Very strange electronic call - spelled out my name and asked me to respond.  No identification of caller given so I did not respond.

No message left, it must not have been that important.

Got the call, there was no message so I called them back. They purport to be Xcel but I called Xcel from the number provided on my bill. They confirmed this number is definitely not theirs and that my balance was paid. If you have concerns about your balance, call the number on your bill, not this one!

Its not Xcel energy its a sleazy collection agency that bought your name and number from Xcel. The people claiming its Xcel on this board most likely work for said collection agency. This is an illegal practice.

Go ahead and pay the people on the other end of this number! Your Xcel bill will still be past due and you will be out what amount you pay them. ITS NOT XCEL! Go call the number on your bill, you will find out quickly its not Xcel who is calling you. Xcel has NEVER EVER EVER EVER called me or anyone in my family! They send out mailings for everything!

my  Excell payment is past due...it makes sense!

My Xcell bill is past due, it's got to be them calling me from this number.

I got this call, its xcel, I was past due on my bill so they called me to pay my bill. maybe you should answer the phone and pay your bill!!

I got the call to. Answered it, got the "this is not a sales phone call" and I hung up right away. I hate machines calling me. It is Excel Energy. Any idea what they wanted?

I got the automated name thing too, then I called the number back, it is Excel Energy.

Get Real has got to be one of the scammers setting these numbers up... why would he come on here and defend it so randomly to begin with...  seriously this is a scam, if you are really worried about your excel account use the proper channels and pay it online or call the number off their official website.

I got the call, and like everyone else checked it out... Excel is not in any way connected to this number.

It MAY be a previous phone number that Xcel had and is still registered as such. That being said, it could very well be a collections agency using this number to hide who they really are when calling people to try and collect some sort of debt. It's a caller ID mask an dis very common throught the collections world. They just program the number into their PBX/phone system and when an outbound call is made, this number will appear as the caller id. I work for a phone company and sell this frequently. Attorneys also use this tactic as do bail bonds companies and accounts receivable departments.

It cannot be Excel becuase that is not my electric provider and i have never heard of them.  Strange calls all the time from this number.

I called EXCEL and they said that this was NOT a number associated with them.  Seems like there are a few numbers out there trying to scan EXCEL customers

Please note the difference between Xcel Energy a legit energy Company and Excel Energy. I had a past due account with Xcel, which has been taken care of and am still receiving these calls. I have read people report this to Xcel and they confirm that it is a scam, but it really sickens me that it's clear Xcel must have sold our info to them. Not sure how to get this to stop since no one says anything when I do answer...

Don't call anyone a moron.... I called my service provider... I was told this number is a CELL phone number, NOT ASSOCIATED WITH EXCEL, and they suggested that if I keep getting calls, I SHOULD REPORT IT TO THE POLICE!!!!!!!!!!! This is a scam!

You're a moron. I've delt with this number for years. It's Xcel. It always has been, it always will be. If you don't pay your electric past 2 months, they call from this number to warn you about shutoffs. I have been called by this number many times over the years. Just pay your bill. They make you call the main line anyway.

First, I don't work for Xcel. Second, if your husband makes $8700.00 a month, then he should send you to college so you can learn how to use proper grammar and punctuation. Third, if your husband does make this much money a month, then you and your husband should have enough money to pay your bills such as your power bill. Lastly, "Hey Wait" since you have all this money, how about calling 1-888-220-8409 to pay your late Xcel Energy bill via check, debit, or credit card. I pay my Xcel Energy bills and so can you!

However, people have no right to come on here and say ugly things about people that they don't know. If you don't know for sure what the heck you are talking about, or if your a burned out chump that works for Excel, keep your comments at work! Also, I had a friend that said bad things and worked for a energy company...ya know what she found one day when she got home from work? Some clints tracked her to where she worked, then they found where she lived. One day they were sitting on her door step with their children. They told her they were there to move in. They did this because she ran her mouth. So, these people figure what better way to get this taken care of then to move in with the person giving them all the crap.

Now... She is very nice to people and tries to understand where they are coming from.

Xcel calls, when and if they call, from an 800 or 877 number! Xcel very RARELY calls anyone! They send out mailings!

I've received several calls from this number over the past month.  When I call back, it says it's Excel Energy.  That's all fine and good, but I don't have an account with Excel Energy. Nor have I ever heard of them before.  They are not my energy provider here in Iowa.
