Recd call last night and my husband ask them how much money went to the Children. The guy tried beating around the bush and finally said 12% so my husband said so then 88% goes to you and administration. That is a shame that you are taking from the children unlike St. Jude. The guy hung up on my husband.

Got a call to donate money for Children's Cancer Dream Network. Told them I don't donate over the phone could they send me something in the mail. Then I called my mother in law who is very involved with the American Cancer Society. She made a few phone calls and called me back about an hour later. NO ONE from the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY has heard of the Children's Cancer Dream Network, and they are in NO WAY ASSOCIATED WITH THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY. If you would like to donate to an organization that is cancer related, American Cancer Society (ACS) is a good one and nationally recognized.

I have had a call from a different number than this. Its the same org though.I asked for the tax id number. The one given doesn't match the org it does however match their sponsor contractors number. Charitable Resource Foundation. That however is listed as being out of Ind and Mo.The number I had calling me was from out of Miami Fla.I like a poster above also had them put on another person.I explained the situation at hand. She didn't attempt to force a contribution at all.She directed me to there web site if I should decide to contribute.I think its just the fact that they are training people as to why they turn the phone over to someone else.
They stated to me that they do a six week drive at this time of year.So for another few weeks we will be getting calls from them.
They don't have a valid track record of funds accountability[gleaned from the bbb website].This is very obvious when tracing them back. They have more offices than you can shake a stick at.They are aware that they have a less than stellar reputation too. They understand why.

They suckered me (I used to give to ANY charity...). When they continued to call several times a day, despite me telling them I gave already..."couldn't you give just a little bit more?!" I started saying I'd think about giving $10,000 of my inheritance...hahahahahahah...It gets to the point where you want to scam the scammers. Thanks for all the info above.

I received a call from a young female asking me to contribute to terminally ill cancer children's families. She pitched a statical number to me of children dying each year from cancer and made it sound like the Children's Cancer Dream network is similar to the "Make a Wish" foundation. She said that this was a part of the Cancer Dream Network and that this organization was part of the National Cancer Assistance Foundation. She put another woman on the call when I said that I would make a contribution. That raised the red flag for me! Genuine volunteers or employees would not need to put a 'qualifier' on the call!
I stated that and ended the call.

BBB warns against charities associated with deceptive sweepstakes notices. The St. Louis Better Business Bureau has advised consumers to be "cautious" about donating to seven St. Louis-area charities that have used Precision Performance Marketing to help them run similar fundraising sweepstakes across the U.S. [BBB:
Consumers should think twice about donating to 7 charities tied to St. Louis area sweepstakes firm. St. Louis BBB, Feb 22, 2011] The BBB report says that (a) the mailings make it seem they already had won or are on the brink of winning cash prizes and that (b) annual 990 tax reports show that several of the charities have spent a high percentage of their contributions on fundraising.
The charities identified in the BBB report are:
National Cancer Assistance Foundation of Sarasota, Florida, which operates the Breast Cancer Assistance Fund, Children's Cancer Assistance, and Children's Cancer Dream Network. The foundation's tax returns indicate that for each dollar raised, only 11 cents was used for program services.
Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation of Schereville, Indiana, which distributed about 3.5 cents for each dollar raised. Kathleen Seidel has posted additional information about this foundation.
Disabled Police Officers Counseling Center of Niceville, Florida, which the report says distributed only 3 cents of every of each dollar donated.
Child Crisis Network of Pompano Beach, Florida
Children With Hairloss of South Rockwood, Michigan, which operates Children's Sunshine Network.
Circle of Friends for American Veterans of Falls Church, Virginia.
Child Watch of North America of Orlando, Florida.
