This idiot tried to scam me for something I was selling on craigslist and accidentally pasted a usps tracking number of some other scam he had coming or going from nigeria when i responded to him. Here's his tracking number "EK017723997US" if you type it in google it shows everything.

This scammer asked for my pay pal account info to without even seeing the product in person that was fishy and now i know  

This person also contacted me with the same initial questions & PayPal requests. He asked for me to ship my product (Nikon D3000 I'm selling on Craigslist) to a Micheal Adam in Nigeria (even though the guy said his name was Gibson) & he would send me an extra $100 for shipping costs. I Google'd the numbers he was texting from (438-896-2509 AND 571-494-1360), found this & confronted the guy about this being a scam. He hasn't responded.

Thank goodness for this! Trying to sell my AT&T LG G2 in Los Angeles and put "Cash and pickup" on my listing.
Text from number asked if it was still for sale and same stuff as you guys? questions about its condition and stuff.

Text: "Alright Sound Good Did you have a (PayPal account)??? if you kindly get back to me with it so i can send the Payment immediately..OK"
Me: "Sorry I don't have a PayPal account. Also, I did state 'Cash' on the listing."

Immediate text reply was a long, demanding paragraph which had to have been prepared because no one could have texted/typed that quickly.

Text: "I can only pay you via my verified PayPal account because I found it more secure and reliable to transact with. You can log on to www.paypal.com to create an account with PayPal, its very easy and fast to do. Get back to me with your PayPal attach email address when you finish setting on up so that i can send the fund there to you. Feel free to ask me any questions. Regards"
Me: "Ok will do. But you can pick it up right?" (so dumb I didn't notice the suddenly flawless English and use of symbols)
Text: "i want you to know you will be shipping to me and i will also include the shipping fee along to the Payment.. OK"

I spent a few minutes reading about paypal and examples they give about buyer fraud and luckily decided to stick with "cash and pickup only."

I felt bad about missing out on a sale until I read this thread! Thank you guys!

Tried to sell my nexus 7 and he was very straight forward..went by the name gibson..wanted to pay for the nexus plus was gonna cover the shipping fee..after we texted for a while he told me he was gonna text me from another number..after I googled this and told him to f*** off he went back to his old number saying the previous one was his uncles and if he should proceed with the paypal payment..i didnt text back

Selling my D90 on OC Craigslist. Douchbag is texting me now. Same thing. A bunch of questions. SCAM. Second one today for me.

Selling an iphone on vegas craigslist.  Asked a bunch of questions about the item and for more pics.  Sent him basic answers with no pictures, then he immediately responded with "Sounds great! What's paypal info so I can pay you?"

Googled his # and found this.

This person texted me asking about a laptop I have on Craigslist. He first asked if it was still available. After I responded, he asked a bunch of different questions. That's when I looked up the number and found out it's a scammer. No replies since.

texted me for a pair of shoes I listed on craigslist. I kind of guessed he was a scammer so I very gently went ahead and insulted him. kind of ashamed of myself that I was being rude.
Anyways, the number is scamming people, be aware ....

I'm selling something on craigslist now and he messages me about it. It's a MacBook Pro that I'm selling for 1450 and he wants to do it over paypal. I just responded to him saying id need to meet him in person for it and he hasn't replied.

I posted an ad on San Diego Craigslist for an Asus notebook computer.
This individual texted me, asking if it still was for sale. He used the handle "Gibso."
I texted back, saying he had to see it in person.
Never heard back...

Thank you for posting this. I received a text from this # about an old Craig's List ad I had posted. I decided not to respond after reading this.

He asked a bunch of questions that had nothing to do with what I was selling. said he could not access his bank account so he had to use paypal. Tried to get my paypal account. I told him to find another sucker.The texting stopped.  I hope if you read this you won't be his next victim.
