung up on me.
