I've received a couple of calls from this number but I have refused to answer the call as I tend not to answer calls from numbers I don't recognize.

You think it's a scam? Who is it?

I have a hunch that this is a scam. When you are on the line long enough for them to do a third party call with you still on the phone (only takes a few seconds), they then call a third party for free through your service.
Other hunch is that they call third party and it appears from your phone number.

just received a call from 442-074-047678 - "Heather from customer services regarding my credit card. There is no problem, just that you qualify to lower your interest rate to 6.25%. Press 1 for a live operator or 2 to have notices discontinued".

I didn't get a call from the same number as the rest of you, but perhaps this info may help... My husband's ex, who lives in Europe, has been bothering us for the last few weeks calling us at all hours of the day. Originally her calls were showing up as a number coming from Atlanta, Georgia, which I then learned was a number been used to route overseas calls using a phone card. I initally thought perhaps this was a number from the possible new area code in California, but after reading these comments, I'm convinced it's my husband's ex at it again with a calling card based out of England. Perhaps the calls the rest of you are receiving are people or businesses using calling cards as well? Now, on my phone only the partial number is appearing. Those of you whom have gotten the whole number, what kind of phones are you using? The ex's phone # did show up at one point, however the last number was left off because our caller id only allows so many digits--I wish we had gotten it all. =\

Got first call on Sat. 2/23/08 from 442074204650 then just received one from 442074791697 today 2/25/08 on my cell phone. I don't answer calls from somebody I don't know especially suspicious numbers like these.

A few days back, I got an unexpected call from a similar phone number +442074962024 which
is central London, UK phone number 496-2024. Now, considering the timeframe and the
modus operandi, I'm assuming that the two numbers have something in common. Larry

yea we got one too in the 949 area code
just don't answer

Yeah, I got this missed call today @ 2:07PM (PST) 25-Feb-2008, from +442074448124.
Poking around on the Internet, I can explain that the +44207 as seen on GSM networks, like
the cell phone service I use: the "+" prefix, the Country Code "44" which means United Kingdom
i.e. UK; then 0207 which is dialed as 207 (I don't recall why;). That "0207" means the Inner
London region, according to British Telecom, aka BT. Then the phone number itself which is
444-8124. I don't want to spend any airtime or money on this rot.

Ive received about 3 calls from this number stating that my car's warranty is up. Hmm...funny thing is, it still has about 2 years on it.
